I missed my flight and they do nothing for me. It was like they didnt care at all and I was just shit out of luck. When I went to Brasil i missed a flight and American or US put me on the next flight no charge. I wont be using Spirit again, terrible customer service.

That's what pretty much every low-cost carrier does. If you miss your flight, you lose your money. If you cannot make it, you lose your money. If you have an emergency and have to leave one day before, you cannot. If this is too restrictive for you, do not use low-cost carriers.

Personally I try to avoid low-cost carriers all the time, as I found out that in the long term you'll end up paying the same amount as for Delta while receiving significantly less service.

I was just checking Delta, you can get a roundtrip ticket from LAX to Bogota for about $500 RT (inc. taxes). That is about the same price as Spirit, and it's nonstop! Spirit has been one of the worst airlines I have been on. It's fine if the flight is short, like the one from Ft Lauderdale to Bogota, but I took this cheap one from Lima to LAX ($250 one way) and it was a miserable experience, but for the price I don't really want to complain too much.

the crazy thing is, is that spirit is not losing any money by allowing me to sit in an empty seat on the plane. but by denying me that option they are losing my future business. terrible business practice. i can understand them not being able to put me on a full plane but not to put me in an empty seat after i already paid is complete bullshit
