I often find myself needing a bag that is neither a gym bag nor a briefcase/laptop case. Just something to carry a book, sweater, umbrella, bottle of water, whatever, that doesn't look like a man-purse. Any suggestions?

When you say a bag that doesn't look like a man purse, really pretty much any bag a guy carries aside from a backpack or large messenger bag looks like and essentially is a man purse.

I love bags, yeah I know kinda a girly thing to say but I do. Backpacks, man purses, athletic bags and slings, messenger bags, laptop bags, love them all.

I normally carry a backpack to work with me to keep my lunch, laptop, phones charges, headphones, all that good stuff. Sometimes however I like something a bit smaller so I also have some man purses and things like that.

I commented the other day in another thread about the UTG messenger bag. It's a bit tactical looking but a well organized pretty small bag, not really that girly, really kinda looks like a camera bag. Probably not the best bag for style if you tend to dress up you probably want something leather instead but it's a great bag. I especially like it that it has a concealed pocket that fits a velcrow holster for carrying a firearm. Not so girly when I have my Beretta 9mm in there right? lol.

Another bag I like more for athletic stuff or riding my motorcycle is more a bandolier than a bag. The Kangateck bandolier sling. Would look kinda cheesy wearing everyday around town but if your active either running, hiking, biking, riding motorcycles, etc it's a pretty cool piece of gear.

Lose your bear gut, build muscle and thick neck and you can rock pink sweaters and man-purses all day long and you will just look even more masculine.

BTW your frame is wrong. Instead of calling mans accesoires man-purses you should be calling womens accesoires women-satchels or something.

A man should wear what is useful and comfortable for him and not be afraid of being perceived as unmasculine or otherwise manipulated by opinions of fashion losers.

I just got a new pink sweater. I plan to wear it with little fairy wings. Is that beta?

Herschel makes some pretty good backpacks and bags that don't make you look like a middle schooler.

The "man-purse" dichotomy is an important consideration when talking about this issue. I think as a man if your concern is others' perception of your gear when all you need to do is carry some essential items, then that is a personal problem with yourself. It's not like you're carrying makeup and tampons.

Back in the day every man used those boxy hard briefcases. Now they're all but nonexistent. If the essential function is to carry a few things but you don't want to carry it on your back like a student and easy access is important (to not be blocked by a lot of loops and buckles and zippers), you could use a grocery bag.

I had the same need and found that a tote bag is efficient. I had a military flight bag lying around that has a main big empty compartment with a zipper closure and two side compartments with button closures and two handles to carry. I use it to carry that kind of stuff.

Tote bags are cheap, take all kinds of abuse, and you can throw all kinds of shit in there. Like a purse. Backpack is also like a purse, that you strap on your back, so somehow it's more manly. Ok. The man-purse putdown angle is perfunctory in my opinion. Do whatever the fuck you want to do with your life. The comparison is silly.
