I read this article today on Kim Jong Un, the new North Korean leader. Seems he found out that one of his ex-GFs made a sex tape with some other people. His response?
He had her and the other participants shot by firing squad. Families of the condemned were forced to watch, and they themselves were shipped off to concentration camps.

I can't take seriously any reports about North Korea. It's all too opaque to know for sure what's going on. The South Korean press has every incentive to sensationalize whatever goes on in their northern neighbor.

I suspect it's true. Of course there's no way to tell for sure but North Korea is an unbelievable cesspool of cruelty and brutality. I've seen a number of documentaries on the country and visited the DMZ in the mid 1990s. It was the most tense and bizarre tour you'll ever take.
The best documentary I've seen on the DPRK is (believe it or not) the Vice Guide to North Korea. Some first-rate reporting. Check it out, it's in 3 parts:

This is also excellent. It is a documentary about north korea by i think bbc. It was originally on youtube,but got yanked, it is on a mirror site. Seriously, it is a must watch to get some sort of idea of just how bad it is in north korea.

(you can't visit north korea without a handler- NK will only let you see certain parts of their country). I am a little concerned that once the documentary finally aired, that all of the handlers were sent to the labor camps because NK looks so bad in the vids.

Always keep in mind that North Korea is one of the few nations on Earth which tabloid journalists can write about without having to carry out any interviews or serious fact-checking, as there is no possibility of libel action.

When you see how skewed the Vice report on RoK/FatShamingWeek was, it's hard to take the rest of its hyperbolic output seriously.
