Great post. I really like the idea of pushing your boundaries and setting aside time for comfort. I'm an introvert and it wears me out to constantly be around people. I need the time to relax.

I started getting shirts tailored a few months ago and I have seen similar results. Not only with women, but when I am on campus and I have a big day where I need to get stuff done I will dress up. People just roll right out of my way. I know I wouldn't have the same luck in LA or NYC but on campus it works wonders. People are a lot more accommodating when you are dressed better than them.

I bought my first blazer and pocket square yesterday. I'm excited to try that out.

I'm an introvert too. It's important to know how to recharge.

Myself, I lay on a rug in my living room and listen to Beethoven or Mahler with my eyes closed and the lights dimmed or off. Sometimes with herbal tea. I know it sounds hokey but other introverts can relate I'm sure.

The comfort thing is a paradox. It's important to push your boundaries but at the same time know when it's time to recharge. I find one or two nights to myself is good for me. Throughout this process of gaming there have been nights when I pushed myself to go out when I didn't feel like it. Sometimes it worked out but most of the time it doesn't. If you're introverted, it's very important to take care of yourself first and then when you feel recharged and released of stress, then you can go out and assume the extrovert persona.

Boxing is great but one of the things I especially love about lifting is it's a solo activity. Just you and some dead weight, and the thoughts in your head. It's a beautiful thing.

I can totally relate. I need silence, stillness, etc. Everyone else I know is always stimulated by something. A lot of times I would rather just stare off into space than anything else.

Thanks for the advice. I don't put as much effort into taking care of myself as I should.

I'm introverted to. I know all about that. I often have to force myself to go out. I could easily sit home all weekend in front of the fireplace listening to music and reading shit. Usually when I do force myself out, I'm glad once I actually get out, it's just the activation energy to do so gets greater as you age.

On the topic of suits, what about summer? I hear about dudes getting suited up to go to Vegas but it's so damn hot there in the summer, and then dancing in your suit and sweating it up. Do you guys who rock suits still do it when it's 90 degrees out?

More like 110 out in Vegas.

Here's the deal with suiting up in Vegas:

-The dress code is usually collared shirt anyway, so wearing a suit coat too is the final touch.

-Your hotel room has AC.

-The casino has AC.

-Taxis/Limos have AC.

-The clubs have AC.

The only time you're actually outside is maybe waiting 45 minutes outside for a cab.

Hold up...

You won't wait for more then 5 minutes if you tip the bellman $10 to skip the line.

So in essence, being suited up in Vegas during 110 degree heat is not a big deal at all, and the rewards are definitely top notch.

I have so many blazers, I had to rent storage space to keep some of them -- I love Harris Tweed and Herringbone, but they get limited shine time in Miami.

Tried out the suit thing a couple of weeks ago, pocket square, nice dress shirt. I kept getting asked if I was a host. This was in the higher end clubs. Usually this lead to a good conversation but nothing solid. Also at a few clubs it was very common to see other guys rocking the suit and pocket square.
I do get treated pretty well by staff though.

Maybe I need a better suit to stand out

One thing I did notice is that when I go out in a plain black v neck I get more attention from girls that are DTF. I have pulled more SNL in a black v neck then with any other attire. I work out regularly and it shows with a v neck. When I'm in a suit I look like just another joe.

Play to your strengths.

If you're being asked if you're the host, then your suit suggests that you're working, not that you're getting it in.

A better suit isn't always the answer, you can be in the suit, but it's just one tool in the arsenal.

Could have been girls just opening you. Women suck at opening and say some really dumb shit. If you're leaning against a bar with a drink in your hand, clearly you're not working. She might have been trying to pick up on you.

For you guys that suit up every time you go out, what about suits during the day? If you're planning to day game, would you walk around the mall on a Sunday afternoon suited down? Grocery shopping? Getting your hair cut? Do you wear the same suit for night and day?

Wear a suit all the time for a week any/every time you go out, no matter where (save for gym of course). You'll get so used to it that you'll feel comfortable in it. Nothing wrong with day gaming in a suit since you were probably going somewhere or coming from somewhere where a suit was appropriate("yeah just came from a board meeting" or "its easier to rob a bank in one" with a smirk if she asked why you are wearing one, which she prob won't if you are in a metropolitan city).

Its gotta be in context and fit your frame though. Some men can't pull that shit during the day in a non-alcoholic setting.

Hopefully you have more than one suit but as long as you aren't sweating you should be fine with one as long as you change up the shirts and accessories.

At night pop the pocket square in a more creative fashion, drop the tie if you were wearing one during the day.

Be sure to pair up with great shoes. Also make sure the dress shirt is matching up well with you and your suit. Even plain white comes in a variety of collars, some which will frame your face and provide a backdrop for your suit better than others.

Forgot to mention the most important part... Your suit should fit well. Cost is way less important than cut/fit. I suggest Black Lapel custom suits(really its made to measure from China) for $450-550. They fit like a glove and good quality to boot.

I relate to this quite well... except Mahler... that would suck the will to live out of me. Beethoven and green tea sound quite nice though. Sometimes I have the will to push myself but I know I need to take care of #1 first. Whether it's sleep or exercise or making the right meal. Sometimes you have to go through the discomfort of not going out to take care of the behind-the-scenes. I feel guilty for doing it, but what's the point of gaming if you're falling apart on the inside.

In regards to suiting: I saw a guy with a pocket square tied into a pocket square the other day... I can't wait to see the insanity that's going to walk around in spring [Image: lol.gif]

NYC will be so saturated with suit game in the next few months we'll be seeing circles of guys comparing pocket square folds and material a la American Psycho. Then we'll have girls choosing guys based on what they like. "Ugh pinstripes no way. Omigod, woow glenplaid. Oh but I had that last week. Wait, I've never seen that shade of charcoal. No, I got it - cutaway collar and single vent; totally winking at him."

Suits take you farther, but don't loosen your game because of them. Sure the attention will feel like electricity but you still have to move things forward. Reminds me of Roosh's 9 points.

That said, in the summer I might stick to a polo or linen/cotton blazer in the day time and leave the suit for the cooler nights. That white blazer sounds like a good idea, throw in a nice peak lapel.

If too many guys wear suits, suit game will become the norm, then you'll see me in a leather biker jacket.

Several decades ago, almost every man wore a suit or blazer. The 1960s hit and that all changed. If every guy starts wearing a suit again, it won't matter. Just like anything else in game, there are going to be people who do it better than others.

A suit is a classic look. You can do a lot with them- there's a great deal of variation. I'm still waiting for the travolta 70s lapel style to make a come back because I think it looks really cool.

I am allergic to suits. Maybe it´s because of my blue collar background.

I am into dance, sports and minimalism so it´s against my identity.

Spot on.

It will still be all about the details and subtle variations, which most of the big-time players are already doing.

In my opinion you need a good physique and good tailoring to really make it work, and most guys will never hit that.

This is a very good post. I kept thinking of only one thing while reading the original post: The Book of Pook. Pook talks about self improvement first and for most. Work hard on yourself and your goals. Women will come as the result.

And my variation on Emmanuel Kant: Women are a means to an end, not an end unto itself.

Welcome to the lunacy that is my life =). Now rock a loud square.

Funny enough, any brand will do. I have a Jos A Bank (Jose A Banks, hahha) one that girls literally love. Total cost 16.50. Theres also a couple spots in dtown that you can pick up 4-5 for 20-25 buxs.
