Online Marketing (SEO, Social Media) & Coding

OP, learn how to sell. Don't worry about the technical issues. You make money selling stuff not setting up websites.

Thanks man.

I am still sifting through some of the advice and sources that I have received on here.

I definitely think organic traffic is best compared to just relying on keyword search conversion.

Additionally, it seems as though you can get pretty basic websites set up by cheap freelancers.

So perhaps the saying "work ON your business not IN your business" really applies here.

I am not looking to code the next Facebook or Instagram. I am more so looking to create online products, which may be delivered through an e-book, video module, training course, etc....

So technically speaking, it shouldn't be rocket science.

That is why I thought it might be useful to develop basic coding and website design fundamentals.

Thoughts?

It's not rocket science. You want to create a ebook then open word, start typing and when you're finished you've got an ebook.

Whether that ebook is of any interest to anyone or you can sell it is a different story all together.

Be sure people actually want what you are selling before wasting time and money creating websites and products first.

If you have a target market in mind (I would advise focusing on something you are interested in and have knowledge on as it's difficult to write with authority and not get bored otherwise) then go do some research (search blogs and forums for what questions people ask and what problems they have) and when you find a problem create a solution in the form of an ebook or video.

You don't need to learn coding, just get a self hosted wordpress blog and a premium theme like Genesis Generate or Thesis. Can have a killer looking website set up by yourself in a few days.

And look for the Niche Site Duel 2.0 post. Should still be on the 1st page.

It is exactly what you've asked for..what you want, but not necessarily what you need.

WIA

Whilst it does cover what he's asking in a way the niche site duel is more of an SEO contest to see who can rank a site and make the most money in a set period of time. I wouldn't recommend the OP following the method of trying to rank a site on a topic he knows nothing about. Both will be difficult for a newbie. Stick with what you know and avoid SEO to begin with, it's too time consuming with no guarantee these days.

Advice - make sure there's a demand for your product before you waste ANY time creating one.

Indeed. I made that mistake when I first started creating products I thought were cool but no one other than me and 4-5 other people needed or wanted. Solving problems that didn't exist.

What a waste of time and money.

1.) You can't really trust these web marketers for help. They're always trying to sell you something, like those PUA bullshitter -- each one has a theory a niche they are trying to monetize. Go to warriorforum and look and these guys in action. YOU ARE THE MARKET! Some of it sounds like a ponzi scheme, that feeds the dream of being an internet marketer. If you can't articulate the value added then it's probably a scam.

2.) There are tons of ways to make money online, not just a single way so do your research. Some sell traffic, some build website to bring in traffic, some design the website that bring traffic, some install the design to the website that brings in traffic.. some do this for iphone, some for kindle, some for whatever device, some sell products that use traffic, some build website for products that uses traffic.. it all ends in infinity. There are business models upon business models to choose from. My theory is that feeding upon the growth of wannabe internet marketers in itself becomes the niche of the seasoned internet marketer and marks their success.

3.) Just start. I should have started long ago and I regret not having done so. oh well..

It's true that you have to be careful who you listen to, there's a lot of self proclaimed gurus out there who either aren't making any money or only make money by selling information to other people on how to make money.

When it comes to following and copying the 'real' gurus it's usually better to copy what they do than follow what they say. If they are doing it then it probably works...if they are saying it then it does not necessarily work but they are saying it you get YOU to do something like buy their product.

The amount of respected marketers who send out emails or write articles saying do this and do that and I notice they are doing none of it themselves. Some are very transparent though and can be trusted, you just have to know who you are dealing with.

This. Anyone can set up a wordpress site and add content to it. The skill is being able to sell what you have on offer.

Here's an article I like on making sales without selling: http://www.copyblogger.com/sell-without-selling/

What do you mean by 'organic traffic is best compared to relying on keyword search conversion'?

What sort of 'organic' traffic are you talking about?

Traffic doesn't come to you, you need to find your audience and get them from wherever they are to where you want them to be.

The corner stone of getting traffic is having incredible content that people can't help but love, going to where your audience is then getting your target audiences eyeballs on that content.

Forget about SEO for traffic for now. Focus on methods that are easier to control and you can do near instantly like content marketing (article syndication / guest blogging), video marketing, social media, forum posting, blog commenting, PPC, banner ads or whatever else works for your site.

Off the top of my head, some sites worth checking:

Social Triggers
Smart Passive Income
Copy Blogger
Unbounce
Matthew Woodward
Kissmetrics Blog
Viper Chill
Shoemoney
Sprout Social

Total BS Video.

Whats funny is that video "exposes"some of the most reputable Internet Marketers who have helped a huge amount of people become successful.

I got my start by buying an IM product back in 1997 from Corey Rudl at the Internet Marketing Center. He was considered one of the founders in the space and a true pioneer.

That advice was the cornerstone for me to go on and build from scratch and then sell 2 - 7 figure+ Online businesses.

Are there scammers out there ? sure...but they dont last long and are certainly not the guys in that video.

Yeah "The Syndicate" just had alot overpriced products really. Nothing really sinister about them.

I was in Stompernet for a while and it was good, best info I found at the time. That stuff wasn't in the free forums.

And Some of the guys were real SEO heavyweights - Leslie Rohde, Dan Thies etc. I learned so much about Pagerank, site structure and how links really worked; these guys owned thousands of sites and Leslie was pretty much a data-scientist, reverse-engineering patterns from SERP data. Powerful stuff. I think they left to start their own consultancy. Stompernet also had a guy who was previous head of Analytics at Yahoo... the material was definitely solid.

That said, it was overpriced and cheesy and salesy. But there were several members (not faculty) who were real heavyweight e-commerce store owners, pulling 6,7, even 8 figures revenue. It was a legit, premium resource, underneath all the upsell and cheesy copy.

SaltyDroid?

GTFO

"...stop the people...stop the cartels..."

What's wrong with mailing other people's products for affiliate commissions?

If you can't afford a product for $997. Don't buy it.

I can. If it seems legit, I will. If not, bet your ass I'm going to refund.

Buying a product for 1K, implementing 2 things (big tip, sometimes you have to do a little thinking and tweak them for your business), and driving gross revenue to 10K through a single business or marketing channel is fine by me.

Perry Belcher? I made over 2.5K in additional revenue from going to ONE conference. That's direct advice from when he was speaking. Total things implemented? 3. I did them at the hotel I was at that night. Total cost? Less than $500.

Now, is that website still running? No. It was a churn and burn and wasn't worth the time to go in and remove 800 paid links. Plus, that product isn't hot anymore.

Frank Kern? I downloaded (read: stole) List Control or Mass Control...whatever the one I downloaded was called. Nearly doubled what my I was making off my emails to existing customers. And that's an old product.

You're just trolling this thread now. If you want to smash people online, drop a case study and validate your claims.
