Cabin In The Woods: The Elites, Illusions Of Autonomy & Social Collapse

Note: I have two highly relevant threads, my Faculty thread & Beetlejuice thread. No need to read them to get this piece. I will still step through relevant analysis here. I also link to the Gervais Principle in this article, I HIGHLY recommend you read his exegesis of posts. Be warned, if you think I am wordy, I can't hold a candle to that cat.

"Cabin In The Woods" was an excellent dark comedy/horror movie released the other year. It is about a group of five young people who travel to a cabin & are killed off systematically in order to appease the a group of creatures known as “The Ancients.” The message of the movie can be a taken a few ways, and in sense, is very deep. The whole situation is rigged by some ultra-powerful agency tasked with making sure that sacrifices are made to these ancients, but also that the people scarified to so of their own free will.

Overview Of The Movie

Let’s review the movie. As I said, five college age people travel to an isolated cabin in the woods for a weekend. Two of the people are in a relationship, one woman is a woman of limited sexual experience & nerdy friend of the boyfriend & the pothead brother of the sister. The weekend starts of uneventful until that first evening, when they wander into the cellar and are confronted with a myriad of trinkets, books and personal artifacts. They all represent archetypes of various monsters, evil people or aliens.

[Image: 570_The-Cabin-in-the-Woods-official-movi...r-8053.jpg]

They pick up a Bible of some serious backwards rednecks and unleash the “Redneck Zombie Torture Family.” It is entirely consistent with American psychology that they pick some serious self-punishing puritans. The movie goes in this vein, as the character seek to survive. The girlfriend (slut) is the first die as she runs off recklessly into the woods and begs her boyfriend to give her the cock.

All throughout this, the agency is manipulating the people with pheromones, slight interjections such as blowing the cellar door open to get their attention. However, their plan does not go off, as the pothead (loser) & virgin archetypes don’t die and kill off the zombies and find an entrance to an elevator that takes them to the agency HQ. They run quickly into the control room for the housing of all the beasts. In order to save themselves from impending sacrifice, they release them all.

It is too much for the agency to bear, as all manner of bloodthirsty creature is unleashed and eats the agency whole. Of course, these two survive and kill off the HQ head who tries in vain to kill the loser. The world apparently ends as “The Ancients” take over the world again.

Hierarchies Of Americans

Elites: Represented by “The Ancients.” Very powerful and needs worship from the masses to stay placated. In most societies, if their demands are not met, they unleash oppression, violence & death upon the masses. The monsters represent the ways the elite can hurt & manipulate the masses. They can do it in many ways, as the multiplicity of monsters represent. They use high forms of manipulation to induce suicide & drug abuse. They can use outright murderous violence. They can use religion as a tool for self-infliction of harm (Redneck Zombie Torture Family). They can use patriarchy as a form of oppression – one archetype was listed as “The Bride,” probably a sick woman who seduces a man than uses him for a lifetime of psychological or emotional abuse. Understand I will be arguing against myself later on this subject.

Enforcers: Represented by the agency. They do the dirty work the Elites don’t want to have to do. In America, they are the media, academics and often times, are people who identify has feminists, liberals and public policy wonks. They are little more than chess pieces who act out schemes of oppression to ensure the will of the Elites will be down.

This is the illusion of autonomy. These types are often utterly convinced they are increasing autonomy & helping those they are indoctrinating.

We see this in the movie, as the two main characters at the agency appear convinced that despite the manipulation of the five college kids, those kids are still exercise autonomy.

Aspirational 14%: Kvetching to get into the Elites. They often went to top schools, often times having went to top-tier professional schools. I met many of these types in law school. Convinced they will be raking in six-figures by 30, then making partner and stacking paper to the ceiling. They often have a poor grasp on reality, but good enough to manipulate power enough to rise to their level of incompetence. The elites select a few to rise based on their ability to understand power dynamics in the workplace & reality. The elites needs them to bust their ass managing the tax affairs of their corporations, toiling away doing research for the government, military or high-ranking judicial officers.

Everybody Else: The masses that need to invest a society that cares not a whit for them. They are manipulated seven ways to Sunday. Religion, drugs, birth control, the educational system, victim politics, mindless fights between Republicans & Democrats. The Elites know you can be reached an manipulated - it is just finding out what buttons to press. As we see in the movie, however, the enforcers are incredibly powerful but are fallible. I will argue that the movie is wrong about characterizing the Elites as all-powerful - the real Elites are biology & human psychology - things that are beyond pure manipulation.

Illusions Of Autonomy

Let me bring the analysis I chopped up in my Faculty thread.

Autonomy is an illusion in modern America. Manipulation of the populace through media, marketing & government indoctrination severely limits personal autonomy in this country. Let's talk about feminism & the public school system.

Feminists claim to be fighting against gendered norms that prevent real expressions of autonomy by women. That is a sleight of hand, as they really seek to hand women a new paradigm to operate within. You see feminists debate whether Katy Perry or Taylor Swift are feminist and then conclude they need to more feminist. If the stated goal of feminism is pure autonomy for women, then who cares if those two women? A necessary causality of autonomy-based movement is some people won't be on board - some will prefer to suborn themselves to dominate social norms.

However, that isn't the real issue. The issue is that the Sexual Revolution & female fiscal independence has unleashed hypergamy & the hamster writ large and feminists can't come to terms with that. Fully committed to gendered behavior as socially constructed they refuse to acknowledge they have unleashed a beast - in the form of the smattering of monsters that destroy the agency & the world in the process in "Cabin In The Woods."

As for the educational system, the lack of autonomy is so glaringly obvious is goes over most people's heads. I have heard teachers talk about lesson plans based on challenging gender norms & homophobic norms. I always comment education should be about giving kids the ability critically analyze the world around them without having preconceived notions about reality.

Further, we saw this during in Texas with the controversy about conservative reworking of textbooks. Liberal strongly argued that it was racists, backwards, etc. However, all they did was expose themselves as admitting the textbooks were, in fact, liberal. Of course, we see that with MSNBC & FOX news viewers - they both think they are fair & balanced with the other is the disinformation news channel. More pawns fighting other pawns.

Back to the educational system, it is about creating narcissists. TLP notes how our schools create narcissistic pawns who suborn themselves to authority figures. Whether that is the purpose or not isn't the relevant point, what is relevant is the fact the schools do, in fact, do that. Schools don't create confident, autonomous individuals - they create dependent narcissists who desperately need the help & care of the Elites.

The media helps keep these dependents plugged in. Poor pawns are on welfare & food stamps. Middle class pawns are trapped in jobs they hate to provide for their family. Needing the system more than system needs them it is a self-perpetuating system. Student loans reflect this as well, but as I will argue, the tables are getting turned.

The Elites Unleashed Forces That Will Lead To Social Collapse

Relevant to this part is my Beetlejuice thread.

We are living in society that isn't just flirting with social collapse, but embracing it wholeheartedly. Like the ending to Stephen King's Pet Sematary, we are embracing our murderous, resurrected wife with the expectation that it won't be fatal.

The Elites have done many things in the past hundred years. They got women the right to vote so they have a much easier class of people to manipulate, they installed the Fed so they have vehicle to pursue fiat monetary policy. Most importantly, during FDR's term, they saw the potential in vastly increasing the size, scope & power of the federal government to advance their interests.

In years past, they fought bitterly against federal power, desiring to limit executive & judiciary power. However, once they got sympathetic political figures into the federal system they changed their tune. They recognized they could cement their power through authoritarian means - executive orders, legislative fiat & Supreme Court decisions.

Of course, the primary reason was the collision of interests. The US government saw an opening to start socially engineering the American populace in the wake of the Great Depression. FDR's constellation of programs aimed at helping the ailing citizen wasn't born out of compassion - it was born out of wanting to bring the average American under more control.

[Image: 200px-Eros_and_Civilization_Beacon_Press_edition.jpg]

Going forward, we see Cultural Marxists start to flex their muscle on American campuses. Books like Marcuse's "Eros & Civilization" laid the groundwork for the Sexual Revolution. However, these actors aren't Elites, like the loser & the virgin in the movie. They helped unleash forces that the Elites were not ready to deal with or aware of.

The cracks in Elite power start to emerge as hypergamy & female privilege rip through the system. The Enforcers try to paint these develops as positive. Before the internet, they had a stranglehold on the discourse as politically correct doctrine reigned supreme in the media & academia.

The great strains exerted to keep the social order in line are at heroic levels, but were blown up by the democratic nature of the Internet. Once people had a way to talk to anybody about anything they wanted it struck a blow against prevailing approaches to political & social discourse. It not only allowed red-pill thought to thrive, but it also allowed for blue-pill/feminist go completely down the rabbit hole.

When I mention that Beetlejuice thread, I am referencing the Elite's misunderstanding of human biology & sexuality. Understand social constructionism was & is (to a lesser extent) the prevailing view amongst the Elite. They overplayed their gendered hand & got burned badly when women demonstrated that hypergamy isn't just real but absolutely virulent in advanced societies. They have tried to put the Genie back into the bottle, but to no avail.

Just like the arrogance of the agency handlers in "Cabin In The Woods," they overplayed their hand and lost in the end. Issues - monsters - bubbling under the surface got released & all hell broke lose. They kept all the ways to manipulate you on hand - the elevators of all the monsters - but didn't expect them to get turned back on them. Once released in a fury, they destroyed the world.

Like I observed in the Beetlejuice thread, when Otho is desperately flipping through that manual, it is too late to apologize. Social forces beyond his kin are in full effect.

We see this as the agency observes the monsters enact their type of violence onto their victims - all on security cameras. We see an incredible variety of violence & evil.

Eventually, we see them succumb to the forces they oppressed for so long.

Conclusion

[Image: Anna-Hutchison---Spartacus-War-Of-The-Damned.jpg]

As I wrote this piece, I realized there was more going on than I initially expected.

A theme developed in the movie is the fact that these monsters existed before the peace was established with "The Ancients." "The Ancients" will chill so long as autonomous sacrifices are made to them.

The movie reflects a tension between the past & the future. They know the past is lurking in the elevators, while also knowing their future is contingent on slaking the sacrificial thirst of "The Ancients."

Understand "Cabin In The Woods" was a great movie that highlighted the lack of autonomy people have in American society. Manipulated by a society that will eventually collapse, they double down on America's original sin - narcissism.

The hierarchies are clear.

The ending, not so much. The contours of human psychology & female hypergamy have yet to write a chapter, much less an epilogue. There is much to learned, much to be understood & much more to be analyzed.

I can only hope to be a part of that movement.

I genuinely have no idea what any of your posts are about but I respect the not inconsiderable time and effort you must put into them.

Good work.

I'm sorry. I can't see any correlation between real events and the fiction of this. It might serve as a metaphor but it seems very heavy handed.

You watch cabin in the woods and see issues of feminism, a poor education system, narcissism, and hierarchy battles?

I saw a nice pair of tits and an average thriller/horror flick. I did laugh out loud when the jock plowed into the invisible force field and plummeted to his death, apparently I was the only one in the theater who thought that was funny.

Richard Feynman was criticized for over analyzing things such as the beauty of a flower. He replied that he could see the beauty and the physics and the physics of the beauty so he could see more. Haters gonna hate on those who can see more.

This type of analysis is done by the Left to attack capitalism, the family and men. It's time they got a dose of their own.

Keep up the good work.

Interesting. So what's the end game of the Elite that pull all the strings? Why do they do all this? Just the basic want of a huge bank account to throw towards hedonistic pleasures and the joy of power over other people?

The game is over and it's been over. The elites won, and they won a long time ago.

Right now the squabbles are about distribution of the spoils.

Unless you somehow subvert the laws of physics, this is how things will remain.

As for feminism being an Ebola virus for the power structure, all I can do is laugh.
