Unfortunate hypotheticals

You just got married to the love of your life and you're ecstatic about your future together. You plan on having a child as soon as possible.
At work you get a phone call. She has been in a car accident. Drunk driver. They tell you the details as you stare at the photo of her on your office desk. Big beautiful smile, long wavy hair, youthful rosy cheekbones, warm eyes. You will never see her that way again.
Her car got caught in flames. She was pinned and unable to get out. Firefighters expected her to be dead once the fire got extinguished, but she was still alive.
They had to take the entire seat to the hospital because her skin melted into it. Her nose is gone, her eyelids are gone, her scalp is gone, and so are all of her fingers and she has severe deforming burns all over her body. The doctor tells you they will be able to make new eyelids for her after 20 surgeries.
You think on this for 2 weeks while she is still unconscious, and then she awakes. You walk into the hospital room and she reaches out her finger-less stump to you. Where do you go from there?

Would never get married.

I find it harder imaging how I ended up married. Than I do worrying about how I would deal with all those medical emergencies.

Anyway - reminds me of the case of Tyler Ziegel:

Sadly - Tyler died a few month ago after slipping on some ice. He was 30.

Nothing. Infection or smoke inhalation would've killed her long ago.

I would caretake but very carefully cheat on the side, preferably with just one but maybe two women. I would also try to pawn her off onto her family for primary caretaking but would absolutely provide financial support.

If you're getting no love nobody should feel fit to condemn you for taking care of your own physical needs. A man's loyalty is different from a woman's.

Seems like a good time to develop a drinking problem.

If you are married, you are responsible for her. Moreover, if you signed a pre-nup, the accident would invalidate it.

I would feel heartbroken first for her, then for myself. After the initial shock, I think I'd stay and wouldn't try to wriggle out of the word I gave, but I would be suffering. I don't know if I could bear it all my life. There are some men and women who have done it, but no one can know in advance if they could do it.

I guess try to do the right thing knowing I can't last forever and eventually move on after a year or 2, file for divorce and split.

But I admit, eventually I would probably bail.

Having just gotten married you're probably more in love than at any other point in your life, and her being in this kind of an accident would compound other positive take-care-of-her feelings on top of that. In all I can see it being a year or more before even a red pill game aware guy starts to think anything other than "honorable" thoughts. But once those thoughts start they'll never go away. The religious type would stick it out the longest, possibly indefinitely.

What would evolution do?

The cognitive dissonance will sort itself out either in a nervous breakdown or a change of worldview. Sooner or later you'll leave her.
