I'm a fan.

I like some of his ideas, but the reason people like him..

Charisma.

It's the same reason why you get laid.

Notice how he doesn't laugh at stuff that everyone else thinks is funny. He operates from his own frame.

The guy is very smart and articulate.

You religious players got to chill out and not be so knee-jerk angry. He says a lot of stuff that proves that even if it were possible for there to be a god, he wouldn't be an intelligent designer.

This guy provides very good perspective on where we stand in relation to the rest of the known universe.

Why is perspective important?

For all you guys who get approach anxiety, you should know that your perspective and interpretation is off. If you look at the numbers, having your approach rejected by a woman is one of the most insignificant events that could possibly happen.

Absolutely agree with this. I love reading about subatomic particles, structure of the universe and natural phenomena, yet I am always quick to add "sadly, I have little aptitude for advanced math and those complicated formulae usually scare me". Yet most people, including those who knows far less about those fields than I do, have no problem going around droning how much they love science and how smart it makes them. Not to mention that they don't know a lot in general - even people who actually have some specialized science knowledge are often "cognitive misers" in other areas in life, unable to use logic or know even the most basic facts. For example, I've recently had a biology graduate tell me proudly that she had no idea what or where the Panama Canal was and that such facts were irrelevant.

One thing that everyone in here should take note of is that all of these guys- Dawkins, Tyson, Dennett, Hitchens- Alpha.

They are all top dogs with a lot of charisma and confident body language.

Tyson is also a politician for science.. he's constantly trying to promote the importance of the space program. That's probably got something do to with how he makes science for and digestible for the masses.

Anyway, I've yet to hear a some on the religious side say anything that says anything that's as interesting or makes sense as what Tyson says.

Just because hipsters like him doesn't mean he sucks.

Do hipsters breathe air? Oh, no.. don't breathe because hipsters do it.

I don't think it's hipsters that are into him, more like SWPLs. Hipsters don't care about anything but riding their fixed gear bikes, being ironic, drinking beer and listening to indie-rock. I've never heard any of them going on about science.

Location of the Panama Canal? Inbetween her thighs. tell her to look there. or better yet, show it to her....
