MIAMI - Temporary rentals

I'd like to check out Miami as a place to live at some point between May and Oct.

Any recommendations on areas to rent a furnished one-bedroom or studio apartment for a month? I won't have a car.

Easy: South Beach.

I stay there all the time and never have a car.

Keep in mind, "some point between May and Oct." is not exactly the best time to go to Miami Beach.

All my friends that live there try to get out of dodge during at minimum Jun, Jul, Aug. If they can help it, May and Sept also.

So, know that going in, you are going at a time when most people that live there try to get the hell out.

February is optimal.

I would second the G-Man.

Unless you have some connects down there who can drive you around and what not then your best bet is probably going to be somewhere on South Beach (or Miami Beach in general). You can walk to most stores, restaurants, bars, clubs, beaches, etc. If you're down for public transportation they also have a relatively efficient bus that runs up and down Miami Beach and another one that connects to Miami proper.

To follow up with what these fine gentlemen suggested I will also concur that January throuh April is the PRIMO time to be in Miami. Many of the best festivals, shows and events take place during this time of year and the weather is at its best. It will also be more expensive during this time of year but hey you only live once!

Thanks for the info.

Schedule-wise I will have to do it in the "off-season", but maybe it's better b/c it sounds like i'd easily find a sublet.

March is a good time to go. I'd suggest checking airbnb for a room to rent.

Best times for going to Miami:
Jan-April

April-June is pretty slow

About mid June-August it starts to pick up a bit

End of August-almost the end of December it's slow as hell. Halloween can be fun, but otherwise, this is the worst time to be in Miami.
