Country stampede in Kansas this year the headliner is florida georgia line [Image: facepalm.png]

Fuck that noise I'm going on saturday where they have a bunch of the old legends playing: Marshall Tucker, Alabama, Charlie Daniels.

Well, the Florida Georgia Line concert would be a great place to game, gonna be packed with hot WB white girls. The old legends? Mostly men and older boomers.

^^^Country is taking a page out of Hip Hop/Rap also

The Tail Gate Bro era has been going on for a few years also, it's definitely getting annoying.

^^ the snaps are awful, its tough to turn on a country music station these days, so much pop bro country and now the snaps.

I struggle finding new tunes and artists, but the good thing about country is when you find a good one you can just listen to the albums straight through.

I've had some success listening to country music with foreign girls. I got an ex gf from the middle east fully hooked, she became a bigger fan than me. These days if a girl is back at my place having a drink or 2 (latinas), I usually throw a little on to switch things up, because its something they don't hear very often. I agree with the comment in the video above that it is uniquely American so there is an element of sharing culture when sharing the music. They usually say the same thing, "I didn't think I would like country but I really liked it a lot!"

This tunes' got some rock in it but keeps that country vibe, short and sweet

Sturgill Simpson was nominated for a grammy for one of his albums a year or 2 back. It was hilarious that no one knew who he was. He has that old sound.

A guy where I work sometimes plays country and it is really obvious that most of it sounds like hip hop now, even the lyrics aren't really country anymore.

I am glad to hear the technical reason for it.

Martina McBride is still great though. Good country is simple music and honest lyrics about real, and sometimes deep and complex problems of normal people.

These guys get it.

It's funny that the most original country singer right now is a comedian.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.

No More TO, thanks for that Ryan Bingham vid, I had never heard of him before. I was browsing some of his tunes and discovered a song I had heard before but never was able to remember any words to even google the artist. Great tune!

I always liked the country songs that were about hardened men. Never got into the crap you hear on the radio about pickup trucks and shit. That stuff is soy.

This sort of thing.

There's also "Dark Country", which is usually kinda gay but does once in a while have some good stuff.

John Anderson got a mention at least. Live version of Seminole Wind:

How about some pop mid-90s country with BlackHawk?

Chris Stapleton song I haven't seen get a mention yet I think.

Mike Ness/Social Distortion doing honky tonky version of Ball and Chain? Fuck it, why not.

In the simplest since, it's a subculture. Thus, like all other subcultures, if you are able to work your way into it, you will yield massive results if you make the slightest effort to ingratiate yourself with those in the know.

In large swathes of America it has tremendous staying power and if you find yourself in one of the locations you will get very far if you learn the basics of it-- especially country/western dancing and its derivatives.

Don't trash it until you've tried it. In the past, I've found that some of the cutest most conservative women frequent country western bars/ dancehalls looking for a guy that can dance or is willing to play the game. That being said, I used to trash it all the time, but again, that was before I started to frequent the country venues.

Haven’t seen much mention of Nathaniel Rateliff in the past few pages. Stuck on this track at the moment.

The Night Sweats - Hey Mama

You ain’t gone far enough to say at least I tried
You ain’t worked hard enough to say, well I’ve done mine
You ain’t run far enough to say my legs have failed
You ain’t gone far enough
You ain’t worked hard enough
You ain’t run far enough to say
It ain’t gonna get any better

Edit: Can’t seem to get the code to embed the video right, apologies

Nuanced lyrics...

Some of it you learn the hard way
Some of it you read on a page
Some of it comes from heartbreak
Most of it comes with age
And none of it ever comes easy
A bunch of it you maybe can't use
I know I don't prob'ly know what I think I do
But there's somethin' to
Some of it
