Gynecomastia

Has anyone had experience with this? I'm only slightly overweight to the point where my upper abs are showing. I've been doing Starting Strength for about a year and have gained quite a bit of muscle. However, I have manboobs. After some research, I think that it is mostly fat with only a small amount of fibrous tissue. It is definitely out of proportion with fat deposits on other parts of my body.

I know this is caused by lowered testosterone and I can attribute this to quite a few years of inactivity, bad eating and high alcohol consumption. To change this I have been exercising for a year and eating Paleo for a few months. Reducing my alcohol consumption is next on the list.

Does anyone have advise as to how to reverse/diminish this? For now I have ruled out surgery and would prefer to use hard word and self-discipline to sort it out.

Gynecomastia

I developed gynecomastia when i hit puberty, right around the time i'd broken my leg and was pretty depressed. I was always thin and fairly muscular for a kid though. However, my gymecomastia may be different than what you're experencing, if you're just overweight. If you have hard lumps under your nipples I can say that it was probably due to high estrogen levels and the hard lumps will become scar tissue and never go away, maybe with surgery but doctors give very little info on it. If you just have man boobs, keep working out. Your body selects which fat deposits it eliminates first, and if it gets to your man boobs last thats the way it goes. Unless you have a six pack with man boobs, I think your only option is to keep burning fat.

Yep, man boobs and love handles are last for me.

Sounds more like fat deposits than breast tissue development to me.

Clean eating and exercise are the only way to get it outta the way.

It's true though, all anti-psychotic medications can cause breast development as a side effect.

To the OP: Alcohol is also a known cause of breast tissue development, by inhibiting testosterone activity. You might want to quit alcohol altogether until the man boobs burn away in the gym.

Yeah, I was being serious.

I was reading that Risperdal can cause Gynecomastia.

It would be interesting to know if the OP has taken or is taking Risperdal.

BPAs(Bisphenol-A) found in soup cans, water bottles, plastic utensils are estrogen imitators and can cause men to grow tits. Soy also has a shitload of xenoestrogens, which can aid the onset of gynecomastia.

There's too much bad shit out there we put in our bodies. It's almost a requisite to get TRT nowadays. I believe most of you could get TRT for $15 a month or so, after your initial appointment at the doctors. It's cheaper and more effective than any of that shit you can buy at GNC.

Thanks guys. No I haven't used Risperdal. I'm going to cut out the alcohol for a few months and work harder in the gym and see if there's an improvement.

If you got real gyno, you will have to go under the knife. No other way.

Are you able to give me some details about your surgery? How did they remove the gland and what was the scarring like? How was your recovery?

Nah it's developed in the last five years or so, my guess because of excessive boozing.

No tech usage prior to surgery. I was really fat. Surgeon did a free nipple graft and removed excess skin. Stayed in the hospital overnight for recovery which went smooth. No gym for at least 5-6 weeks though which was hard for me. I need to do a 2nd surgery though because this surgeon only removed like 60%.

If you just have puffy nipples the procedure is really simple, my case was more of a severe case. But for mild cases they just cut a hole under your nipple and remove tissue and fat and you're out of the hospital in a few hours. No scars at all

i'm traditionally a skinny-fat body type and I have always had manboobs. I thought it might be gyno and considered doing gyno surgery but then I learned about bodybuilding/body recomp and see it as fat. it isn't really puffy or breast-like like the gyno images i see on google and I've only ever been at high bodyfat ranges (18-22%) through my adulthood, so i just assume genetically my body allocates a lot of fat in my chest. i'm cutting right now to 14-15% and will see how my chest looks then.

The definition of gynecomastia is man breasts. You can try cutting but if you feel hard lumps you can be at 5% bodyfat for example and you will still have it.

Surgery is your only option. I would do it. It will change your life. But, you MUST go to the right doc.

There are docs that do this procedure all the time and or are very good at it. And you have to go to those ones.

But, once again, surgery is your only option. There is nothing you can do on your own to get rid of it.

I had this done 4 years ago and it completely changed my life.

Damn! I actually have this problem myself. I drink a lot of bottle water since I stay in a dorm which can be a cause of my man boobs. But I have always had them. Even when skinny,
