Hm, the old Falcon Punch didn't work this time.

The chin has alot more nerves then the cheek area, so the dude avoided a total KO when he got hit. Props on him maintaining composure since he knew the cops were right there ready to arrest this guy.

^ I actually don't think the punch had much KO power even if he hit the chin, it was massively telegraphed and out of range. Plus there wasn't any follow through, he retracted his arm expecting a 'one bomb' but it didn't happen!

What do you think of Deontay Wilder? I think he seems a really top bloke, but he telegraphs his punches too much at the moment, and think he needs to reign that in if he fights a top level opponent.

Right. He caught him at the end of the punch, and on top of that didn't punch through his target. He didn't really have a lot of leverage, but I'm still a little surprised the guy that got hit wasn't even stunned. Not seeing a punch coming is part of why guys get dropped.

Absolutely. That's why Prince Naseem had such a high KO percentage. He had massive legs for a small guy, but the angles he threw shots at meant he got guys when they weren't expecting it. I guess that mini-second where you sort of see it prepares the body for it, but if you literally can't see it at all, it's game over. I could talk boxing all day, I love it!

I like Wilder. He's an impressive physical specimen. He works the jab, and he's had some of the coolest knockouts in the division. I like that he finishes guys. It's time to step him up to bigger names now, as he's run through everyone else.

The guy who got hit was leaning up against the wall and relaxed. His whole body moved when he got hit so I don't think his head actually absorbed that much of the punch. If he'd been stiff he probably would have been more phased.

Yeah, I had to watch the video a couple of times to get the dynamics.

It's funny. The guy was so loose that his body just absorbed the energy of the punch. If he had been expecting one, he'd have gone to sleep.

You don't KO someone from hitting them in the cheek. The best places to hit someones head are the chin, behind the ear and in the back of the head. Hitting someone on the chin will hurt your hand the least.

For what it's worth, I fought in boxing many years ago and also Muay Thai. I also trained, managed, and match made pro boxers from Thailand, the PI, Singapore, and a couple of other countries.

First, as someone else posted, the guy leaned away while getting hit, thus taking away from some of the impact.

Second, the guy throwing the punch does lift up his back leg, which takes away from his power. As you pivot, the foot should grab the ground and drive through. This guy didn't do that and while he got some of his body behind it, he could have hit him a lot harder.

Finally, maybe the guy can take a shot, who knows.

Whether hit under the ear or on the point of the chin makes no difference. If a guy has decent power and technique, many guys will go to sleep if they're hit there.
