Anyone Have Suggestions On A Good Sm Backpack/Manbag for Traveling

Not looking for a backpack to carry on to planes and stuff, looking for a smaller backpack / manbag for day trips and going around town, somewhere to keep some bottled water, smokes, money, camera, towel, extra shirt stuff like that.

Anyone have any suggestions? I tend to stick to more beach or off the beaten path type places so not looking for something tactical looking but something nylon or something, not anything leather or super nice or gq

This was a thread on a backpack not sure if it s exactly what you are looking for but maybe there is some good info in it.

Thanks for posting that link, I had actually already read that one a few weeks back. I really liked that Kickstart bag someone mentioned in the video, was almost thinking about donating to get a free bag but I think that package already maxed out so didn't get it.

I do need a larger carry on bag for more for luggage but in this particular question i was looking more for a small bag for taking a day trip while on vacation so something smaller easy to take on a bus or hiking around just to carry some water, passport, smokes, maybe a couple beers.

maybe something somewhat more along these lines maybe a bit bigger but no so tactical diaper bag looking

I picked up an Osprey flapjack and I'm liking it. The suspension is a substantial improvement over my old Samsonite LATAM only model EDC pack. Handles my 8-ish km round trip walk to the local streetmarket admirably. It manages to not look goofy across the range of not being full at all to being rather stuffed beyond its intended size.

What I am loving though is the flap. Decently rain resistant and it hides the pockets that matter from view raising the threshold of balls it takes for a would be pickpocket to stick their hand in. The laptop sleeve is protected in the main compartment.

The thing is a bit on the heavy side so Asian airline ounce counters might suffer a bit with it. At 5'7" I could see this pack being a bit tall for anyone with a much short torso. Runs Roughly 100 USD give or take 20 depending on where you end up buying it. Definitely worse packs for Urban pedestrians out there.

I've had this Vans bag for about a year. Perfect amount of pockets and compartments, has a thin/low profile so it doesn't stick out far from your back, looks unassuming, fits a mid sized laptop, perfect all around bag. When I travel I take this as my under the seat bag and a suitcase in the overhead, no checked bags.

Not to big not to small .
Best EDC I ever had and I'm a bit of a bag whore.

One thing to think about is how easy it will be to machine wash it. If you use a pack while traveling it gets pretty dirty and needs a weekly washing.

I’ve tried various bags over the years and just stick with a simple daypack that I can throw in a standard machine.

The Aer Techsling was great. I used it for a week in NY.

This post reminds of when Esquire UK jumped the shark 3 years ago. Each month, they had an "Object of desire" on the last page, which was invariably very expensive, but which would have been affordable to some. They demonstrated that they had a somewhat tenuous grip on reality when they listed a leather day sack (I think Ralph Lauren), priced at £33k (thirty three thousand pounds).

What the hell do you need all that crap for?

Seriously, what woman is going to find your (homo/beta male) man (diaper) bag attractive?

I use these at music festivals. I have two Scorpian models (if they are still made).

Very Durable.
Zippers make it more difficult for pick pocketers.
Shoulders weight well.
Holds your water get a 2/3 liter model. Mine is a 3 I think.
Chics must stand very close to you suck on the bite valve.
Girl makes eye contact while sucking object in proximity.
Not a beta-male man purse.

If you wear a man bag you are gay.

Think about it.
