A formal investigation is looking into whether a high school football team was bullying when it beat another team, 91-0.

Aledo High School football coach Tim Buchanan says he did everything he could think of Friday night against Western Hills, but it was clear the game was going to be a shutout.

He pulled his starters in the first quarter, put his second string players in, then his third stringers.

In the third quarter, they started a running clock that doesn't stop unless there's a timeout or a score. In the fourth quarter, they went to a continuous running clock. The final score was 91-0.

Quote:Quote:

after the game, Buchanan was told a parent from Western hills filed a bullying report on him.

He says the parent said Aledo's players showed good sportsmanship, but that Buchanan had bullied his players to bully the other team, and run up the score.

Quote:Quote:

The Western Hills HS and Aledo HS football teams were named as victims and the alleged offenders listed as the Aledo HS football coaches.

When asked to describe what happened, the parent wrote "Unsportsmanlike conduct from 7:30 - 10:00."

The report asks if there were any witnesses and if they could be named for follow-up. The parent said "everyone in the football stadium" was a witness
.

Quote:Quote:

"I'm not gonna tell a kid that comes out here and practices six to seven hours a week trying to get ready for football games," Buchanan said, "'Hey, you can't score a touchdown if you get in, you're gonna have to take a knee,' cause that may be the only touchdown that kid gets to score in his high school career."

It's also disrespectful to your opponents to make displays of arrogance (i.e. not trying). Taking a knee would be worse than scoring as it shows your opponents that you don't even have to try. Ten bucks says the parent was a mother. Actually, I don't have to bet, Sean Salisbury confirms it in the video.

Edit to add a story: I remember 20 years ago I was playing 10 year old traveling baseball. We got stomped by Vernon 35-5. Nobody complained to the other team. In fact, we were told we played like girls by our coaches. The next game we came out like a house on fire and beat our next opponent 8-3 (funny how you remember the bad losses, but not necessarily the win). The coach said that we finally played like men. Sad to think that if that happened today, the coach would immediately be fired.

I can just about guarantee you it was a single mother who filed the complaint.

Wow seriously? That's not bullying. That's competitive sports. Practice, get better, and win next time!

If anybody is to blame, it's the athletic director of the losing school for scheduling a game against a powerhouse school.

They should be thankful they even got to play a powerhouse school, because in my area the AD's of the better programs won't even return the phone calls of the crappy ones.

So now if you are better than the opposition you have to take it easy on them in order not upset the mothers and bruise the artificially overblown egos of lil Johnny or lill Jane ? Wow where is this madness going to end? Wouldn't be surprised if within a few years they make it against the rules to win a game in any sport by more than 3 goals!!!!

If you can't even get one score during garbage time during a blowup your should suspend the teams operations. Such a mismatch shouldn't of even taken place but all is fair in he world of competition. I agree taking a knee prior to a touchdown is more insulting as it shows no respect at all to your competition.

The whole anti-bullying crusade makes me angry.

If boys can't handle being bullied, they won't be able to deal with being rejected by women either.

If you coddle them and protect them from being bullied, they'll never develop the ability to roll with the punches necessary to picking up girls and keeping them interested.

The law of unintended consequences at work - the anti-bullying movement will leave tons of guys involuntary celibates or divorce-raped men on suicide watch.

Not to say bullying can't go too far - but that's what parents are for. That's when dad should teach his son how to handle himself. Instead we've made bullying a major social issue like homophobia.

This story is just the next step from the introduction of participation trophies 10 years ago. Soon school sports wont have winning teams or players because it means someone else was the loser and that loser might have their feelings hurt.

I remember my high school Scottish soccer coach after a big game we lost:

"You guys played like a bunch of faggot primadonnas"

Imagine the crying that would ensue if the wrong kid heard that today.

Therapsid = Truth

The anti-bullying movement is a crusade that is cranking into high gear. The Sparks, Nevada, shooting the other day is "another case of bullying" and adds more fuel to the fire.

I have sat through mandatory diversity training where we had some retarded "nurse" come in and spend a whole hour talking about bullying in the workplace. The bottom line is that anything and everything can and will be used against a manager for a bullying complaint. Sigh, cross your arms, make a face, eat in a meeting, check your phone in a meeting, don't answer e-mails, blah blah blah = workplace bullying. The sexual harassment bullshit must have died off enough for lawyers, Fembots LGBT and other activists to create some new bullshit.

The schools are at the tip of the spear. I hear the anti-bullying NEA commercials on radio all day long. Our school district even had a three hour workshop that involved school management, teachers and the police.

They are hyper-sensitive to this bullshit and will use it as a weapon. Example: I am working on a project that could potentially relocate a freight railroad track closer to a school. The President of the School Board, who lives right down the street from me (the fucking mangina), said that my agency was "bullying the School District" because we had the audacity to come up with the concept and not immediate take it off the table (bend over to their wishes).

This is where this shit is leading us: more shredding of First Amendment rights. I have the right to say something, even if you do not agree with it (and yes, I get the crowded theater crap - this doesn't apply). This bullying crusade will be a weapon used against those who disagree with the status quo or mainstream group-think. Get ready for it....

I am sure, however, that the door will swing both ways and we could torch some Feminist and white knight bullies, right? (Sarcasm off)

I saw the whole segment on ESPN and I don't know if this was mentioned, but the ESPN announcer said that in the state of Connecticut, a coach can be suspended for a game if they beat another team by 50+ points.

Seriously?

THIS SHIT IS HAPPENING IN TEXAS? Oh hell no. *insert oh hell no gif*

I can't understand why parents would act like this if they know how the game is played. Not to mention this is a 4AII school, they would get beasted by a 5AI school....it's comparing WestPac vs SEC.

They better start training their players, make them do supermans and make them run when its 110F degrees in July!

I met Sean Salisbury about 10 years ago. Very friendly guy. He was out at a club with a few other NFL players after some award ceremony. He used to do a funny segment with John Clayton where they would bust each other's balls talking about the NFL. I told him I enjoyed.

Anyway, he had a woman point her finger at him and he lost his job at ESPN due to it. I believe it was sexual harassment. Maybe it happened, maybe it didn't, but another possible red pill male who is sick of seeing women ruin shit that gladly turned the term "parent" into the more accurate term "mom".

While this is obviously not bullying and this (probably single) mother is insane to file a complaint, can't the team that is losing 20-0 or something just surrender, shake the opponents' hands and go out for a beer? It would save time and nerves for everyone. If that can be done in Starcraft, Chess and MMA, I don't see why it can't be done here.

Great news! October is "National Bullying Prevention Month".

To raise "awareness of bullying prevention",

Quote:Quote:

Numerous schools this month will foster flash mobs, dramas, dance routines, and cafeteria-centered videos

Sure sounds like fun.

No wonder they have to keep these kids drugged to the gills on Ritalin.

The first problem is it currently takes a quorum of one person to file this complaint.

Not a group of ten. Not five. All motions in Roberts Rules of Order require a Second to be considered, but not here. All it takes is one single crank to waste everyone's time with this kind of nonsense. And they don't even have to do it in person, they can weasel report it through the web. It's the top link on the school's web site:
http://www.aledo.schoolfusion.us/

...and because of the no-retaliation-for-reporting rules, the dickhead dad gets to stay anonymous.

Secondly, there's a "mercy rule" in Texas that 6 vs 6 football games end when one team is ahead by 45 points at halftime or later. But not for 11 player team games.

What happens if you end the game early? Remember, there's a contract between the schools that splits the admission sales of the game. If one team just walks off the field without playing to completion, they forfeit their split of the money. So you play to the end. Or you don't get paid.

Aledo High pulled their starters, they even put their third string players on the field. But even then the game was a blow out. Because Western Hills doesn't support its football program. Instead, most of the 5,000 tickets that night sold were because of the marching band's performance. After halftime (coupled with a cold rain), less than 1,500 people remained to bother seeing the football game being played, probably mostly from Aledo High.

If Western Hills doesn't want to play football, they don't have to. They're free to cancel all games for the future and leave their stadium to rust. But they like the revenue from the games too much --those 5,000 tickets sold for just one night's game add up fast, game after game.

So they want the money. But they don't want to actually train a team, encourage players, or play games they might lose.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

Disgusting how coddled youngsters are nowadays in America. Participation does not equal achievement. This faulty line of thinking goes hand-in-hand with the anti-self improvement culture there.

When I was in school, receiving a participation ribbon literally felt worse than getting nothing at all. It's like saying "we know you're not good enough to win an actual ribbon, so here, take this." How about fuck you, the only ribbons I want are the blue ones with the writing "1st place" on them
