I've noticed a trend of childless older sisters resenting younger sisters who have had kids. Mark my words, this will be a big topic on the usual female-oriented blogs as soon as the trend grows and the bitter spinsters come to terms with their anger and jealousy.

Here is what I'm seeing:

A lot of women from Generation X swallowed the feminist party line and put careers and partying first. They got married later or not at all and remained childless. Not the happiest group of women.

But it seems like a good number of Millennials tried not to make the same mistake and are having kids younger. I think another reason for this is social media: younger women see their friends showing baby pics on it and it's suddenly become cool (in some circles) to have kids.

And so we're now seeing a group of embittered women in their later thirties mortified to see their their younger sisters enjoying all things they passed up -- and can never get back. Coming soon to Jezebel and Feministing: "I Hate My Little Sister and I'm Not Ashamed to Say So."

This goes for older women with younger brothers, too.

Look, there is always a counteracting force. For women, yes they are herd animals who have followed the Feminist assholes off a cliff.

BUT.

Young women for all of history, have rejected their mothers and older women's bullshit. Young women always, always, always reject their moms (at least at first). It was this fact that made Feminists in the 1960s reject their 1950s housewife moms.

So it's no surprise, in fact completely predictable, that millennial girls are rejecting Feminism at a dizzying pace. Modern young women are submissive and want hubbies who will take care of them. Feminists and old spinsters are already spinning in their graves, and they aren't even fully dead yet.

Of course these young hotties are still screwed up, BUT THEY CAN LEARN and they are fully aware that the pool of eligible hubbies has been poisoned by their shithead older sisters.

The bottom line is, guys, when and if you ever decide to get hooked up and have some kiddies, there will be an infinite number of 20 year olds waiting in line for you. You are in charge of that transaction. If one woman fails your standards, there will be a dozen more queuing up to take her place, and that doesn't even count the overseas gals. You have an obligation to the human race, to take your time and be picky. Or choose not to go that route at all.

I think it's true to an extent but there would have to be a pretty decent age gap for this to be that different in terms of values. I know things changed rapidly, heck just 5 or 10 years after I went to school we really swung into this pc, no mention of christmas at school and all that other nonsense. That said again even sisters with a 5 or 7 year age gap I can't see this bing that big an issue.

I think a large part is just the comparison between siblings whether it be male or female but also the whole age old thing in movies and stuff like why cant you find a nice man like your sister.

I do think you have a point though, the world has changed so rapidly and continues to that even a 5 year age gap can produce two pretty diff kids.

I think the rate of change will slow down for a while now that people are more or less constantly operated by their smart phones..oops I mean constantly OPERATING their smart phones. Don't i?

Like when everyone started watching an average of 6 hours of TV a day, the control center changeover is complete and it takes time for the next level of control tech to coalesce..body-attached tech which is never "off"

Well, I can only say what I'm seeing. Your world may be different. I also tend to hang out in circles with a lot of submissive girls, so it's hard not to see the growth in the 20 year olds.

Anyway the fundamentals still apply. If you're a guy who has gotten old enough (>30) and has decided to find a wife, you are always going to find an unlimited number of applicants. Women never admit to any of this but they are marriage sluts. Any man looking to marry is the male equivalent of Kate Upton walking into a bar hoping to get laid. You are have the ultimate power. Absolutely. If you've done your job between 20 and 29, you'll have the finances and situation locked down to ensure that the line of applicants goes right out the door. You'll be ideal because at 30+, you'll be older than all of the career sluts who have reached 27-29 and realized that having spent their best years finishing at least one degree and getting that challenging paper-pusher position, it's time to lock down a man to pay for what she can't afford herself/give her the status that comes with family, house and kids.

Provided that you have the ability to demonstrate a desirable lifestyle, right out of the gate, plenty of women will have no trouble "discovering that you are the one" at some point during the duration of a first date.

Sounds nice, but I'm not seeing any of that here. I live in a SWPL city with two major university campuses, mostly hang out with the 18-30 uni-educated crowd. I see lots of drinking, travelling and saving the world aspirations, but zero traditional ones. I honestly can't remember the last time I meet one who can cook either.

Perhaps they talk a good game, but their actions reveal something else. It's like some study I saw recently which says how millennial men all want to get married much more than Gen X. Well I don't see any of those guys - my peers - preparing for marriage! The majority are underemployed and don't look like they're buying a house any time soon. But I'm sure they'd say "oh i'd like to get married one day". Hell I'm actually anti-marriage yet that's exactly what I tell people when asked!

Just to clarify: my observations are based around women who graduated high school around 1994-97 (Gen X) as opposed to the ones who graduated 2002-2003 (Millenials).

So it's not like I'm saying 24-year-olds are running out to get hitched. What I see is the 29 year old more likely to be married or with a kid than her 37 year old sister. In fact, my original post didn't even mention "women in their twenties" per se.

I have a friend in the wedding industry who planted this seed in my head. He said he kept seeing older sisters as bridesmaids still looking for their groom. Then I started noticing it in real life. Maybe it's just here in the Balt.-DC area but I see a divide.

I think you are right. The Gen X women got a double push on their hamster wheel:

1) They grew up when all their aunts were paired off. Spinsterhood was an existential threat.

2) They were told over and over 'there is someone for everyone' or the religious version 'as god made them he matched them'. Think of how insidious these phrases are. Essentially they say 'you can bring any package to the SMP and you will get what you want."


Their younger sisters grew up watching their older sisters NOT pair off. They witnessed the awkward holiday conversations, they saw their sisters pine away while denying that they needed a man. Suddenly 'there is someone for everyone' seemed to have A LOT of caveats, and they did what every human does - they responded to incentives.

Might be. My sample set is admittedly very small and preselected.

No matter what, finding a half way decent wife candidate is a difficult task. The quality just isn't there.

The best way to know if the times are a changing is to see what story is being told in the media (News, Movies, TV shows, advertising). The artists are the antennas for the race and reflect what is already rife in the culture (zeitgeist), and the media further panders to it.

If we watch movies, TV shows, advertising and books from the 40s onward, feminism was foreshadowed long before it became the accepted gold standard.

That said, life is cyclical, and feminism won't last because it's a reactionary answer to women not feeling fulfilled. Instead of developing into a higher-level form of feminine, they went on the path of becoming an undeveloped, lower-level form of the masculine.

I suspect the pendulum will again swing the other way to get rid of feminism, but it won't come from women. It will come from men, and it may be a reactionary answer again.

Time will tell, but to keep updated on it, look to all forms of media and what is being espoused.

Here's an epiphany I had a few days ago.

I have a female friend named Mel. She's my age (28). Unlike a lot of women here age, Mel still looks great. She has a great career, money, health, and in general is still a pretty good catch. She just got engaged to a cool guy.

I have another friend, Lindsay. She's also 28, but life has not been so kind to her. Over the past three years she has dropped from an ~8.5 to about a 4, partly because of some weight gain, but mostly just the ravages of time. She used to be quite hot and got banged out by some cool guys (such as yours truly) so her standards remain unreasonable. In other words, she's on a one-way train to meowtown.

For women, delaying marriage is status signalling. Delaying marriage communicates that a woman is confident her beauty will persist in her early middle age, and that she will be able to provide for herself with a high-status career. Young men take physical risks to show off to each other, young women take the reproductive risk of delaying marriage.

First of all, thanks for the share. It is an interesting comparison between two women in the same range.

If I may offer a slightly different perspective. It could mean she has poor decision making skills, and inability to process data properly. Maybe not so much confidence as delusional. Granted women are not considered the thinking gender between the two (or the several now given all the gender talk on the internet these days - there is male or female - thanks for playing). But some women get it. Most don't.
