Who's watching Vikings on the History channel?

The Vikings traded deep into Russia. In fact, the name Russia itself comes from "Rus", which designated the Vikings early on and transferred later on to the slavic Russians. Up the Volga and into the Caspian and Black seas, they came into contact and blended with central Asian people and brought in slaves like Ragnar's side muffin.

That last episode could have been epic but it was a bit lackluster, it had some good fight scenes but lacked realism. Why would Rollo send a fleet to fight the Vikings in their element, ship to ship, where they are the experts? He could have just continued to pick them off and weakened them at strategic points along the meandering Seine river with crossbows and lit arrows. Also, the banks of the Seine were inhabited even back then, with shipping and fishing up and down the river. Ragnar couldn't have set up camp and build up the transport logistics without the Franks knowing about it earlier. The fight scenes from the Paris siege last season and from the Rollo tower asskicking a few weeks ago were better.

Nevertheless, I was rooting for the Christians and it was good to see them win. It was good to see the Norwegian death metal types and especially their ridiculous scrawny shieldmaiden get stumped. The writers have had a pagan bias throughout the series.

Didn't like the crap about the emperor being homo, his fat right hand man being into modern-style S&M and king Egbert being a male feminist. Crap artistic license.

Yeah, I made a similar post earlier. They must've had a feminist SJW writing this season. Hopefully they dump her ass before she ruins the show. The finale was much higher quality than the rest of the season, but pales in comparison to past seasons. It was so obvious that they had a new writer too, because they completely changed the personalities of various characters to fit the narrative. Egbert was no longer a cunning ruler, Charles went from weakling to scheming fag, Rollo listened to his wife, etc.

To me, this is still one of the best shows around (even given all the silly shieldmaidens/strong warrior women, Harbard's whole arc, Ecbert turning into a soft feminist for a 5). I like how Rollo has finally become his own man (at great cost). I also am excited to see Alfred grow up (if they get that far)... Ragnar's now grown-up sons seem fairly well cast and hopefully add something to the show. Anyone know what the deal is with Harbard? Is he Odin in disguise or just some asshole cuckolding all the men while they're away at war?

^Whoooa. Ecberts daughter in law is anything but a 5.

She's a solid 7, but I think Swooper might have given her demerit points for being a feminist b1tch. In the real world, she would have been slapped into her senses.

The more I watch this, the more I cant stand the whole feminism ingrained in virtualy every notable female character. Always built up to be the "free, fierce independent women" with shit tons of vices but "who cares if I'm free??"

Im just glad Floki doesnt die, as well as his faithful wife Helga. He is about the only interesting character, with actual, fierce and deep conviction in his gods and the old ways.

The story is well done so I'll stick till the end.

The Liberal agenda has been on an exponential increase over the past few years - the Left is clearly doubling down as they are sensing a sea change. Same happened with GOT up to the point where all the male main characters were either killed off or diminished in status. It'll all end up with the lead female characters duking it out for the throne in the final season.

I think this has to play out all the way until the main audiences of scifi & fantasy entertainment (i.e. men) are pushed over the edge and start leaving in droves. I would have expected this to happen a long time ago but I'm a crusty old dog and my tree kicking threshold was breached shortly after the turn of the century. This cultural Marxim is weakening our society across the board and either we see a reversal soon (i.e. Trump in and Merkel out - rebirth of nationalism and masculinity) or we may need to extract ourselves from the Western cultural sphere (i.e. Eastern Europe, Asia, or South America - and even there we're seeing creeping influence of the (((agenda)))).

I had to take a break from this show after the Blood Eagle episode in season two. Usually I like blood and violence but watching someone be slowly tortured to death like that freaked me out.

Afterwards, I looked up this torture on Wikipedia. Apparently there is some debate about whether it was ever actually applied or just existed in the sagas and was badly translated. This being the History Channel, they do try a bit harder than others to include historically accurate details (girl power aside), down to the architectural details of their ships.

I'm curious to see what happens to Athelstan. The Seer is an interesting character. However, it looks like they swapped out the actor for one who is less mysterious.

Actual "girl power" in Viking times was pretty much like modern America: Gudrun Osvifsdottir

- marry a guy, accuse him of being gay to justify a divorce, take half his stuff
- stage a crime and pin suspicion on a rival
- marry another guy, push him to take dangerous jobs to make big money, get him killed thereby
- pit two brothers against each other, marry one, get them to kill each other
- manipulate rich man into giving expensive gifts
- promise to marry a white knight, then weasel out on a pretext and marry an alpha instead
- lose hotness and mind and end up a cat lady (okay, a nun, but in that context it was much the same result)

Well, there are a lot Americans with Viking heritage. That would explain a lot.

I initially thought the thread title was asking if anyone is watching the Vikings on Monday Night Football right now. I'm glad I'm not a New York Giants fan!

Odin be praised, it was a good one. I am pretty sure that Ragnar will die till the end of the season.

I gotta say, Ivar is quickly becoming my favorite character. Great start to part 2 of season 4...

In the Sagas he was among the most fierce and well known warriors. I hope they present us a worthy depiction.

I still am pulling for an Odin-scale resurrection...

Doubt it'll happen though, proud to see that Ivar is finally starting to understand his power.

I like how the show showed the gradual mortality of Ragnar. They would ruin it now if he was resurrected.

Yup, it'd completely ruin the shows credibility, but it'd be awesome to see those fuckers faces...

No cable TV, so I am behind with the series since I have to wait for it to come on Amazon Prime streaming.

The feminist overtones was rather annoying (as pointed out in by previous posters). The one part that had both my wife (who really likes the series) and me doing a face palm was showing a pregnant Lagatha hauling boats across land and defeating men in edged weapon close quarters combat.

I am convinced season 4 was written by gay men and childless women... people who have never been pregnant or experienced it by proxy (i.e. pregnant wife). Real pregnant women, in particular the first trimester, are just happy to just have a day of NOT puking, migraines, fatigue, etc. Engaging in hand to hand combat? Oh please!

I hope this silly line of writing doesn't get worse. If it does, it will kill what has been a pretty solid series.

All TV shows, no matter if they endorse red pill or not are susceptible to SJW infiltration. Game of Thrones has just limited infiltration and I am glad for it (overpowered Dany, Sand Snakes). Pretty sure they will keep it that way.

The show has ever increasing feminist infestation - they cuck for it 24/7 and have now introduced full-time shieldmaiden female warriors, while in reality shieldmaidens were a defensive last-ditch effort by Vikings. They knew that they cannot let their women go fight against enemy warriors. A 50yo Italian warrior was worth 3 Viking shieldmaidens - they would have died out if they did that.

Most shows and movies are now becoming unwatchable.

Saw Jack Reacher recently - fuck that shit. They gave him a female sidekick who outmatches him now and throws a hissy fit when he does not let her go take out 4 guys by herself - which according to her she could have done just as well.
