A common theme in scientific studies is the idea of a control and an experiment. The control and the experiment are to start in identical states at the beginning of a study. The control stays in this state, and the experiment changes its state to test a hypothesis. This method has been used for a long time, and seems to be very effective in evaluating scientific theories.
Imagine, for a moment, if we were actually able to apply this to game. Feminists, manginas, and the like love to espouse the idea that game doesn't work. They don't accept evolutionary psychology, nor do they accept that gender roles are a biological construct instead of a social one. If we were able to prove, using the scientific method that game not only works, but significantly alters a man's success with women, where would they retreat then?
There are two men, let's call them Billy and Jacob, who happen to be identical twins. So much so that even close friends and family members struggle to tell them apart. These men are moderately attractive by the typically accepted male definition of physical attractiveness. They are slightly tall, in good shape, with average faces. Neither is rich, neither is particularly poor. They are alike in almost every sense, physically and financially. However, there is a very large difference between them.
Billy is a risk taker. He also is very social and is fearless about approaching attractive women. Billy is what we on the RVF would call a natural. Jacob is more reserved, not exactly socially inept, but not as outgoing at Billy. Jacob rarely, if ever, approaches. Billy loves to tease girls, and is very aloof, even with girls who are 8+. Jacob typically turns any reasonably attractive girl into his girlfriend. These relationships do not typically last very long. Jacob is what we would refer to as a beta. He could be considered an upper beta, but he is still a beta. Jacob is our control, and Billy is our experiment. Billy claims to have a notch count over 60, Jacob has yet to reveal his, however based on his LTRs, it is estimated at under 15.
I've known Billy and Jacob for quite a long time. They are very good friends of mine. I remember knowing Jacob's pain, since I had felt it before. Once I took the red pill, I finally understood why Jacob's success was not as great as Billy's. That is, until one day, Jacob and I were at a bar in a different city. We were talking about trying to bring some girls back to the hotel to sleep with. I told Jacob I would do all the approaching, since he is usually uncomfortable with it. Jacob exact words were: "good, I'm not usually very good with approaching a set". Jacob and I have never discussed anything related to pickup or game. At that moment, I knew he had been studying game. I still have never talked to him about it, but I'm glad that he appears to be taking steps to improve his game.
The moral of the story is: controlling for looks, money, age, and just about any other dependent variable, game works. I know that isn't new to anybody on this board, but I think it's good to hear our beliefs validated in a very real way.
