Forbes Article on marriage

When women were scarce, they were able to command a high price in the dating/mating market. In 1910, a woman could demand that a man be economically successful, marry her, and be faithful to her because, on the margin, she could replace him, but he couldn’t replace her. There were more men seeking sex than there were women available to supply it.

Things are very different in contemporary America. Today, even homeless men somehow manage to get girlfriends. More and more lower-class men can, and do, live off women economically.

In 1910, a middle aged, single, upper-middle-class American man might have to marry a comparable upper-middle-class woman to get her to have sex with him. Today, he rarely has to do much more than ask. At present, there are many more straight, single, college educated women than there are straight, single, college-educated men. Both sides sense that this is the case, and it impacts relative “prices” in the dating/mating market.

But how much does this really amount to anything? For women at their prime, i.e. 18-30, there are way more guys after that demographic than there are in supply. Especially if you're talking about desirable ones that aren't overweight. Guys in that age range are after them, plus guys in the 30s and 40s are after them. The competition for desirable women is always going to be stiff.

That's a good point. The author may have misrepresented the cause of the shift of sexual power, he said it was demographics while it probably was the sexual revolution, but this is still a far more red pill commentary than you find in most media outlets.

You hit the nail on the head here bud. And the fatter and bitchier girls get, it's just gonna keep getting harder and harder to pin down a desirable woman.

This article was terrible

First the crux of this guys thesis is that there are too many women and not enough men. Well that may be true in an absolute numbers sense but part of that is due to the fact that OLD WOMEN live way longer than old men creating a surplus of old ladies while the old men die 5-10 years earlier. Additionally like Speakeasy alluded too there are a number of fat women out there that no man wants. Even the author mentions that 41% of children are born to single mothers; so if women are comfortable having kids with no husband they shouldn´t be surprised when their poor judgement is not rewarded with male suitors wishing to make her their wife. And because men can date and prefer to date women younger than them, while women date the same age or older typically, the competition for younger, thinner and basically the only marriagable demographic of females has never been tougher for men.

The author definately has a herb look to him

There is one hint of truth in what he says: marriage is declining. Most people don't know that in absolute numbers, the number of marriages actually peaked back in 1990 and has been declining in number ever since.

If you want a look at the problem peruse this report:

Marriage is going out of fashion for couples that are not solidly middle-class or higher.

The article is shitty because it assumes that there are more "viable" women than there are "viable" men by using the same criteria. I can't think of one time when I saw a girl and was like "Dayum, that college education and steady 9 to 5 is REALLY going to make her a great parent to nurture my children" or "Check out the degree on that bitch!". It's just humble bragging and bad economics rolled up into a bitchy wrapper. You have to take obesity into account and ask if there exists any marriage demand for any of these uglier, fatter women. There are fewer women worth fucking today than there were 100 years ago, and fewer still worth marrying. This article should have been titled "Real Marriage Crisis is Women Who Bring Absolutely Nothing Significant To The Table".

I'm in a college town packed with hot chicks in America, the guys are so wimpy the alphas who'll make a move stand out like sore thumbs, there's literally hundreds of cute, short Asian chicks with perfect skin no one pays attention to, on the other hand a white 8 acts likes everyone's an alien who is under 6'3", fuck that noise, get the submissive Asian 6's unless you're a god.

If you think hot chicks get hit on all day, follow one around on a college campus for an hour and a half. If you don't get arrested, tell me how many guys hit on them. Orbiters may talk, but usually SHE will be selecting some alpha with some slick feminine sneaky approach somehow.

American guys are really wimpy 95% of the time.
