Planet Fitness tells woman to hide her toned and 'intimidating' body

...because it "intimidated" others.

The Planet Fitness gym in Richmond, California is standing behind their dress code policy after one member claimed that she was told to put a shirt over her intimidatingly toned body.

Oh yeah, the 'intimidating' woman?

I'd bet $100 that the only person to complain looks like Lindy West.

In the near future, you will have to wear a fat-suit in the gym. Everyone has to be equal. After they establish the rule at the gym, they will push to make it mandatory in public. The fatties won't have to wear one, because some pigs are more equal than the others.

They should want her to show it as an inspiration to others in the gym, as an example of what you can look like with hard work. Instead, they want her to hide it because other bitches are jealous? It's one thing for women to have a female-only gym environment to avoid the leering eyes of men, but this reveals their true nature - they hate on each other even more. The sloppier bitches should go to Curves!

Yes. The modern world is heading towards a combination of: the enforcement of equality through handicaps in Harrison Bergeron; the police state of 1984; the fucking up of natural reproduction, conditioning of children by the state, widespread promiscuity and the happy pill soma of Brave New World; and the ever-increasing regulations and taxation of the productive to support the looters and moochers in Atlas Shrugged.

How can liberals and feminists not see that their policies lead to a dystopian future? Instead they want to double down on more liberalism and feminism to 'solve' the problems they've created! [Image: dodgy.gif]

This is nothing new as far as Planet Fitness goes.

They've established a niche that works for them and makes a ton of sense from a business standpoint, I can't blame them for exploiting a huge and mostly untapped market. That market being, fat people willing to pay $10/mo and do 30 minutes of softball cardio a few times a week so they can feel good and brag about 'going to the gym'.

For the rest of us, the solution here is real easy: never go to Planet Fitness.

This is really accurate. After New Year's, I switched from Anytime Fitness to Planet Fitness. Because of my schedule, I need a gym that is open 24 hours a day. I liked Anytime Fitness, but you need a fob to enter the gym. I kept having problems with my fob and was sometimes unable to enter the gym. I got frustrated and switched to Planet Fitness when my contact was up. Planet Fitness is $10.00 a month if you only use one of the locations. It is $20.00 per month to have access to all Planet Fitness locations. The place is really packed except between about 1 and 4 A.M. 90% of the people in there are grossly overweight. I do see some really in-shape people, all men, but they are a small minority. Here's the interesting part: I'm in there every day and I never remember seeing the same person twice. The extremely low price attracts crazy amounts of members at each location. Most members either never go to the gym or go once in a blue moon. This story doesn't surprise me one bit.

I've been going to a Planet Fitness in brooklyn simply for monetary reasons for about three months, and believe it or not it manages to defy the stereotypes for the most part. I'd say a good 60% of the members are well muscled latino men in tank tops working out hard. I doubt a single one of them is aware of the gym's fat-accepting, muscle-shaming policies. They are just working class men who know that it's the cheapest gym in town.

I'd say only about 10% tops are overweight, but then again it is nyc which has for the most part avoided the obesity plague. The lunk alarm does go off from time to time, but I think that is because it is just calibrated to go off when the floor vibrates enough from weight dropping. The few times it has gone off when I've been there it has been promptly switched off.

The gym still sucks though. They don't have a proper bench for bench presses or a squat rack--only smith machines. And the barbells only go up to like, 60 pounds.

In sum -- don't go to planet fitness. but, if you must, go in a poorer neighborhood where jacked guys just want to work out for cheap, and you probably won't have to deal with any of the nonsense.

Planet Fitness, the most judgemental non-judgemental gym in the world.

...I've seen those signs around the gym (no "lunk", no grunting...shit like that)
and just assumed that it was an attempt to be funny and "positive"
didn't really know they actually had it as a policy to fuck with people...

I guess this P.C. Crap is why I could never find a scale anywhere in there (who the fuck starts a gym, but doesn't have anyway to track progress?)

lol also thought it was weird that they had pizza nights...(wtf?)

More like Planet Fatness

Nothing surprises me from a "gym" with pizza days and lunk alarms for people that are actually training.

WB and nice bod, but if that's intimidating, Planet Fatness must be a haven for land whales.

Planet Fitness tells woman to hide her toned and 'intimidating' body

Every time I think American culture has hit rock bottom, I read something like this to prove me wrong. They market this as a gym for the average man, but they are wrong. It is a gym for the "below average" man. The average man who is working hard to improve himself is ridiculed and demonized to bolster the egos of those who don't deserve it. What more can you say about a gym that has free all you can eat pizza and candy bowls. America has become the ghetto of the untermensch, as opposed to a Jeffersonian meritocracy. In Mexico, I can work out in my gym and there are no control freaks around to annoy me with their silliness.

Thinking about it some more - I think Planet Fitness is trying to create a silly sorry which goes viral in order to generate free PR.

The story above seems straight out of the Ryan Holiday book of marketing strategies.
