How have you dealth with STDs?

As far as I know the CDC or IDSA guidelines don't recommend anything that contradicts what I wrote above but admittedly I'm not very familiar with differences in practice guidelines outside the US. HIV PrEP for hookers isn't something I know a whole lot about either but that's a completely different patient population than what we're talking about here.

Russia. I admit the practices and population here are probably not the same as those in the US. Either way, what I was saying was that if you bang a lot of girls in a short period of time in a region with a high level of risk, then it's reasonable to take the medication as long as you don't do it often (which I also mentioned earlier). The alternative is having to delay treatment or test on 2-3 different dates in order to detect everything in the right window. I don't think guys on this forum are going to lay off banging for a month while they're waiting to get a definitive test result for Trich or something less common.

That's why it's standard practice after occasional risky events here.. probably also because the HIV rate is astronomical amongst hookers and their clients, and it's safer to ensure no other STDs exist than to wait during an extended period of diagnostics.

After saying that, I think your advice is right for people who haven't been outside the US or Western Europe, where infection rates are lower and the stats+reporting are more thorough and understood.

If you're truly waiting a month for test results to come back, then that does sound more reasonable. STD diagnostics that I've seen and that I've had done on myself (including cultures) typically come back within 2-3 days and I can't imagine why your doctor couldn't just call you with the results and call in a script if a test comes back positive, but maybe there's some barrier to that in other parts of the world that I don't know about.

HIV prophylaxis after banging a hooker I could also understand being more aggressive about because there is good data that getting antiretrovirals on board soon after exposure reduces the incidence of infection, plus the stakes with HIV are much higher than with other STDs that are not going to cause permanent harm if you delay treatment for a few days while still asymptomatic. The antibiotics you mentioned don't have anything to do with this though.

I'd be interested if there is any data supporting differences in practices in different regions. Is there anything like the IDSA or CDC in Russia that has looked at the evidence in their country and put together guidelines?

How many times do you have to take gonorrhea and chlamydia medicine before your body starts rejecting the anti biotics? That's what I'm scared of.

The only reliable data is from pregnant women. Central Asian immigrants don't get tested because they fear being deported. Most Russians believe STDs are something that only drug addicts, prostitutes and 'dirty' immigrants have. Also, the data is collected at the regional level rather than nationally. For example, Odessa has a huge problem with HIV - it's already in the general population there, so they have campaigns to test for it and most doctors have 15-min test kits. St. Petersburg has a problem with Trich and Chlamydia.

The reason they treat early is because it takes 1-2 weeks after exposure before the test can be taken, then about a week for test results to come back, then another week for the treatment. By that time it's close to a month and no Russian guy will abstain for that length of time. Also, condom usage here is practically non-existent except for the first week or two, so there's a large chance that an infection will increase the risk of getting another one. Most girls use Mifepristone as their only form of birth control.

I wouldn't want to do it more than once a year.. as rarely as possible. You should only take them if there's a high probability that you have something.

I have to unsubscribe from this thread. I was out with one of my girls sitting next to her, and a notification came up on my phone with this thread title. If I hadn't already fucked her, that could have been trouble.

Its not your body rejecting antibiotics it depends on what strain you get if you get a strain which is resistant to the antibiotics given the antibiotics wont work. But you should only take antibiotics if prescribed by a doctor and to make sure you take the whole course of antibiotics so don't stop taking them half way through even if you feel better.

You should avoid taking antibiotics if you don't actually need them, as they will mess up the natural flora in your gut.

I used to take quite a few of them when I was younger for the purpose of treating acne and I think that was a mistake now, knowing what I do.

More and more it seems that studies are coming out showing the importance of maintain a healthy micro biome within the digestive tract, and how that is tied to overall health.

If you do have to run a course, them make sure to take some good probiotics afterwards.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

I don't take dick medicine unless I get checked out and get it from the doctor because I have something. I'm saying what if you're getting burned over and over and taking them once or twice a year to get rid of razor blades.

Twice a year is a lot. In that case, you should go to the doc and make sure you keep a record of which antibiotics you're taking. You'll need to use a different one each time so you don't build up resistance.

Just got a text from a chick who recently left my harem- claiming she has chlamydia and that I should get tested. She apparently doesn't know who gave it to her. I haven't slept with her in at least a month (thank heavens), and I'm definitely not experiencing any of the symptoms.

How have you dealth with STDs?

In 2008 I was working for a record company in Hollywood, and I was living in a pretty lively apartment community full of aspiring actors and actresses. I soon found out that gaming at bars and clubs were a waste in comparison to the community hot tubs. I met and hooked up with plenty of women there, but there was one standout...

This one girl seemed to be trying really hard to win me over. She would take me out to Trader Joe's to buy craft beer, and she would taking me to bars and cover my tabs. She preferred gay bars in West Hollywood for typical, but I didn't think much of it at the time. She claimed to be bi, but I never tested that claim. I was too out of rhythm because I was doing nothing in the pursuit.

Anyways, I move to New York a month later and come down with this terrible fever. I'm always around 104 & 105 for a week straight. My throat isn't sore, but I just feel like complete shit. What I thought was odd was the fact I hadn't been in much contact with anyone surround the move and the period after so the flu seemed kind of like a stretch. Anyways, I am coming down from the illness but get into a doctors appointment anyway. They run some tests and can't come up with anything. They ask about my sex life, and I answer honestly. Then they say the only thing they can think of is an acute HIV infection, but I have to wait two months to take the test. This is due to the three month from exposure period rule when it comes to accurate test results.

You can imagine the next two months of my life were hell. All I wanted was to teleport two months in the future to know for sure, but I couldn't. I had to spend every day of two months figuring out a life plan change in the case I had contracted HIV. The more I thought about this girl (in my state of mind at the time), the more it made sense. She was bi and frequented gay bars in one of the most HIV prone bar districts in the US. Being bi, she had probably hooked up with bi men that had probably hooked up with full-on gay men. After thinking about it long enough, I just accepted my fate (even though I didn't know it yet). I had fully convinced my self I was positive without even having a diagnosis yet.

I went to the clinic thrilled as hell to submit my samples for the test. At that point I was convinced I was positive, so I could only receive great news. I gave my blood and left to return in a week or so. Over that week I continued mental preparation for the worst. I prayed, that no matter the diagnosis, that it would have a positive impact over the rest of my life. I believe that either road handed to me was indeed my destiny.

Finally, it was results day. I strutted into a clinic past a young woman crying to a phone. I was ready to hear which path in life I was headed down. I went back in the exam room and played air drums because I was anxious. Eventually, the physician came in with the news... I was negative. I collected my shit and head straight to the liquor store to buy $250 worth of cheap alcohol to throw a party. I had dodged the bullet, and it was time to celebrate with friends.

Up to my diagnosis, I was so set in thought that I was positive. The liquor store was happening either way. If I was indeed positive, I was buying the same beer and inviting the same people. I was going to party the same way, but it was going to be to celebrate a revelation and a change of direction.

That scare was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I remember walking in the streets wondering why some brat had it better than me. Why they weren't mentally suffering as I was. However, eventually I started pitying those because they didn't realize how short live was. They may never actually tap into their potential. Now I know the value of my life, and I spend every day improving myself. The only TV I watch is basketball so I may analyze plays in real time to improve my understanding of the game itself. All other free time is spent writing music, mixing records, and building relationships. There is no time in life to not improve yourself.

Remember, raw or not, if you swim with the sharks you will eventually be bit. If you do end up with an incurable, think of ways that it can positively improve your life. Remember, someone on this planet is positively impacted by every negative thing that happens.

At an "Out of the Closet" thrift store i got a "free" HIV test. The testing administrator looked me in the eye and said i was HIV positive, before correcting herself, she meant to say negative. She was looking at the wrong chart.

I've never been so happy and angry at the same time. I didn't give them their suggested donation that day.

In all seriousness, that 1 second pause before she corrected herself was Hell on Earth.

That's what you get for having a medical test done at a thrift shop.

For sure, it was several years ago before i knew better. My first thought when i saw the lady administering the test was that she dressed like a taco truck cook. Should have taken that as a sign to GTFO.

A couple of years ago i woke up to find some STI symptoms. I went to the Doctor that morning and it ended up being a type of bacterial infection you can get from eating undercooked meat. Took some super high powered antibiotics and was cleared in about a week. Definitely not fun, but doable..

Getting an STD test at a thrift shop is like getting your car fixed at hooters. It's good in the beginning, but then you realize no one knows WTF they're doing.

Don't know to this day. Probably some nasty viral infection not related to sex.

The only other scare I've had was this past Christmas when I was visiting family in Washington. Had a swollen urethra and milky drainage. Got checked out and came up negative for anything bacterial (in the STI dept). They just gave me antibiotics for a UTI and that actually took care of the problem. Something must have found its way up my urethra I guess.

It was a hilariously inconvenient time to display symptoms. I was in wine country Washington for a week and had burning piss practically the whole time.

Anyways, I usually run a gauntlet of tests before adding a notch now. I've had good luck so far, but it's impossible to be sure of who you are sleeping with is safe.

HPV and Herpes (HSV) are completely different. If you have to get an STD I would much rather get HPV which is for the most part benign. From the CDC:

Quote:Quote:

What are the signs and symptoms of HPV?
Most men who get HPV never develop any symptoms or health problems.

In a few cases you may develop genital warts (treatable), but that is about it.

Not sure exactly--but according to the stats you have a much better chance of getting HPV than HSV.

Per the CDC on HPV:
Quote:Quote:

About 79 million Americans are currently infected with HPV. About 14 million people become newly infected each year. HPV is so common that most sexually-active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives.

Compare that to the stats on Genital Herpes HSV-2:

Quote:Quote:

CDC estimates that, annually, 776,000 people in the United States get new herpes infections. Genital herpes infection is common in the United States. Nationwide, 16% of persons aged 14 to 49 years have HSV-2 infection. [1] The overall prevalence of genital herpes is likely higher than 16.2%, because an increasing number of genital herpes infections are caused by HSV-1.

According to the LA county health department it is harder for men to get HSV-2 compared to women

Quote:Quote:

Females are at higher risk of getting HSV2
– Female to male transmission (no condom, no
visible symptoms): 4%
– Male to female transmission (no condom, no
visible symptoms): 17%

According to a 2011 study the transmission rates for HPV are about equal for men and women:

Quote:Quote:

If one person in a heterosexual couple has human papillomavirus (HPV), there's a 20 percent chance his or her partner will pick up the virus within six months.

The study, the largest-yet analysis of HPV transmission rates, found no difference between male-to-female transmission rates and female-to-male transmission rates.
