South Korea claims world's first cancer-treating nanorobot

Quote:Quote:

South Korean scientists say it will soon be possible to treat cancer with nanorobots as a more efficient, less harmful alternative to chemotherapy.

They have genetically modified non-toxic salmonella bacteria to deliver microscopic capsules filled with drugs, directly to cancer tumors. The bacteria are drawn to the tumors by the chemicals secreted by cancer cells. Once the bacteria arrive, the capsules release their drugs, attacking the tumor while leaving healthy cells alone.

Yes, it's very possible, maybe even likely, that nanobots will be the way we'll get some real cures for cancer and other problems. Just send them in and get rid of every last bad cell.

That Korean team is good.

It's funny -- it seemed like progress in medicine has been a little slow lately, but the truth is that there are a lot of amazing things brewing just under the surface and some real game-changing innovations are coming. Stay tuned...

It's great that they were able to figure out a way to get it to target just the cancer cells.

Hate to burst the bubble of excitement but this is just like executing criminals while creating them trough broken families and divorce industry.

Now people will continue to develop cancers AND have mechanic robot foreign bodies in their bodies. How cool is that?

The cultural paradigm of a police state both inside and outside of us. Drones outside, nano robots inside.

What are you talking about? Get rid of the cancer cells, no more cancer. It's as easy as that. There isn't a special organ in people that just pumps out cancer. Cancer is when a single cells goes whacko, and divides without abandon. Like looping "dir /a/s" from root in command prompt, it just goes and goes until you cancel it.

Can't wait to see the results from people trials on this. Can do a lot with this technology.

Have you ever thought about it and researched WHY do cells go "whacko"?

Do you believe that in this universe there are effects without causes?

Maybe love also happens magically when an amour shoots an arrow into someones heart and it is totally beyond human control to make someone fall in/out of love?

Are you really a red pill guy?

There are tons of reasons, chiefly among them would be random mutations, which have been around since the beginning of life (hence, evolution). Long before -presumably by your estimation- the commies were putting fluoride in our water or whatever.

Lol, insulting me isn't going to cure cancer. Your are looking for a cancer vaccine, and really, there are way too many variables to make a cure-all.
Cells need to divide, that's life. There's too much going on to try to figure out exactly why the fat man fell asleep when the switch was in the "on" position. Shit happens, you get cancer. You won't ever be able to figure out exactly why.
The cancer cells get tossed in the trash, and now you can live your life until another cell goes haywire.
This treatment can be used for TONS of other diseases. Find the problem, and attack it specifically, instead of carpet bombing the town, just assassinate leader.

Random mutations? So things like mutations just happen without no cause?

What an anomaly - behold an effect without cause!!!
It seems that cancer has the POWER to break SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM.
I bet you people are all proud of getting cancer - because it means a miracle has happened to you - causality has been overridden by a higher force and a random causeless mutation has been inflicted upon you by a higher force.

So you are saying that if you get cancer then you are a mutant chosen by GOD and then you get to become a cyborg by letting robots flow into your blood. Super cool right?

I get why you like your paradigm.

It's amazing how ignorant people can be.

Live as you like, get cancer if you like and get your robotic treatment if that is your dream. Pay. Then get cancer again and get treatment again. Pay. I have no pity for you, because you choose to live in dark.

Wow, now you really are going off the deep end. Are all the knives dull in your kitchen? That way you won't ever get a booboo.

Who's to say people get cancer again? I think you aren't understanding the way current-day cancer treatment works.
You can
1: get the entire area irradiated to kill all the cells,
2: get the whole chunk cut out,
3: attack the process of cell division itself.
If you missed any crazies, well then they just keep keep on keeping on.

If you could "sniff out" every single cancer cell, and take them out one by one, without effecting the surrounding non-offending cells, seems much better than going under the knife, being blasted with radiotherapy, or injected with .

Yes you are being trolled. By modern pharma-buisness that has planted into you head the idea that cancer magically appears into you body without a cause and that you need fancy and expensive stuff like radiation or robots to get a few more years of life before cancer returns and kills you for good.

Cancer happens randomly in nature, that's a fact. However, I'd agree with Mage (in a more eloquent and less trollish way) that modern living is certainly increasing our chances of developing cancer. Sadly, most people in real life are not as enlightened as most on RVF in ways to live healthily.

Those behind the scenes are selling us the problem and the solution. It's a similar situation with GMOs.

That has to be one of the better ban terms lately, I'm not sure if that's in the official guide yet.

Mage, do you know exactly what causes cancer?

As far as I know, for all current intents and purposes, we can't pinpoint the exact cause of all cancers.

Roosh used to work on this stuff I believe, so he probably knows better than anyone on the forum how it works.

Do you ever make a typo when writing?

That's the 'natural' way your DNA gets mutations in it. The mechanisms which replicate RNA/DNA are not perfect, they make 'typos' and sometimes the proofreading mechanisms miss these typos. If you have the right typo in the right stretch of DNA you get cancer.

Simple as that.

Its a beautiful thing and its a good thing.

I definitely agree when you say its amazing how ignorant some people can be.

This is using in vogue terminology to describe something else. It's a genetically modified bacterium that delivers drugs selectively. While extremely cool, this is not what I imagine when I hear "nano-robot." It is not a wholly artificial construct.
