I agree, this is dysfunctional. But how does this have anything to do with liberal civil rights? The civil rights standard liberals promote is the idea that two consenting adults should be able to do what they like so long as they're not hurting anyone.

Pedophila falls outside of that standard. With bestiality, it's more murky. In both pedophilia and bestiality, one party cannot consent. However, with animals we don't ask for their consent when it comes to using them for food, as beasts of burden, or as subjects in experiments.

Fortunately this falls way out of the normal (whatever that is) spectrum of human sexuality to only be pursued by a small minority. I'm not really worried about it and I'd think the huge majority of people find this disgusting and appalling enough for it to never be an issue on the so called decline of western civilization.

See I'm a libertarian at heart. I do support less government and De-regulation. The point I was trying to make was that the same arguments used in the Gay Acceptance/Gay Marriage debate are being used to further other iconoclastic behaviors like this or incest or sex with minors.

By linking gay marriage to bestiality, sex with children and incest you're implying that it is somehow wrong/bad/unacceptable/disgusting. Yeah, gay is all the rage and in your face nowadays and that is annoying enough, but I don't find anything wrong with a gay couple having the same rights under the law as a straight couple. I'm glad society changed enough in that regard.

I have no problem with incest either if both parties do it freely.

There are vastly higher numbers of gays in society than incestuous couples. I remember a case of a brother and sister marrying in Spain a few years ago. In a world of 7 billion people I don't see this being anywhere near a trend or a problem.

No, but then homosexuality is rarer than the media would have us believe. Why are we so fixated upon gays, in particular gay men, when they comprise a sliver of humanity?

Incestuous couples will make up a sliver of a sliver, but given the medias propensity to magnify the abnormal, it's not so incredible to imagine it becoming an issue.

Even if the state doesn't legislate morality, I'd rather see civil society ostracize such perversions as incest and sodomy.

He was believed to be part of a group that congregated on a farm in Enumclaw, Washington to have sex with livestock. There were no specific laws forbidding sex with animals (why would there be, right?), but they still investigated potential animal cruelty to see if they were having sex with smaller animals that could result in harm to them, which IS a crime. This is a fuckin' sick story. Yeah, it's the dude's fault for letting a horse go up in him, but we as a society can't be okay with this. If he had survived, he should have been taken into custody and remanded to a mental health facility.

As for incest...we've read a few stories in media in recent years about siblings hooking up. But it's usually due to them not being raised as siblings and establishing a brother/sister relationship. Then there's Kathryn Harrison, who wrote "The Kiss," a book about her 4 year affair with her own father, the father she met for the first time at AGE 20. Again, they didn't have a father/daughter relationship, so there were no boundaries. If we start endorsing incestuous relationships, we start unleashing a flood of genetic defectives into the population. An extreme example of this is the Fundamentalist Mormon offshoot leader Warren Jeffs compound near the Arizona/Utah border. Because these communities don't associate with outsiders, they pass the same defective genes around. They had several children born with a rare brain disorder that leads to death in childhood (its effects are similar to those of Lou Gehrig's disease, in that there is neurological deterioration). It's a disease so rare, that most doctors worldwide will go their whole careers without seeing a case of it, or reading about it. Well, they had several cases coming out of that one compound. And they'll continue to have this happen, because it amounts to incest with cousins, if not siblings. So many people will be carriers of the gene that it's inevitable that kids will be born with it. So if the moral/psychological reasons aren't enough to convince you that this is wrong, there are compelling biological reasons. There's no guarantee that the defective genes will forever be contained within one family, so for that reason, it's EVERYONE'S business.

False dichotomy. I can both be for a free society and be against people having sex with animals, or men having sex with men.

Step one, we can abolish all marriage laws. This is for freedom.

Step two, people can publicly shame (and political leaders should do this in their speeches) faggots and animal fuckers. People shamed this way will become outcasts and not a single arrest will be made.

Thus the problem is solved - people can do as they please, yet they will still face consequences for their behavior.
