An Education is critical to your success

Ok, guys, before you go seeking help from someone the very least you should do is educate yourself. If you have not taken the time to read a good amount of the information on here, if you haven't taken the time to read any books, then you are simply uneducated and you deserve the results you are getting. I personally read about two pickup/game related books per month plus I read a lot of the threads on here. I also subscribe to a bunch of other sites and feeds. In all I spend at least 8 hrs per week just reading stuff.
A mentor can help you but you also need to help yourself and you do that first by educating yourself.

I agree that reading is fun/entertaining but what about actually doing things? Like learn by doing, I know this has probably been discussed before but do you think your education should be more action based rather than theory? I mean ideally combine the two but it's easy to get sucked in to just reading game stuff rather than acting. I know I've struggled with that and continue to do so.

The education/reading/knowledge is the foundation upon which you will then act. Practicing is critical but you have to first know what to do. There is no point in going out there without a plan of action and an objective. Reading will also tell you what has worked for others and what has not. This will prevent you from making the same mistakes and speed up the real-world learning process.

Are you talking about PUA, or genuine education and self-improvement? What about reading great literature or math books? What about learning to cook, or teach, or write, or sing?
Maybe you should provide a list of other sites and feeds and explain how they help. Otherwise you are just encouraging people to surf the net and become keyboard jockeys.

I am talking about pickup/game education. That's what this forum is about AND learning how to interact with women is one of the biggest self-improvement and empowerment you can learn in your life. Of course, a general education is also highly recommended. That's what our school system is there for. Get one. The information on this site alone is enough for most guys.

I'm just a newb but I've been devouring all information on game and red pill information I can find for the past month or so. I am big into self-education and love reading anything that I find beneficial, but I do hate wasting my time on things that end up having no benefit towards improving myself. Could anyone recommend specific feeds that I should be following? I've found a few reading lists on this forum and other sites that have been very helpful and am currently working my way through Roosh's most important books list. I follow roosh's blog, rok, and heartiste, among others I've found through google. What other feeds or blogs have been influential in the manosphere or anyone's development? I appreciate any feedback that can be given and look forward to becoming a part of this community.

You really should not follow so much as you should act. My time in Ecuador taught me that there's no teacher like straight-up experience. I did not have much access to internet while I was in Ecuador, so I had to improvise and act based on what I already knew.
Needless to say, mistakes were made...however, these mistakes are memorable (and thus more useful) for me because I have internalized so much more. I remember the look on the girls face when I said something idiotic; on the other hand, I remember exactly how my head, arms, and shoulders were positioned when I said something that I KNEW made the girl's pussy wet. No amount of reading would have given me an equal amount of utility.
All in all, it's good to do some reading, but getting out there and doing stuff is way more important.

What you want to do is read then practice, read then practice. So if you read about approaching women then go out there and put it into practice. This is the best way to learn. Don't wait until you finish the whole book. Read a chapter and go out there and practice what it suggest. Bang is a good starting point.
I don't mean I read the whole book in a month. What I meant in any given month I am reading about two, sometimes it's one. This is true, I know a lot of men that dedicate the same amount of time and energy I do to women to video games, football, golf, hunting, fishing, you name it. My hobby IS women, most other men have a different hobby. The amount of time and energy you devote to your hobby will equal how good you become at it - period.

Nomad, what is a good book on how to read IOI's? I read "Whateverybody is saying" a couple of months ago, but it was not specifically written for game.

Tough one, don't know of any that is specifically written about that. But IOI's are pretty easy, you just need to go out there and start interacting with girls. A girl will only do a couple of things:
1. Does she move closer to you?
2. Does she touch you in any way?
3. Does she maintain eye contact?
4. Does she blush?
5. Does she get nervous around you?
6. Does she play with her hair or fix her makeup?
7. Does she ask you out in any way? (Always say yes the first time she does.)
8. Does she return your phone calls or text quickly?
9. Does she compliment you in any way?
10. If she's with you, there's a good chance she likes you. Otherwise, she would just leave.
