Dunno man. If you go to any other top tier colleges in the US you'll find plenty of technically smart women who nevertheless non-critically accept and parrot even more ludicrous and clearly untrue things. For example, that men and women are equally capable and are just socialized differently.

Denying an obvious reality that is present in every day of your life seems a lot more "dumb" than believing a mythic-historical figure from 2000 years ago may have been in one place rather than another.

Women are just not prone towards challenging prevailing beliefs in their social circles.

based with the mormons I grew up with, they aren't really dumb. they keep to themselves in a tight knit fashion and are a bit naive. the hottest girls I knew when I was in high school were mormon chicks and I couldn't do anything with them because I would get rejected right away for being raised Catholic (not Catholic anymore). but fuck, those mormon girls are so fuckn beautiful.

Just because they were raised believing a BS religion doesn't mean they are stupid. There are plenty of incredibly smart and intelligent people that believe ridiculous things. I don't think one's religion should add or subtract from their perceived intelligence. Honestly, anyone who is closed-minded towards religion (or lack of religion) should be docked points because they are ignorant. A smart person knows they will occasionally be wrong; a dumb person thinks they are always right.

Its not so much they aren't smart, they are really into their beliefs. You question something, they'll argue it with you. Its a little weird how rigid they are in their thought processes, which lends one to think that they aren't willing to accept other points of view.

This is what I mean when I say they're dumb. Mormons, more so than other type of religious people that I've met, tend to not question anything. They can parrot things that they're taught and a lot of them are driven and capable, but I wouldn't call anyone like that "intelligent." I guess those are just the qualities you need to be considered a good student these days. Do what you're told and don't question anything and you will get straight A's.

FYI I don't have against mormons. One of my best friends in jr. high was mormon. He taught ME how to smoke weed. Ironic considering I'm a godless, hedonistic motherfucker, but back in 7th/8th grade I wasn't into all that yet. This friend actually ended up going to BYU and landed a cutie for a wife. Would I call her hot and intelligent? Nah... but he's doing pretty well and I wouldn't be unhappy if I was him.
