CPM vs CPC

Would like to hear your guys' take on this. My current view is that CPC (pay per click) is better if the website has low pageview numbers. The best way then is to do super targeted ads for high ticket ad types and hope site visitors will click.

CPM (pay per 1k view) is only better if the website has high pageviews but low click thrus.

CPM vs CPC

Both have different advantages/disadvantages. When bidding CPM you're more likely to get shitty placement of ads (assuming the traffic source your paying has various places to put your ad, such as Facebook). When bidding CPM you have to pay them regardless of where they place your ad, so they're not going to care if you get a good placement or not. Whereas with CPC bidding you only pay when somebody clicks on your ad, so you're more likely to get higher quality placements.

Another good thing about CPM is that if your CTR is high enough then it's possible to get < 0.01 CPC. When bidding CPC you're usually capped at $0.01, so even if you're ads are amazing you're still limited by that price.

I'll assume you're speaking from the advertiser's point of view. You should use CPC to get data for testing purposes and once you're comfortable enough with your CTR and conversion rates, switch to CPM. In either case, pay attention to ad placement on the site because that has a much larger effect on the campaign.

Are you selling ads on your site? Your OP is not clear.

Sorry for the confusion. I would be selling ads on my site. However, the info you guys provided from the advertiser's perspective I do find interesting.

From the research Ive done past couple of days, looks like CPC does pay better. Here are some info I found on CPC payouts:

Sell annuity payment107.46
Asbestos lawyers 105.84
Structured annuity settlement 100.8
Annuity settlements100.72
Car donate 88.26
