Kanye West rages on twitter at Jimmy Kimmel

After Jimmy Kimmel did a bit making fun of an interview Kanye did with the BBC:

Kanye went off on him on twitter (read from the bottom up):

Then Slate defended kanye here:
Quote:Quote:

Kimmel begins by relating how “he [Kanye] said he’s the No. 1 rock star on the planet, whatever planet he’s on.” ... If Kimmel finds this funny, it’s only out of ignorance. Rap is the new rock and roll—or rather, it’s considerably bigger and more influential now than rock is. And so rappers are the new rock stars...

The slate article seems to be a pretty good defense but even so, Kanye comes across as childish. He does a lot of good work that I enjoy, but he can't simply be successful. He throws a fit if anyone doesn't recognize his success and pay proper obeisance.

Excellent samples of shame language implemented by women except Kimmel's dick size.

"I have refused to wear a condom all of my life, for a simple reason – if I’m going to masturbate into a balloon why would I need a woman?"

Of course, right on cue:

Quote:Quote:

"Kimmel was trying to be funny, but he isn't black and doesn't have a history of being infantilized or talked down to in the same way that black men have," says Nsenga Burton, founder of the African Diaspora blog The Burton Wire. "He's just thinking about the joke, the punchline. He's not thinking about what black artists, or black people in general, have dealt with for as long as we can remember.

Quote:Quote:

History is rife with examples of a privileged class depicting minorities as childlike, or barely civilized, or, literally, children. For black Americans, or for people of color in general, that tendency has manifested in many ways — calling black servants "boy," for example, or depicting a country with a majority non-white population as a little kid.

This is Jimmy Freaking Kimmel. He is making fun of Kanye because he is Kanye not because he is black.

It's just crazy to me.

The entire world could crack any joke at me they wanted at anytime, say that I eat a bag full of used diapers and dog shit every day, call me a pantyhose wearing faggot, mock my entire family, lineage, blood type, skin color, bone structure, put my face on TV and on youtube ridiculing me nonstop...

...and I would be ecstatic. Why? Because every day I'd wake up in Kanye's house, with Kanye's groupies in my bed, eating Kanye's breakfast, wearing Kanye's clothes and driving his cars. There could be a picture of me up in Times Square for all the world to laugh at and I wouldn't give two shits if I had his life.

Dude is a pussy.

Kanye West cares more about the public's perceptions of his success than the trappings of success themselves. Dude's an insecure, narcissistic tool, albeit a talented and very successful one.

All celebrities are prima donnas.

They're like women, as soon as they don't get their way, the throw tantrums so that others will scurry around and "make it better".

It makes them feel special.

It doesn't matter that he's black. He just reacts the way an adult black man that's emotionally a child would.

Jimmy also pissed off Matt Damon one time. Damon stormed off the set throwing a tantrum like a little bitch.

They are but this was an innocuous joke and he made a big deal out of it. Kimmel, Leno, and all these other late night TV show hosts troll celebs but rarely do you see them go ape shit over it like this. In fact, most of them are good sports about it.

I am pretty sure that Kimmel-Damon thing was a gag and still is. They pretend to hate each other and Kimmel will make fun of him as much as possible. Kimmel did some "Good Looking Guys Club" gag and Damon was the one to throw him out.

The fact that Kanye went apeshit over it on TWITTER IN ALL CAPS shows that the guy can't take a joke. He doesn't understand that the more you act like that the more others get a kick out of making fun of you. Agree and amplify should be the one of the basic mottos of life.

Look at someone like Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA. He gets ripped on the most by everyone and he laughs the loudest. Kanye would do well to learn from Sir Charles.

You're friends with someone to the point where you're attending their family functions. You do a radio interview where you're talking about things that are serious to you, your passions, your beliefs. Then your friend goes on TV and mocks basically your entire belief system as childish.

Yeah, I don't see how anyone would be upset by that.

I can say I wouldn't react like Kanye did but I'm not him and none of us can really know how it feels to be in that situation. I just think it's funny that people only look at the other side of the coin in these stories.

Sure, you rag on your buddies but do you trash their entire existence. Do you misrepresent them in from of a TV audience? Of course Jimmy Kimmel and his audience don't know shit about European designers and fashion. It was an hour long interview with a European news network and they choose that particular excerpt.

I also found it funny that they tried to portray it as some lunatic ranting while Zane Lowe sits on in disinterest when in actuality he was thrilled to be speaking with Kanye and is a huge fan. He was pushing him to talk about these things.

Kanye has poured out his whole life on wax, including some very personal stuff, and has had much of it watched by the world. Then you have everyone calling him the worst shit they can think of.

He's a faggot for reacting but it's cool when these comedians smile in your face and take advantage of you, then get on stage and say the most foul shit possible. That's not bitch made? This is the same as Jay Leno being a close personal friend of Michael Jackson and even testifying in his defense yet he would get on TV every week and call him a child molester. 'Yeah, I called you a freak but we're still friends, right?'

I'm not trying to defend Kanye here, it's just funny that people will trash him for reacting but Jimmy Kimmel gets a free pass. People say whatever they want about celebrities but if they do anything but smile everyone jumps on them. They're just zoo animals that should lay there while you throw rocks at them.

It's not fair for Kanye to talk about Kimmel being a beta and having a masculine girlfriend, for some reason.

Wow, Kimmel is a comedian, he does this for a living. And when any famous actor or musician gives a really bad interview, the comedians will be all over it.

That said I am skeptical that any of this is even for real and it could just be another PR stunt to get attention.

Kanye makes some good music (not a fan of his newest album) but his personal sensitivity and inability to take a joke is pretty feminine of him. He needs to chill out. He almost seems drugged out.

Charles Barkley is one of the first people to call racism. You think if he was talking about a serious subject regarding that and Ernie says "what do you know, you're an alcoholic", Chuck wouldn't wild out?

Come on. You're comparing making fun of Barkley's weight to calling him a child for talking about racism. Also, Charles was extremely arrogant during his playing days and would even shit on his teammates regularly in the media.

Not the best example for this situation.

@Enigma: I wasn't aware that Kanye and Kimmel were tight friends. Family functions in Hollywood don't mean shit when they all know each other, especially the more famous ones.

He didn't mock his entire belief system. He mocked the part about leather jogging pants and him being the world's most famous rockstar. It's a joke. If he is the world's biggest rockstar as he claims to be then he should know that all comedians make fun of rockstars all the time for being junkies, sex addicts, and dumbasses.

Kanye would have been better off agreeing and amplifying or keeping his mouth shut. TYPING ON TWITTER IN ALL CAPS JUST MAKES HIM LOOK MORE STUPID. NO THEY ARE NOT IN GRADE 5 ANYMORE AND KANYE ISN'T SPECIAL. THESE LATE NIGHT SHOW HOSTS SURVIVE ON MAKING FUN OF OTHER CELEBRITIES. THAT'S THEIR BREAD AND BUTTER.

Actually Barkley is one of the last people to call racism. When everybody was shitting on the Zimmerman verdict crying racism, he said he didn't think the verdict was racist.

You really think making fun of Kanye for this had racial overtones? If you do, then that's extremely absurd.

Barkley was an arrogant player and if you watch Inside the NBA they make fun of everything. Every single thing about Barkley is on the table not just his weight.

Edit: Kimmel made fun of Kanye for calling himself the most famous rockstar, meaning he went after his talent. On Inside the NBA everyone constantly makes fun of Barkley for being ringless and you don't see him lose his shit.

No, I agree that Kanye handled it wrong. He is definitetly overly sensitive about certain things but he is one of the most known and most hate celebrities around. I can see how that would weigh on you after a while, deserved or not. He didn't really start acting like this until his mother died.

The part about the leather jogging pants was Kanye talking about racism and citing European designers rejecting his ideas and later stealing them for themselves. Like I said, of course leather jogging pants is going to sound silly to an American audience. Most European fashion would.

The interview is an hour long and it leads up to moments where Kanye is speaking very passionately about things he believes in. The interviewer is extremely active in the conversation.

That's what Kanye is mad about. I doubt he cares about the "#1 rockstar from what planet remark". Agree or not, I don't think most people would be happy if someone they knew portrayed them as a child for speaking about things they were adamant about.

Charles talks about racism fairly often. I think he is fair about it and he's also a vocal Republican but he does bring it up. I doubt he would take it well if one of the guys tried to clown him while he was talking about it.

No, I don't think this was racist but I do think it was in poor taste to mock someone who is describing racism and write them off as a child.

1. Have you actually watched the interview in its entirety?

2. I never agreed that it was racism. I'm simply clarifying what the conversastion was about. They took something that Americans wouldn't understand to make him appear crazy when he was just using it as an example of something while talking with a European interviewer. He believes the fact that they refuse to work with him but will accept the same design from a white person constitutes racism. The designer house themselves doesn't necessarily "steal" the idea.

Man, to be honest I don't really care about Kanye or Kimmel. To me it's one rich asshole getting mad at another rick comedian for making a joke about him. Kimmel didn't make fun of the racism discussion by Kanye. He specifically targeted the leather jogging pants and world's #1 rockstar comment. That's it. Looking for racial overtones and connotations is realllllly reaching low in this case.

Plus, what's the saying? "Never engage a comedian or something. You will always lose." All Kanye's bitching did is give Kimmel more material and he did the piano gag the next day making fun of Kanye's tweets.

I disagree about it being in poor taste when he makes fun of jogging in leather pants.

I will say this about Barkley, I watch a lot of him on Inside the NBA and Open Court. Talking about racism vs. crying racism are two different things. Barkley often talks about racism but he also says the onus is on black communities to take action and solve their own problems. He hates the I only want to be a singer/athlete phenomenon in inner cities.

Look I am not gonna derail this thread since it was about a joke. Let's keep it about that.

I can't stand to listen to Kanye talking about himself. So no, I won't listen to the interview. Even so, he can say it was racism, but it doesn't mean it was.

Maybe they refused to work with him because he was Kanye and didn't want to deal with his ego or the publicity that surrounds him. I wouldn't want to work with the guy.

It would be easier for him to believe it was racism and not him. I doubt his ego could take it.

@Enigma: All this talk about Kanye was talking about racism in his interview is quite pointless. Kimmel only targeted the leather jogging pants specifically because as you said it, it is a funny concept for his North American audience.

Kimmel didn't say, "Oh, look. He is crying about racism in Europe as a designer. Boohoo!" All he said was look at this: Kanye designed leather jogging pants people. LEATHER JOGGING PANTS.

@Slayer:

The leather jogging pants discussion and the racism discussion are one in the same. The interview is about many things but in that moment he is speaking specifically on racism. They just cut the rest of it out so it appears to not make sense out of context.

I don't think Charles "cries" racism. I'm just point out that if he were talking about a serious subject like that, his coworkers wouldn't rag on him in that particular moment whether they agreed with him or not.

EDIT: So, if I just target one element of a serious discussion to make fun of I'm not actually making fun of that discussion? I honestly don't see how you think that makes sense.

I didn't even see this bit where Kimmel read all the tweets by Kanye himself. I had just seen the bit about a fake singer singing Kanye's tweets. Check it, pretty funny:

@Enigma: Let's just agree to disagree then, my friend. I don't see how making fun of leather jogging pants is bad or undermines Kanye somehow. To me it was a funny bit. Enjoy it for what it is.

PS. He takes a shot at Kim in that clip. Is Kanye gonna get mad about that too? It would be funny if he did.
