Scar Tissue by Anthony Keidis. Straight up sex, drugs, and rock and roll. One of the coolest books I've ever read hands down. Dude had a crazy life. It's the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers auto biography. I don't care if you like the band or not, it's totally worth the read.

I haven't read this one but it's on my list. I've read Nikki Sixx's autobiography from Motley Crue 'Heroin Diaries'. It's pretty nuts..

I'd like to read "Heroin Diaries" as well. My best friend read it and was telling me all about it the whole time he was reading out. Sounds pretty good. Definitely check out Scar Tissue, it's a must read.

'Dirt' by Motley Crue is sposed to be crazy as well, I think it came out before Heroin Diaries.

Also, while on the subject...I wonder how Keith Richards book 'Life' is, was released recently I believe...

Yeah, my same friend who was reading "Heroin Diaries" also read "Dirt", said it was awesome as well. He's a huge Motley Crue fan. I don't like them very much but would like to read the books. I know those guys had a lot of fun in their days.

I just finished reading Tim Ferriss' new book "The 4-Hour Body" and wanted to write a little review since I know a few of us are considering getting it.

I think most of us on this site know who the author is from "The 4-Hour Workweek" so I'll do a quick write-up keeping that in mind.

At first this book appears to be a completely different topic from 4HWW, health instead of business. While true, it has quite a bit in common too. A major common theme between the two is how to get more results from less work.

After reading 4HWW, you ask yourself "Who are the 20% of my customers that are providing 80% of my profits?" (I applied this to my real estate business). This book makes you ask yourself "What are the small changes I can make to my diet/exercise/sex life that will provide noticeable and immediate results?" Yes that's right I said sex life. The book has a whole chapter on sex and increasing testosterone which right there is worth the $15 investment for guys on this forum IMO. As for the 15-minute female orgasm claim? It's mostly BS to sell books, but I will try the technique shortly and see for myself. [Image: wink.gif]

I wasn't surprised to see some cross-over to his blog. In some cases the blog post was recited word-for-word, however there is tons of fresh content here. This book is about 2x as long as 4HWW, and is not supposed to be read all at once. It's very long. As long and information-blitzing as it is, it's extremely readable. Lots of interesting stories, humor, and just good writing make it pretty easy to read.

Any questions, just let me know, or just buy the book.

5/5 stars.

PS- Sorry I havent been very active on the forum lately. I'm getting my shit in gear here in DC in order to be able to make extravagant mini-retirements pretty much all the time.

Long term:

1. Fermented cod liver oil + vitamin rich butter fat
2. Vitamin D3
3. Short ice baths or cold showers
4. Brazil nuts

Short term boost:

-Lots of cholesterol within three hours of bedtime the night before sex.
-Four hours prior to sex, consuming brazil nuts, raw almonds, and fermented cod liver oil + butter.

Lum, how's The Fountainhead so far? It's the book that first made the philosophy of Objectivism spark interest.

The Fountainhead was pretty amazing, but I always kinda thought Objectivism was a rip off of Existentialism. The political motivations behind the book kinda bothered me a bit too... Still a wicked book though. I'm starting Atlas Shrugged right after Hemingway's Islands in The Stream.

I recommend Jean Paul Sartre's No Exit to everyone! It's something that will keep you thinking for a while.

The Feast of the Goat - Mario Vargas Llosa, 2010 nobel prize winner. Not really a biography, but more a historical novel about the dictator of the Dominican Republic, 1930s-1960s.

It is a hell of a good book.

If you haven't read it before, check out Ben Franklin's AUTObiography. Shit is incredibly current and hilarious. He was basically the 18th-century version of what we're all trying to be, to varying degrees of success. Dude was a self-made man and international player who never stopped trying to improve himself.

If you liked Feynman's book, I think you'd like Franklin. You can get it for free if you have an e-reader like Kindle--or get it for next-to-nothing used.

I've been reading 'Hagakure' by Yamamoto Tsunetomo and William Scott Wilson. Pretty interesting and very authentic.

Currently reading 'Persuasion Skills Black Book' by Rintu Basu, seems good so far.

I highly recommend you the biography of Giacomo casanova (it's lengthy though) and the extraordinary biography of Porfirio Rubirosa International Playboy. Both mention that Ovid's art of love was an influence on them.

The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll by Alvaro Mutis

My favourite book.

Mutis is the best Colombian novelist, better even than Garcia Marquez in my book. It's a collection of stories following the adventures of Maqroll el Gaviero (the lookout) -- an adventurer and sailor of unknown nationality who spends his life vagabonding around the world. His adventures include opening a whore house in Panama, gun running in the Mediterranean, gold mining in the Andes.

If you don't read Spanish it's available in a very good translation here http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Misadve...0940322919

Genius in Disguise: Harold Ross of the New Yorker

I found this book for $1 in a used bookstore and it was a fantastic read. A guy who really has no business starting a literary New York magazine turns his project into a stunning success.

The Portable Sixties Reader

An anthology of essays on/from the 60s reading like a who's who: Hunter Thompson, Malcolm X, William S. Burroughs, Timothy Leary, Lenny Bruce, Charles Bukowski, Eldridge Cleaver, Gloria Steinem, and way too many more to mention. I got this book as a gift and for a couple of years I never bothered to pick it up, but once I did I finished it in a week.

The Bedside Playboy

Another anthology, with interviews, articles, and short stories from Playboy magazine. With content from various authors including Woody Allen, P.G. Wodehouse, David Mamet, Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, John Updike, Jimmy Breslin, Hunter Thompson, and more.
