If he said he is expressing his transexuality through his hairstyle the admins would never touch on the subject again, ever.

I'm skeptical of the wisdom in making a regulation about fingernail length guerilla. Have many of your employees gotten into altercations over that?

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but if you're mid-level management, aren't you still technically working for someone else? And therefore it would be SOMEONE ELSE'S money and SOMEONE ELSE'S workforce?

Wald

You're missing the point. I am arguing the position, not the itty bitty details.

nah thats a moot point.

working at a tech company is not individualistic...techies are mostly sheep and dress the same, have the same interests (star trek, anyone?!). This is true with many companies...there's a certain personality that companies attract. Go into that company as "an individual" (eg at a tech company dressed like a thug) and you're gonna have problems. people apply to Facebook because they WANT to work there, they WANT to be like every other techie.

at a school its not like that, most kids dont want to be there. many kids dont relate to many other kids. cliques form and cliques have problems with each other. you have that hodgepodge of all different personalities that will clash and you want to minimize the clashing to promote education and reduce violence. its not about conformity, its about maintaining order. big difference.

Fisto didn't you write that you were a heavy metal guitarist with long hair in another thread? That's cool but don't pretend to know the particular requirements of managing people in industries of which you have no knowledge.

These company regs that you sneer at are designed to protect you the consumer and that's why when your driving on a highway your axle doesn't suddenly crack in two or when you buy food you don't get ill. It's entirely selfish as an employee to think you can do what you want as an "individual" when business is much larger than the individual.

Because all of those bullshit regulations workers can't do their jobs efficiently, which is why all the manufacturing has moved to China. The Chinese don't even know what a TPS report is.

Uh OH I smell an opportunity. You hear that Guerrilla? It sounds like China is in desperate need of regulations. I bet you could make a killing over there increasing their productivity and quality control with your fingernail reqs and inspections. Just explain how TPS reports work in the powerpoint presentation and it's on.

What exactly are you two attacking? It seems like you want to insult me for no reason other than I have implemented a code of conduct that means you cant be a slob.

We're not attacking anything. Just trying to adhere to your policies here. This is stressful. What's the policy on taking a sick day?

Reading the RVF on a company computer on company time? Probably termination. That is, for a peon. Manage does whatever they want. Their immune to the rules they make up. "Do as I say, not as I do".
