Situation :

Overview :

Aix en Provence is one of the main student town in France. It's also a very touristic place. The population is 143 000 and there are 40 000 students with a female majority. There is around 1 000 000 visitors each year.
It's the sunniest town in France with 300 days of sunshine. There is relatively low unemployment and high quality of life. It's in the center of the second most visited region in France. That's why it's the most expensive town to rent a flat in France outside Paris.

Accessibility

The city is between Paris Roma and Barcelona.
The fast train takes three hours to go to Paris and can be bought for 25. Thanks to Marseille international airport, there are cheap flights (20€) to many european places like Croatia, Warsaw, Crete.
Also the city is in the middle of provence, close to beautiful towns like Nice, Avignon or Marseille.

Quality of food and drinks

There is a huge choice of restaurants so you can find something good for 15€. There is also a cheap vegetable buffet for 5€. A beer(25cl) costs around 3€ and there is a bar with 1€ wine. Wine is cheaper than beer as its one of the main producing region of rosé.

Quality of women

As the city attracts lots of students from France and all over Europe, you have a lot of choice. There is a swedish school with the prettiest girls in town. Also there is a big amount of american easy students. Most come to study french as an excuse to party in a nice place.
I would say the average girl is 7/10.

Ease of banging from day game

Every year new girls come to study here. So there is plenty of lonely girls wandering in town, especially during the beginning of the year. I met many girls reading a book in a park or at university.
Social science university is a great place as the girl ratio is very good and girls are open minded.
I would rate the ease of bang at 6/10.

Ease of banging from night game

There are some girls looking for one night stands but you have to approach a lot before finding one or screening well.
There are few nightclubs in the center but some nights are very good for picking up girls, especially on thirsday as all students go out.
Money is not very important but it is better to dress well.

7/10

Quality of long term living

You have to earn good money if you want to rent a big flat in the center (600€ min. for 1 bedroom flat). The city is beautiful with lots of fountain and medieval buildings but the region itself is worth living there. The landscape are very diverse with forest, mountain, beaches at less than 1 hour drive.

Conclusion

Aix en Provence has some of the best girls in France. It has lots of easy girls but it is better to aim at foreign students. Locals are sometimes snobby because there are lots of rich families. Anyway, the city and the region are worth visiting for tourism and for girls.

If you had a choice would you chose to visit Lyons or this city, which would you choice?

Seems like Lyon is a bit more expensive

Great sheet!

France is my favorite place in the world. Women are close to the last thing on my mind when I visit and I really don't care. The food, wine, natural landscape, and culture are all world class. Paris is fantastic, but make sure you get out of Paris.

CT: Lyon is the center of French cooking. I'd go with a decent bankroll to eat and drink. Everyone should make a trip to Lyon at one point to sample the cuisine.

Excellent. I asked a French friend about this once and I seem to recall that he recommended either Nîmes or Aix-en-Provence as having the best-looking women.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Excellent data sheet that matches with my experience. Went there for the last night before flying out of Marseille the next morning.
Indeed I met a group of 5 American exchange students who just arrived with zero French laguage skills that wanted me to help them to get into a club. Of course I am always there to help young ladies...
Ended hooking up with one of them (overall a 6 but probably the most noticable set of tits I ever had in my hands). She took me to her apartment where we went for it a couple times... and me being the drunken, horny student that I was at that time falling asleep in her bed and missing my flight out the next morning. It cost me some Euros to change my flights, but the tits were well worth it...

Aix is indeed a very nice little place. Another major university town in the South is Montpellier. Tons of uni students from all over the world, great weather as it's about an hour from Marseille, good hub airport wise and a cultural centre. Not to mention food is divine there.

Other great uni towns in France I can think of right off the top of my head:

Nantes
Rennes
Toulouse
Bordeaux
Dijon
Nancy
Strasbourg
Lille

Once I get more time, I'll do a little write up about each of these cities. But each one of them is a tremendous place to start and post up for a few months.

In my opinion Toulouse trumps all the cities quote above (Montpellier included) as an uni town even just as a town.

It is bigger which means better common transport, more things to do but still with cheap cost of life due to the city being very young and student.

France doesnt seem to get enough love on this forum. Its a beautiful country with a rich culture. The women aren't the prettiest on average but they are very feminine/sensual. My dream would be to be to have a nice little flat somewhere in the south of France someday.

France is good for inviting Russian chicks to as well, yes?

Just looked at Orbitz-- round trip Moscow->Marseilles for a week in November is only $354

Russian and I think all EE chicks love Paris and the French Riviera, but getting them a visa if they're not from an EU country can take a bit of work. One Ukraine girl working in the travel industry told me that she recently visited Paris and for Ukrainians to get a visa to visit France, they have to have already been approved for a Schengen visa to visit another country first.

Otherwise, I agree that France gets very little attention here. I think it's because people see it as expensive and as having a language barrier. But the most exclusive clubs in Paris are filled with models from around the world and they can give even Kiev a run for the money as far as beauty goes. Getting into those places is not a given and you're generally looking at 18-25 euros for a cocktail.

The language barrier can be significant too. A lot of French girls can speak conversational English, but as one French girl I went out with once told me, "I'm glad you can speak French, because I like to talk and I can only express myself well in French". Once you can speak French, if your game is tight you can do very well indeed.

French girls can be very open and direct. One New Year's Eve in Germany at around 5AM I started talking to a drunk french guy who was pretty much giving up on hitting on a solid French girl from Lille. So after awhile just me and him were talking and ignoring her so she said "I'm french, i smoke, I drink and I fuck" (it rhymes in French). Both of our eyes lit up and the French guy went into overdrive and walked out of there with her 30min later.

There was one period awhile back when I was in Aix en Provence several times over two years. It's known as a bourgeois town, which means it's quite a bit wealthier than average, in some ways it's a wealthy suburb of Marseilles, so you're looking at students and well-to-do French girls (who often won't respond well to standard game). I've heard that Montpellier and Nantes are the good university towns to roll in. Lille and Strasbourg are also interesting, especially Strasbourg with a cross between the German and the French mentality. I never really thought about it in that way, but in retrospect Strasbourg could be the easiest place to find ONS in France. it's full of students along with Alsacians (the region there is called the Alsace) and i've always thought that they combine the best of the French and German mentalities.

It depends which month and if you have or not a car.

In Toulouse, you are close to the sea as to the mountains and Spain as well.

During summer, everybody goes near the beaches. During winter holidays, they go to the countryside, mountains, skiing. Note that, as a student town, you have less opportunities during holidays because a lot of students come from different areas and go back home.

If you have a car, the time and money (accommodations), you have a lot of things to do and cities to hit around (<200 km). But only in Toulouse, it could be a little bit boring, especially if you don't know anybody.

My bet will be months of april-may.

About Nantes, I know a little, my Dad has been living here for the last 10 years.
There are a lot of students, the city is very nice, plenty of bars, easy-going.
The weather can be bad as you are near the Ocean, i.e. rain and wind during fall and winter.
The thing is, when it's getting sunny and hot, everybody reaches the beach near by, very close by car. Mostly the city of La Baule. You have casinos, the largest bay of Europe, hotels and so on. It's quite posh when it comes the night activities, but during the day on the beach you can deal with hundred of students from Nantes.

Best months are may-june.

July and August are full of tourists, mostly wealthy families and some foreigners. Others months, it's a dead city, thousand of inhabitants, nothing to do and depressing.

Aix is now officialy the city with the slimmest girls in france. It has the lowest overweight rate. Its because its one of the wealthiest cities in france and also mediterranean food is very healthy. There is no macdonalds in the central aix.

Montpellier is a little bigger and cheaper but i would pick aix for the higher international student rate. But its better not to come during vacations.
There is one hostel for 20€ in each city but they are shitty. Otherwise i think you can find a room for 30€ on airbnb.
