Any of you amigos have suggestions for good books to read during travels or to motivate travels? Currently reading Desolation Angels by Kerouac, and I would recommend it - t[/i]hough he is one of the obvious writers to seek upon for this type of lit.

I've heard Jupiter's Travels is pretty good. I still haven't read it but it's on my list.

There's also the teacher on two wheels blog about a teacher who rode from New York to Argentina on his bicycle, then flew it to South Africa and rode all the way up through Africa. http://teacherontwowheels.com/ He's a really nice dude and I'd emailed him earlier this year and he mentioned that he might be going to the Himalayas soon.

Then of course there's Craig Heimberger's blog travelvice.com. I think he's finished traveling, but he was out there non-stop for like 4 years.

...oh wait you were asking for books, nevermind.

Hey, I think you have some good recommendations in the thread below. Most of them are fiction, but due to this forum's bias toward exotic destinations, it overlaps what you're seeking.

From my last recommendations, I'd just want to scratch out Tucker Max and put Che Guevara's 'motorcycle diary'. Hemingway's got some travel-related novels as well- the best one is 'The sun also rises'.
