Yep and I think it's a reason a lot of start ups and tech companies are located in places like the Bay Area in CA and the Seattle metro area in WA. A chicken or egg question: do living and working in those places turn you into a SWPL hipster or do SWPL hipsters just naturally graduate towards those places?

Tech geeks started out very anti-state but it's amazing how quickly they will sell out to make a buck.

Bill Gates
Zuckerberg
The Google guys
Even Pax Dickinson recently

Casual sexism or sex-based jokes on the internet got a laugh six years ago but the former Wild West has been tamed.

A recent WaPo article on Hillary Clinton had this gem:

Quote:Quote:

Today, if someone tried to start a Facebook group called “Hillary Clinton: Stop Running for President and Make Me a Sandwich” — in 2008, this group had more than 40,000 members — it’s hard to imagine it would last long. (In fact, thanks to an online feminist campaign, Facebook now bans gender-based hate speech.) And if an opponent laughed it off when asked “How do we beat the bitch?,” as John McCain did at a 2007 event in South Carolina, he or she would be toast.

I imagine hate speech laws are on the way as well as IRS harassment or local law enforcement campaigns against crimethinkers. With parallel construction, it is incredibly easy for law enforcement to conjure evidence or have it planted on political badthinkers. EFF calls it "intelligence laundering."

Quote:Quote:

As the NSA scoops up phone records and other forms of electronic evidence while investigating national security and terrorism leads, they turn over "tips" to a division of the Drug Enforcement Agency ("DEA") known as the Special Operations Division ("SOD"). FISA surveillance was originally supposed to be used only in certain specific, authorized national security investigations, but information sharing rules implemented after 9/11 allows the NSA to hand over information to traditional domestic law-enforcement agencies, without any connection to terrorism or national security investigations.

But instead of being truthful with criminal defendants, judges, and even prosecutors about where the information came from, DEA agents are reportedly obscuring the source of these tips. For example, a law enforcement agent could receive a tip from SOD—which SOD, in turn, got from the NSA—to look for a specific car at a certain place. But instead of relying solely on that tip, the agent would be instructed to find his or her own reason to stop and search the car. Agents are directed to keep SOD under wraps and not mention it in "investigative reports, affidavits, discussions with prosecutors and courtroom testimony," according to Reuters.

Eh, at this point who cares.

I don't even use my facebook account anymore. Twitter is a lot more convenient.

In fact, considering what they did to Roosh, I am going to go ahead and delete my facebook account today.

Maybe you can set up a tumblr page that automatically updates with new ROK and/or RooshV posts as they get published. Works the same way as linking your blog to a twitter feed. Not sure tumblr would reach a wider audience in the way a FB could, but it's probably better than nothing.

I suspect a Tumblr account would attract far more attention to the site than Facebook ever did - because it's where all the fragile, hysterical people dwell, and it's far easier for them to reblog things to maintain off the offended circle jerk. They won't be able to help themselves.

I can't delete it because I have to use it for work (selling crap to gullible women, mostly), but I deleted almost all of my info from my profile, locked down everything to the max (almost everything is visible to only me or friends - acquaintances (which make up 60% of "friends")) and untagged myself from all except a few pictures. I'm practically blank now.

Of course, Facebook immediately noticed that and started bothering me to answer where I went to school, where I work, where I was born, who I'm fucking and so on. In your dreams, Zuckerberg!

What are tumblr like when it comes to banning things that hurt fee-fees? This has massive potential.

It would work best as disguised performance:

"The Worst Of ROK: The Things Cishet Shitlords Actually Believe"

Say you're a 21 year old genderfluid black-identifying dragonkin hellbent of destroying patriarchy

Link to the articles, pull selective, out-of-context quotes that will inflame outrage.

Basically: wind 'em up and let 'em go.

This is focused more on getting traffic for pron, but has good ideas that can be used for most anything.

Gotta love how FB is limiting the amount of people who see FB fan page posts in order to force page owners to pay for a boost. Here's an idea... if people like a page, let them see all of its posts. Novel. Only 10-20% of my fans see my posts. Some of that could be a timing issue, but most of it is FB straight up blocking views. I barely see a lot of posts from pages I've liked and I always scan back for things I missed in my newsfeed.

Some time around the beginning of December, Facebook changed its algorithm in such a way that every user's news feed was tweaked slightly - more relevant, newsy-type stories and shared articles by friends would be seen, but at the expense of posts by pages. Many businesses, including small-to-medium-sized businesses that can't really afford huge marketing budgets, saw the potential of social media marketing some years back and have built up healthy followings and a good number of likes on their Facebook pages. However, this recent move by Facebook is an attempt to get companies to pay to reach these audiences

Seems like Roosh (and all the other page owners) had already lost the use of Facebook to reach the fans. So it's not that big of a loss. I have my own page and I agree, I can now reach only 25 percent of the people I used to reach before December

I'm surprised you aren't more angry.

Isn't facebook a big source of traffic to RoK and hence a big source of ad revenue?

Did you lose all your archives of messages in your inbox and everything? Are there some people you will lose contact with because you don't have other updated contact info for them?

With the contacts, I have them synced with my smartphone so even if the account was deleted, I'd be good.

I wonder if facebook really cares about women's rights as much as they say.

It's impossible now to "hide" yourself from being searched as of January 2014.

I wonder how many women will be found by a crazy ex now, since they cannot hide themselves from being searched.

Before, to find a person who is hidden you'd have to find someone with an open friends list that had them on their list. Could be done, but wasn't easy. Most people on facebook still do use the their real first/last name. I noticed the first/middle name thing isn't as big as it was once was.

Facebook really cares.

I just changed my real name to something random. I think I might make a new account to lightly troll and for events, concerts, etc. I think your Friends can see everything you write in groups, private profiles, private statuses, etc so be careful.

Was the ban perhaps automated? In other words, it triggers a warning after X complaints, gives the user Y hours to remove it, then shuts the account down?

FB must get so much junk and spam posted on their site, it seems to me like they don't have the manpower to review these items manually.

If it is automated, why not play the same trick? Get a bunch of ROK members to flag some useless feminist post on FB and get their account shut down?

This seems pretty worrying.... How much is this going to limit RoK's reach compared to before?

I got banned from Facebook about 6 years ago for using a Facebook bot to promote an account. I got back on by emailing/spamming a bunch of emails for customer support. This was years ago before Facebook was as huge as it is now, but might still be worth a shot.

How is this any different from the rules of the forum? If a forum member violates forum rules - whether he's aware of them or not - he gets banned. Some members get banned without any warning while others get a few chances. And no banned member has the right to appeal that decision.

The main difference is that facebook is a massive, general-purpose site designed to be used by a broad, open-ended audience.

Yes. This statement should be true (our expectation), but is it? The kind of community FB is deserves further thought and analysis.

My sense is that if you can be banned from a community, that community has rules. It is not a completely open society.

This ban will not prevent offended people from posting ROK articles to Facebook and getting 160,000 likes in the future, if i am not mistaken about how this all went down. Viral effects are still quite possible.

Opportunity for the brain trust at ROK write about this banning and Facebook in general. I think FB is potentially one of the hot button items akin to some of the previous posts. Females are addicted to it like crack. It is their reality.
