Colombia (Santa Marta) To Puerto Rico. Boat?

Hey all,

So I'm currently residing in Bogotá, but I'm trying to head back to NY for xmas/New Years.

One way tickets between BOG and NYC can run around $350, but from San Juan, Puerto Rico one-way tickets can be had for $150.

So why the hell not get to know Puerto Rico along the way?

Anyone have any experience travelling between Colombia and PR? I'd assume Santa Marta or Baranquilla would be the jumpoff point. I'd love if I could take a boat if such a thing is available. Any data on this?

Boats are widely available from Cartagena to Panama City but cost around $350-$500 for the trip. I really don't think you will find boats any cheaper than that. You could also look into doing a cruise.
