It never ceases to amaze me at the number of pro Republican and pro Democrat members here....all arguing for or against a particular politician or politicians. As if there's any real substantial difference between the two.

There isn't.

But for those still stuck in the spectator sport of cheering for Team Donkey or Team Elephant....or are still so concerned with defeating Team Blue or defeating Team Red, you may want to have a looksee at the following photos of the recent US Politician's trip to Nelson Mandela's funeral:

Obamas, Bushes and Clintons. Do these look like real opponents? Or chummy members of the same damned club?

The are only two real parties in the US.

The 1% elite powerbrokers and their political puppets on BOTH sides of the aisle, and the 99% of us who are to be ruled, divided and conquered.

That doesn't mean anything. A better argument is that Obama and Mccain's top donators were essentially the same. Many of the same companies who donated to Bush also donated to Obama. That shows that their political views are not very different.

But having them meet together for Mandela's funeral? No biggie. You are acting like Obama is supposed to loathe Bush, and that Bush is supposed to loathe Clinton. They ARE members of the same club. They were all president of THE UNITED STATES.

Oh really? You wouldn't know it by the number of RVF members that seemed to think there's a big difference between one side or the other. But when you look at pics like these, it's obvious they are not the "opponents" the mainstream media seems to portray them as.

That's not a better argument...it's almost exactly the same one I made initially: "The 1% elite powerbrokers and their political puppets on BOTH sides of the aisle..."

I've been seeing this make the rounds like it's some grand "ah hah" moment. I think it means nothing. If anything it says something about Nelson Mandela that his death is cause for people of various political parties to put aside their squabbling and interact with each other. Part of being a good statesman is being amicable with the predecessor of the office. These are men that have all had their hands on the nuclear codes and sat in the most powerful chair in the world. That is a bonding experience regardless of party background. That does not mean that they will agree on the role of government in health care or whether the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy should be allowed to expire. It just means that we had a peaceful transition of power and the head of state shows a certain level of dignity and respect to previous heads of states. I think this is the mark of a civil society.

The whole left right paradigm is nonsense. There isn't a difference between the two parties. They both support warfare and welfare. They're like Hulk Hogan versus The Iron Sheikh. They'll pummel each other in the public arena, but behind the scenes they know it's all show business.

Oh, it's not a grand "ah hah" moment....but it is at least a nominal confirmation when Partisan supporters dismiss the idea that both political parties are not that different, and only put forth the appearance of opposition.

Yeah, sure.

They both support warfare and welfare.

Yup.

Republicans supposedly want more Guns and less Butter.
Democrats supposedly want more Butter and less Guns.

In the end, we get both.

The warfare/welfare state is run by the bi-factional ruling party in D.C.

The argument is the same, I mis-wrote that. The evidence you have holds no weight. There are many pieces of evidence that can point to "left vs. right" serving the same 1%, but a photoshoot of past and current presidents together proves nothing.

I did not offer the OP as "proof" or "evidence," only showing some pics that the mainstream media has largely ignored showing how chummy the 'political opponents' really are in private. Many folks from both sides of the aisle seem to think the guys from one side or the other are evil incarnate and that voting for one of the other is helping "your" side "win."

vinman is right, it's exactly like Hulk Hogan vs. the Iron Sheik.

Real political parties exist to destroy their opponents politically, financially, sometimes physically.

Do the people in those photos look like enemies?
