Nootropics, also referred to as smart drugs, memory enhancers, neuro enhancers, cognitive enhancers, and intelligence enhancers, are drugs, supplements, nutraceuticals, and functional foods that improve mental functions such as cognition, memory, intelligence, motivation, attention, and concentration.

How many of you actively take nootropics?

2g of phenibut has me feeling really good and is anti-anxiety. Music sounds good, similar to a low dose of shitty E.

Beware, mixing with a couple drinks is fine, but you hit a wall fast and need to keep drinking light.

I posted about Modafinil recently, a chick I know that had some, she described as "it made me feel like the boss".

How was the noopept? Some people say that it raises blood pressure.

Had my first try of Modanifil today, wasn't too overwhelmed by the effect it had on me. Don't feel tired, and it definitely suppressed my appetite, but eating wasn't difficult like it can be if you've taken MDMA or Coke. Other than that I didn't feel level of focus some of the other guys have been reporting.

I'll up the dose from 200mg to 300mg and see if that makes much of a difference.

It also made my piss stink, smelt really strange; like I'd eaten a shit load of asparagus but worse. Not sure if it'd make my cum taste like it smells - Anyone got any info on this??

Quite keen to give Noopept a try.

Ordered Alpha Brain by Onnit a few weeks back.. should be showing up sometime this week or next. Look forward to trying it out, will give an update of what I think after some experimentation.

Here's my take on some "entry-level" Nootropics:

The Entry-Level Nootropic Stack

And I'm a big fan of Modafinil. Great focus, great workouts, 12 hours of perfect energy and focus with just 100mg:

Modafinil: Part of a balanced breakfast

IMO guys should be much more concerned with optimizing their cognition. We sweat and grind and supplement to grow an extra inch around the bicep, but wouldn't an extra 10 IQ points be much more beneficial in the long run?

If you're new to noots, start with caffeine + theanine and go from there.

I've tried several noots and I never feel that they actually do anything. Maybe I am expecting too much.

It's really stimulating for the minimal amount you're intaking. I haven't taken it with a choline source, though, but stand-alone I'd give it 6.5/10. I need to get some alpha-gpc and try it like that to really see the full potential.

Phenibut and kratom are where it's at, though. SWIM hasn't taken GHB, but SWIM has heard it's the ultimate nootropic.

How do you guys feel about taking these long-term? I didn't feel that the Modafinil did much for me, and I wanted to avoid becoming dependant. Although this is apparently chemically not possible?

L-theanine is my personal favorite. Helps you focus and reduces anxiety without turning you into a retarded zombie like RX anti-anxiety meds do. Also makes for a bitchin' confidence increasing combo with alcohol...

*edit* Also, as far as I know, amino acids (which L-theanine is) carry no tolerance potential.

Noopept makes a world of difference for me.

The first 2 days I took Noopept, I felt like Superman.

After those 2 days, the only thing it did for me was give me very harsh short term memory loss.

After trying it for a week and a half, I finally stopped it when these 2 incidences occurred

1)I got in the car to go to Publix, and halfway through the trip I forget where I was going

2) When I called my boss over our company phone system to see if he got my training report package, and he asked me if I was trolling him because I had already asked him that question 5 minutes ago.

Was forced to stop taking it.

I have also tried Phenibut and theanine. The only effect that I got from both substances was lethargy, and not giving a shit...about anything including leaving my house.

Phenibut helped me have some of the most restful night sleep ever though.

Currently just sticking to meditation, though I have started looking into TDCS:

Here's the thing, a lot of people have said they had their experience and it wasn't this or wasn't that, i.e. what they expected. That's fine, and maybe what they imagined didn't become reality, but I know this, you can't read what GLL does or what V. Pride does and say ok I'll do that and expect the same results.

The shit is trial and error. You have to figure out how it's going to work out for you, maybe you have to space out your dosages, maybe you have to take more than the next person, maybe you have to figure out what you can add to it to potentiate the experience, but that's how it's going to work out for most people, if it's going to work out at all.

That GoodLookingLoser series on Kratom was really thorough, definitely going to order a few ounces and see what the hype is all about.

Modafinil is great for long-term use as long as you don't build up tolerance, I've kept my weekly total dose below 1g though just to make sure.

Of the racetams I've only tried Piracetam, what's Noopept and the others like? I find Piracetam gives me an incredible creativity boost.

Also I've heard about Selegeline being used to enhance motivation, any thoughts?

I have L-theanine as part of my supplements.

I'm generally a mellow and chill dude. Nothing gets me going unless its a serious life threatening event.
I've found L-theanine's calming/focus effect only when i mix it with alcohol or i take 600mg plus a can of redbull.

Its a cool effect but i can see how you could build up a tolerance to it over time.
I've also tried modafinil with no effect on me either.

I have a medical weed prescription and it doesn't do anything for me either.
Maybe i'm 1 of the few people this shit doesn't effect.

It sounds from this thread like there's no consensus on nootropics.

For some people it does nothing, for others it makes them more aware and focused.

I started taking Alpha Brain a couple weeks ago. Indeed I have noticed that I feel more focused and able to think long-term. It helps me be more genuine and act like myself, but a more effective version of myself, someone who gets shit done. So far I think it's worth it.

At nearly $1/pill though, it's expensive. I hear you can make your own pills for much cheaper.

Maybe I'll report back in at the end of the bottle in a month or so.

Surely that's gotta be worth a dollar a day to you in extra productivity??

Please do report back after a month. I'm trying the Modafinil at 200mg a day, spaced doses, for a week after reading this thread.

The only thing that sucks about modafinil is the subconscious feeling you have the next day that you're back to being human.

I use two pills a day, one in the morning and one a few hours before visiting the sandman. And yeah, about $2/day is worth it. I may not have been able to afford it in my younger and more vulnerable years.

Basically if you have the cash and are an ambitious dude, and you feel that it does something for you, Alpha Brain is worth it. Buy in bulk if you can. Take a test run of the 90ct bottle before upgrading.

If you buy directly from onnit.com it's pricier but they refund your money if you so request. I don't believe that they'll refund your money if you buy through Amazon, which is cheaper.
