Mobile Apps for Travel Hunting

In addition to another thread about the value of WhatsApp, I thought it may be useful to list some of the apps that I use when hunting while I am travelling. And get some ideas of others from any of you guys if I have missed any. Those apps are useful when you have a smartphone with one of the major operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows 8) and access to data. In EE, that is possible with widespread wifi but sometimes you will need to buy a local sim card with data capability.

WhatsApp - Free to message anyone (apart from the trivial initial cost of the app). Advantages include seeing profile photos (useful when you don't have FB, VK profile), online status and instant messaging capability including seeing when the girl is typing.

Mamba - One of the biggest dating sites in EE. Loads of profiles and great to see who is online and near you at any time.

Badoo - Also a huge dating EE site with great mobile capabilities including location search and expressing interest in profiles.

Foursquare - Really handy when you use the trending feature. On quieter nights in a strange city, it can alert you where there is a hive of activity almost in real time. Users tend to be younger and more technically fashionable. So in older, more refined places, this app won't be that useful. But for student party nights on a Sunday, it can be a goldmine! Also useful for day-gaming when shopping areas are full.

Those are the apps I use frequently while in EE. Any others?

LINE is a hugely popular messenger in Asia and it is not hard to come by a girl's LINE ID. It is one the most flexible of all the messaging software I've encountered. Viber is another messenger option of course. And YM remains popular ... why, I don't know. I haven't tested either but there are mobile apps like Locals by OKcupid and there is Blendr? as well. Maybe someone can report on either or both.

Can anyone break this down a bit? I've always wished for something that will let me know where the action is based on my GPS location. I never bothered with foursquare as I saw no real point to it other than letting people know what restaurants you go to. But if it has evolved into something else that will let you know where the action is in any given city, I'd find that very useful.
