Date Lab: Girl waited forever for tall man... still not satisfied

So this broad is about 6 feet tall and complains there aren't a lot of tall men in DC. Date Lab hooks her up with a 6'6 guy and she complains that the conversation was "bumpy."

Quote:Quote:

Emily: The conversation was a little bumpy. I feel like we didn’t get into that rhythm of conversation. I do feel like he seemed familiar to me in the typical D.C. [way]: moved here for a job, plays kickball. He did seem kind of shy, a little more soft-spoken, maybe?

He saw it a little differently, I suppose..

Quote:Quote:

Parker: She talked quite a bit about what she did [for work], so that was probably the first 20 or 30 minutes of the conversation. She kept going. I mean, I was interested, so I wasn’t bored or looking away.

It's his fault that he didn't get her crappy sense of humor..

Quote:Quote:

Emily: The sense of humor wasn’t really clicking. I’m admittedly kind of sarcastic, and I think that was falling flat. That kind of puts a damper on the rhythm of conversation. I didn’t feel like there were a lot of common interests. Things were kind of feeling incongruous.

Incongruous

And she's a smartphone addict..

Quote:Quote:

Emily: I am sort of the worst offender of needing my technology. I hate to admit it, but I’m certainly someone who I don’t know what I would do without a phone.

While his phone is broken..

Quote:Quote:

Parker: [There was] a handshake, and that was it. I’m definitely going to try to get in contact with her. I’m going to try to text her from a friend’s phone.

[Image: lol.gif] [Image: lol.gif]

He went for the second date.

Quote:Quote:

UPDATE: After Parker got his new phone, he and Emily traded some texts. But when Parker broached the idea of a second date, he says he got no response. “I can’t really say I’m surprised or disappointed that we didn’t meet up again,” he told us. Says Emily: “Not much contact since the date. There were a few texts, but things got very busy for me with this trip coming up.”

Until she finds her next 6'6 date, can we buy her a kitten on behalf of RVF senior members?

When you're not particularly physically attractive and are in a tiny subset of the population (ie a 6 foot tall woman who wants to wear heels and be with someone taller), it might not hurt to be a little more open-minded about things like whether someone plays kickball. Especially when you're the sort of scintillating personality that likes to dominate first date conversation with a 30 minute work war story monologue.

Bitch is a classic tall diva archetype, as I outlined in the thread about tall girls.

Her problem is not her height - it's that she emasculates every man that comes her way before she ever has a chance to appreciate them. For most men, merely their height is enough to eliminate them. If it's not his height, as here, she'll find something else, unless he plays the asshole or has fame.

She's the type to have an online dating profile like:

"Just because I'm tall doesn't mean I can't be attractive and feminine.

Men need to stop being intimidated by tall girls and only going for shorter women so they can feel more masculine.

Men are so superficial and shallow.

I need a REAL MAN who's not afraid of a tall girl.

Oh, only men 6'5" or taller please."

I couldn't imagine going on a first date to the type of establishment that would (non-ironically) have an ornately framed image of Ronald Reagan.

EDIT: Imagine having a first date here:

Not exactly the most sexy or romantic of places, though perfect for discussing geopolitics. Really shitty venue selection.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Do you know what's funny? When some of these women turn about 35-40 and don't find anyone they're like "I give up!" and wind up slumming with shorter men just to have companionship.

Some of them are even willing to go full-out Dudley Moore/Susan Anton or Jamie Cullum/Sophie Dahl (look it up) -- maybe not with dating, but definitely with sex. I know because I've made this a online-niche-gaming specialty: going after much taller women for sex only because it's an unspoken rule that a relationship won't be in the cards.

Sample conversation (and this is verbatim):
Me: "So you don't mind that I'm, like, a lot shorter?"
Her: "The last guy I was with that I met online was short AND bald."

I think the height thing is blown out of proportion. My own height has helped me sometimes, but it's not a real make-or-break factor.

I see short guys (5'8 kind of short) blow tall/ripped guys out of the water through simply better game and charisma.

Of course I've only ever lived/seen america, the land of aesthetics...

Tall women generally look gangly and boyish to me, pass.

Going to have to play devil's advocate on this one.

I didn't watch it, so only judging by the photo, but my initial impression is that he looks like an awkward person and she at least looks socially comfortable.

And I think we all know she's not hurting for dates.

I was wondering when Date Lab would make a comeback here. I'd say it was worth the wait. As for Parker and Emily I'm not surprised of the outcome based on Date Lab tradition. Looking at the picture in the first post you can tell the guy is tense based on the large grin and his clenched fist. He also made a big mistake in letting her ramble about her job for 30 minutes instead of interrupting her and telling her to shut up and talk about something else. As for her, all I needed to see was the position of her right arm to tell she's a typical stuck-up American bitch. Her attitude was no surprise. Although, I bet if Brad Pitt or Ashton Kutcher invited her to dinner she would cancel her trip and clear her schedule. [Image: lol.gif]

She looks no more comfortable than him. Guys usually don't like being in photo's. This is another case of Anglo American women being the selecters. I am sure he would clean up in SA or FSU. That means the problem is American-Anglo chicks.

I just read the article.

Everything she said implies she wasn't vibing him from the beginning, and much of what he says implies zero game. I see no reason to get feathers ruffled over this one. It was a blind date that didn't work, which is really no surprise.

He was a socially awkward guy and didn't even come close to making a move. He even said himself that women didn't usually "understand" his sense of humor (and yet failed to realize that she didn't either).

Translation: "I have no game."

Has there never been a woman with options on Datelab? Interesting...makes me wonder why posts are even made about it here then.

Sounds like she was signed up for a while without anything coming of it. My guess is she's been on quite a few dates (big surprise) since her name was on the list and then they got in touch and she said fuck it and gave it a go (part attention whoring/part adventure).

She didn't return the guy's phone call, and based on her photo alone (not that she's model material by any means), I doubt she's short of guys who want to bang her. Even fat chicks in America have dick lined up.

Not to mention the reports we get from the DC guys on the gender disparities there.

The thing that annoys me is that the girl was too much of a shithouse to say she didn't want a second date, and instead just decided to ignore his text. Really grates on me, that.

I had a shite date last night, from my perspective at least, and texted her today to say I didn't want to see her again.

Girls play too many games these days and it's too easy to hide behind your phone. I dislike that behaviour a lot.

That said, neither are really missing out on anything. He looks like a loser and she sounds like a bitch.

I like your style. Most girls stop replying. It's nice to see a man take charge and dismiss a girl like that. That shit sticks in their mind.

Why not just fail to call her and let her know she's not interested if she gets in touch and pursues a second date?

Getting in touch just to tell her you're not interested in seeing her again just seems either vindictive or an emotional lashing out, unless the circumstances of the date for some reason called for it. While I agree ignoring a text is a bit lame, I can't see how a guy with options could benefit from proactively attacking a woman's ego in this way.

Usually if a date didn't work for either party it's easy to just let it drift apart afterwards without making a scene out of things. Maybe I'm misunderstanding and she texted you first?

Yep, and her manlly hand-on-her-hip stance...not exactly an "I can't wait to spread my legs for this guy" message in her body language there.
