Ah yes, the link is here: http://www.gilt.com/brand/gordon-rush-it...in=s_brand

Yeah, the mixed media + brogue is the right amount of flashy/rakish. The shoes I posted would be great with a light tan/blue motif: Khakis, navy belt, royal blue v-neck, and tan leather jacket would be what I'd match with the shoes.

As a general statement (any company can call its color whatever marketing term it wants), it looks an awfully lot like "Brick"

One company's color chart: Note: The polish in the jars below never looks exactly like it will when actually applied to a shoe

Seeking an opinion - think the logo is annoying on this shoe?

It links to nordstrom rack - noting bad. Thanks.

It's a nice summer shoe but I would prefer it without the logo.

The logo would stop me from wearing them with Lacoste polo shirts (of which I have a few), which may or may not be a problem depending on your wardrobe.

It also depends what age you are, I think the older you get the more you should avoid logo's on your clothing.

Sounds like the logo is already giving you doubts so I would swerve these.

The logo is most likely removable with a sharp knife or razorblade. I remove pretty much all logos from my clothes, etc. if possible. Even my Carhartt work jacket ;-)

A question for the experts: do well-made, expensive shoes last longer? Or do they just lend themselves to being repaired?

I purchased a pair from Macys, recommended in this thread. They were great and affordable, but the sole is wearing thin after a few months. Could this be avoided with pricier shoes?

To a certain extent, yes. But also they are easy to repair, so its a bit of both.

One of the biggest things with handmade shoes is that they need at least a day or two in between wearing them to let them 'breathe'. If they are your daily shoe, the leather picks up moisture, softens and wears out at a faster rate.

Get cedar shoe trees and at least a second set of shoes. This might sound expensive, but it will double or triple the wear you get out of the shoes.

I need shoe ideas. Post up photos of dope shoes. I don't care what type, dress shoes for suits, casual shoes, stylish sneakers you could wear with designer denim, loafers, sandals, whatever...

I need new kicks badly but I'm not sure where to start. I need some inspiration.
If you need shoe ideas you can read my post I think that it will be useful for you! - I recommend to buy shoes/boots from the site that is reviewed by another site that is available -> -> -> here please, read - that does reviews that are truthful and full of info on particular shoe manufacturers - there a lot of shops - with different types of shoes - like combat, hiking, snow, kids, ladies, cowboy etc.....

A good pair of high quality handmade shoes can last a lifetime. Obviously you cannot buy shoes like this in a store.

Any shoes that you seldom wear will last forever, even silk slippers. Proper metric is miles/km of walking under specified conditions (dry, wet, carpet, pavement, etc). I doubt the Prince has been walking thousands of miles through bogs alternating with rocky trails in his mahogany brogues.

Top quality (quality not same thing as expensive) shoes/boots use leather from the top of the cow (along the spine) which is better than leather from the sides, or they use alligator or buffalo or some other exotic leather which is inherently longer lasting than cow leather. But leather is still leather. It will split eventually at the point of flexion or your big toe will eventually bore a hole if the toe flexes up, etc. No exceptions to this rule. You can extend life by keeping leather properly lubricated with just enough wax/oil and not letting it get wet.

A good, well-made shoe, even if worn often, will last you multiple decades. You can resole it at the cobbler's when it wears out and you have essentially another shoe good for another 3-4 years.
The cost per wear becomes quite low after time, as opposed to a cheap shoe that you have to replace annually.

Tips: don't wear the same shoe daily, let the sweat and moisture dry out. Shine your shoes regularly, and learn how. Buy from reputable, quality makers--Allen Edmonds, Baker, Crockett & Jones, etc.

You can't?

This is marketing nonsense. Please don't repeat it.

You can buy quality handmade boots in a store. Just not a shit store.

There is no difference between a store bough chelsea boot and a hand made chelsea boot of the same materials and construction, and most likely both are hand made with the aid of machines anyway.

As for lasting a lifetime, this is also marketing nonsense.

Leather won't last forever, and I'm talking about leather soles specifically. They get trashed real quick unless you rarely wear them and never wear them outside.
