Addressing people who are jerks via text only

Some people are just combative via text, but very cool when you're actually talking to them or in person. It can really be anyone too. Usually those who have reached some mid-level management status are the ones who seem to specialize in this.

I get the impression they believe they can hide via text. Like it's not really them. It's just really annoying, in a text they'll wanna start an argument or tell you how much better they are than you, but on phone or in person - totally normal.

Anyone else know what I mean?

Just laugh and stop texting them back. Don't play into an argument with a keyboard warrior

Don't include jerks in your life.

Also, don't take yourself so seriously, it takes two people for someone to be a jerk.

Just call them and get your daily text fix from different people?

Yes they are called back stabbing friends, you can bet that they also talk shit about you when you are not around. There is no point on calling them out either cause guys that do that are cowards and they will deny everything.

Ditch them, or if you have to work with them keep it simple, just say hi, no small talk, dont even pretend that you want to be friends with them, if you have to text them be professional and get straight to the point.

Do you work with me?

I specialize in combative email to get the job done. I hate HATE the obnoxious passive voice of emails. I commonly find women doing this, but men are just as guilty.

Just be combative back. Make sure your Ts and Is are correct.

I have found that there are some people that are just awful at texting and their texts end up coming out like they were written by a robot. This is mostly with older folks that can't type worth a shit on a keyboard and I know that text took them 5 minutes to write in the first place.

The passive aggressive ones, in my case, tend to be the ones who only bring up serious issues via text.

I have another approach; only text the people you dont like or hate dealing with. Texting is incredibly invasive and personal and I minimize it for work. There is someone I am dealing with now that I know when I text it completely ruins his moment, with whoever he is around. He used to text me at 5:30am almost every day, early Sunday morning and other bullshit like that. That is fine with me, bring it asshole

'Cause you can't punch people over the phone.

Sounds like a passive aggressive strategy to me. I'd rather tell him to stop texting me at odd hours. Unless it's for work and you're on-call 24/7.

I don't care so much as to why they do it...but it's this completely normal, even pleasant in person, yet every other text is meant to invoke argument. It's really dumb.

Those incongruencies happen with people who aren't keeping it 100%. In person they're on the spot and have to come up with quick responses, and unless they're good liars, the truth is the first thing that comes out. Via text, they sit and think about what they wanna say, take it through the filter a couple times, cut it, step on it, then serve you the 10% pure version.

Just tell them you'll talk about it when you see them in person.
