Has anyone traveled London-Kiev-Moscow?
10-25-2013, 11:47 PM
I know it's a long shot but maybe, just maybe some has flown from London to Moscow via Kiev. I am trying to figure out a situation with docs and trying to stay longer. Is there passport control flying out of Luton airport (London)? How about Borispol airport in Kiev? Do you have to go through passport control or do you stay in transit zone?
I flew to Italy out of Luton before and no one asked anything on the way out,I wonder if it's the same of you fly to Ukraine. Pls PM me if you flew this route. I really need your help.

Isn't train way more expensive? The flight cost about 100 USD to Moscow. I was asking about passport control on the way out of Luton and if there is transit zone in Borispol airport or you need to go through passport control. I overstayed at some point of time in Ukraine and don't want to deal with them again.

It probably is, if you take a sleeper cabin (and most people would for a journey of that length). If you don't, it's probably not a significant difference. But you're right, you asked about flights and you deserve some help on that. Sadly, I haven't ever flown that route so I hope someone more knowledgeable can pop in.
Plus, if avoiding Ukraine border authorities is your primary goal, then a train would be pointless anyway, as it is guaranteed to go through them.

Train is more expensive and you will go through passport control.
There's no passport control between EU countries (UK excluded) but Ukraine is not part of the EU.

Depends. Borispol has several terminals spread out, but you can walk from one to the other. But well, if you have to change terminals, you'll obviously have to go through passport control.

No passport control when leaving the UK (just like leaving the US).
In Kiev, it depends on if you need to transfer terminals, but if you're a US citizen, you don't need a visa anyway so it's just a matter of the timing to get between terminals.
