List of must-see world events and parties

Too many posts on this thread from people who have no actual experience at these events...

-Oktoberfest is awesome, especially if you've never been. Definitely worth checking out
-Ibiza in the summer is amazing. Taking X and going to the mega-clubs and hearing a good DJ is serious fun.

Agreed. I was hoping to hear more from people who have actually attended must-goes and with more data such as where, when, why it's good and perhaps some localized strategies for scoring.

Maybe we can start up a more organized thread for that but I'm still interested in hearing about events that might be worth going to even if it's from people who haven't been.

Another one worth mentioning in Japan is Hanami. It just passed here. When cherry blossoms bloom in April, hoards of Japanese people go out to have picnics and drink their faces off under the cherry trees. This goes on for a couple of weeks until the leaves fall off and is throughout Japan, starting in the south and moving northward with the warm weather.

Lots of opportunities for meeting girls here. No special strategies needed for meeting girls other than standard game. Go during the day and like everywhere, women won't be quite as guarded. But most people go in large groups so you'll have to break in somehow. If it's a company event, you won't be able to do so easily, but if it's just a group of friends then just go in friendly and be the novel foreigner and then you can start working your game. Other than large groups, you'll see a lot of couples. You'll also see the occasional twosome of females or even perhaps solo ones. The solo ones might be good targets depending but then again, there's often a reason they are solo. LOL

Girls or not, it is quite nice to see all the trees in full bloom.

I was just in Tokyo to see cherry blossoms. It was nice and all, but I found it to be nothing special (Tokyo itself is awesome though). I suppose it would be better to go to Kyoto or somewhere other than Tokyo. It was also nearly impossible to find a place to stay that week. Go to Japan for the women, not cherry blossoms.

Yeah, I don't give a shit about pretty flowers either. But it IS a place where tons of people congregate so it's a great opportunity to meet girls. Plus, different strokes and all that. Some people might get off on the pretty flowers. Japanese people go fucking crazy over that shit for some reason. So much so that every single fucking year, they HAVE to go to hanami.

The hanami (cherry blossom) season in Japan can be awesome and yeah, it's a good way to meet good-looking bitches. Generally though August is the best time to visit Japan - people are on holiday, tan, healthy, and relaxed. Japan is an island country and people should try more to be on island speed... they are in August, to an extent.

Japan also has some must-see events and parties.

Like Nebuta in Aomori (in the deep north):

Or the Fujiyoshida fire festival, near Mt. Fuji. People light a bunch of shit on fire, for reasons related to the gods I think...:

Or the winter snow festival in Sapporo:

I have been to 90% of the events mentions above.
All were fucking great.

I don't know if I am just getting older or what, but the one thing I am really really keen to do is this beer float in Finland.
Maybe it is just because I look back at tubing in Laos (before it was a natural selection playground) with such fond memories.

The less fucks you give, the more fucks you get.

Burning Man.

Takes a special type, but if you are a little hippieish you'll do great.

It'll change your life.

Hey Fortitudinal, can you go into more detail about how/why Burning Man has such a large impact on a person? I've heard similar things said before.

It's vey hard to describe. Like explaining the color purple to someone blind.

It's a very challenging environment yet very welcoming as far as people go. You will find what you seek but only if you open your heart to the universe and it's mysterious ways. There is booze pussy and drugs to be had but only if you can click with the place. So for a square it's a big challenge to learn to let go... The real world doesn't mean jack shit why you are cacked in dust in the middle of a tent where there is sm bondage going on as a demo.

It's the kind of place that challenges your barriers of what normal, possible and impossible is. And just when you think you can't take it anymore you find someone or something amazing. It's just that kind of place.

So, go young man, and see what the hoopla is. Leave your expectations at home and make the place your own. You are as much as spectator as participant.
