Working Out with a finger strain

Working Out with a finger strain

Looking for suggestions on exercises I can do while nursing a finger strain.

Had been ignoring it but its only been getting worse.

I can still use my palms just fine.

Had been doing a modified SStrength until now.

Was thinking jogging, bench press, planks, pec deck for chest so far..

Thanks ahead for any other suggestions...

Working Out with a finger strain

how bad is it. I have acute tendinitis in my wrist. Doc gave me a big bag of Ibuprofen 800s. One in the morning to keep the inflammation down. It only bothers me now if I do straight bar curls.

God'll prolly have me on some real strict shit

Strain is mild. Had an x ray no fracture. Saw a hand surgeon who told me to tape it to adjacent finger for 3 weeks. I've done that

Normally do squats, press, bench. Dlift, bicep curls , Chest flys

Not necessarily looking to replace my routine, just looking for anything to stay n decent shape while resting the hand ...

I'd just let it be or do running. I came back to quickly after breaking my thumb and almost a year later its still quite sensitive to knocks or bangs. Just think about how hard you're going to train once it heals, instead of doing anything for the next week or two.

You could use wrist straps on the pulling movements to make it easier on your hand until it heals.

You could always take some time off. Some time away from the gym is great. Besides recovery, you will come back hungry to lift and after a week of re-adapting, you will come back stronger.

Tx for advice.

Taking it easy might be the best thing. When you get an injury makes you appreciate being 100% healthy.

Can you wear gloves to cover the injury?

You can do alot of Smith Machine routines like squats and presses using your palms.

Working Out with a finger strain

I recently sprained my thumb and its stopped me doing Krav Maga for 2 months so I know how it feels.

You really just need to rest it - I tried continuing with just a light workout and it still ended up hurting like fuck the next day, most likely extending the recovery period.

You could still do leg press perhaps? There's a a lot of people with chicken legs syndrome so unless you're really lower-heavy you could still do that.

I play a lot of basketball and thus, have strained my fingers a couple of times. I would take it easy, but that might be a problem since that shit takes quite some time to heal, like 4-6 weeks or even longer. One of my team-mates had to rest for 6 months in order to avoid surgery!
Well, I didnt take it easy and kept on playing and working out and now my right pinky and middle finger look kinda strange and hurt from time to time...

AntiTrace - how long have you had the tendinitis for? Is it a result of lifting?

I hurt my wrist two weeks ago doing dumbbell presses, and haven't gotten it checked out yet. Wondering if I should just avoid dumbbells/curls for a while, and it will work itself out, or if it needs more serious attention?

Honestly I would train around the injury to let it heal. Keep your squatting but I would nix the cleans and deadlift until you are better. I would also drop the pec deck and do some good old fashion pushups.
