Man 2.0 - Engineering the Alpha

Anyone read this book? Endorsed by Tucker Max and the foreword is written by the Arnold.

Are you the man you were
born to be?

My guess, after working with thousands of guys around the world, is the answer would be “no”.

Every man has the potential for a great body, insane sex, and an EXTRAORDINARY life.

But somewhere along the way? You may have gotten lost.

You started to live an ordinary life. Average.

Now, don’t sweat it. It’s NOT your fault you stumbled into a life of mediocrity.

You still have the opportunity to achieve the greatness you deserve. To fulfill your potential as…

Roman's programs are just marketing, you'd get the same results by implementing what you learn with a quick google search.

I think its a bit cheesy to use the term Alpha in the headline, why not call it Engineering the Man? Probably a catchy headline to get gullible men to buy the book. Also, I gave a website a quick look and noticed that the three headlines were BUILD MORE MUSCLE • BURN MORE FAT • HAVE MORE SEX, is that all there is to becoming an "alpha"? I guess it depends where you're from, where I"m from a real man hunts and fishes (what can be more Alpha than feeding yourself and your family with your own hands), seriously, in many parts of Canada you will get respect from your male peers and makes the Canuck girls vaginas tingle if you drive around town with a thousand pound moose strapped onto your truck, something like this.

Another victim of the overplayed Alpha/Beta debacle. While having a jack3d body is by any measure a clear advantage, I value inner game more then relying on my physical appearance to change my attitude.

If you listen to Roman's interviews, you'll understand what the title means.

Obviously he's using it to grab people's attention with the ALPHA thing because after being a personal trainer for almost 10 years he began internet marketing himself and his services/products. Would this thread have been made if the title of the book didn't include the word ALPHA? Probably not, so mission accomplished on his part.

I've heard him talk about the "inner game" stuff as well. He preps his clients for the mental change that comes from changing yourself from a negative to average self opinion of your own body, into someone who now is very physically appealing and the challenges that come with it.

I like Roman, one of the very few guys I'll listen to in the fitness world.

"When most people think of “alpha” they think meathead. A tool. Cocky. Maybe even arrogant, self-obsessed pick-up artists."

The website is way to Alpha for my Beta ass, I counted something like 41 times the word Alpha on the main page, a little much I think. No doubt this dude knows what he's talking about when it comes to fitness, I'd like to see a forum member like MikeCF or Western Cancer post a run down on this product to see how legit it is.

I still think there's more to being Alpha than working out and being built, although I agree that being fit is very important for all guys.

Man 2.0 - Engineering the Alpha

I just finished it last night.

I'd call it a grounded version of the 4 Hour Body.

1. Intermittent fasting
2. High Intensity Interval Training (which he got a little bit into, but it doesn't seem to be a big part of the workouts - at least on my first read)
3. Understanding hormones and biochemistry is KEY to getting to your physical goals
4. Your Physical and your mental, financial, and romantic goals are tied together. If you lose the gut - your testosterone increases, you gain mental clarity, you are more aggressive - which can affect you at work and with the ladies.

The book is divided into 3 parts, and the nitty gritty of a meal plan and what exercises to do are at the end. Honestly, the plan itself is anti-climactic, and the first 2 parts are the more interesting read.

He repeats himself. There are some flaws in logic and "plot holes", but there excusable imo. His attacking the myths of fitness (like 6 mimi-meals being better for you than 3 meals, or 2 measl) is probably the best part of the book, because he at least gives you enough information to google the studies that he's referring to.

Is this the one exercise/diet book to replace everything that is out there? No.

If you stuck to his program would you get your results? I think you would - but that's primarily because for the "cutting" phase - he combines Intermittent Fasting with Low/No Carbs, and I think he might even have you do some fasted training. He seems to combine a lot of the recent thoughts on bodybuilding with some of the old school bro-science that Universities are just starting to catch up with (primarily because there isn't a lot of funding for some of these things)

Price of Tier One supps from their website -
Athletic Greens $77 / mo
AG Fish Oil $35 / 180 capsules
Biotrust Low Carb Protein $100 / approx 3 lbs

Compared to True Nutrition -

Fish Oil $29 / 1000 capsules

Anyone tried Athletic Greens to compare it to a regular multivitamin?
