RIP indeed! She was one of the true leaders of the 20th century that helped make the world a better place. The same cannot be said of many politicans, let alone a woman politician.

Maybe its just cause I am American but since I have not heard anything about her for years I assumed she was already dead.

She had dementia for the last years of her life so she was arguably dead a long time ago.

It's a little known fact that Thatcher was instrumental in making soft-serve ice cream a worldwide hit. She was on the team that developed the original British Whippy way back.

Yeah, cheers Madge. Mainly, for finally putting the nail in coffin of my countries industry (not entirely your fault though) and making all of the UK bow to banks and bratty kids in the city of london and canary wharf (this shit is on you), while not changing a thing about the welfare state that started after ww2 and made my country what it is today: chavs on dole, and services that will live or die by the worlds financial markets and have become far too great to regulate.

Props for kicking the argies in the nuts though.

We used to build shit. Aeroplanes. Ships, bridges. Railways. Look at indias rail network, my greatgrandfather built that with the corps, it's still working today. We lost a lot of knowhow in ww2 but it wasn't unsalvable. But today it's too late. Britain can't even produce a decent water faucet.

Thatcher the purse snatcher, hilarious how some guys are defending her. As a transplanted Brit, her rule was some of the worst days Britain has ever seen. Unemployment was ridiculously high when she was in power, then again what do you expect from a Tory government.
She is famous for privatization alot of the big institutions which means selling them to her cronies for under market value. The one thing she did which was alright, was enabling people that were renting welfare property the opportunity to own the property outright.
Oh, what happened to her precious son Mark.

Whilst I'd never agree with her policies and her generally selfish, greedy outlook it seems crass and tasteless to celebrate the death of a frail old lady with dementia, especially from those who weren't even born when she left office. Band-wagon hopping pricks. I barely remember her myself except as a name on the news whilst I was playing with my Lego or heading out to play football.

What's worse is that in the years since Labour did nothing to reverse the policies and attitudes she set in motion, even when they had a massive majority and plenty of leeway to do so. That still seems more of a betrayal, and more relevent to my generation - you expect the Tories to fuck you over and look out for no-one but themselves and their cronies.

If I remember correctly he was the one who was living in Cape Town with his family but they had to eave rather abruptly when his involvement in a coup plot in Equatorial Guinea was uncovered.

He was a filthy terrorist of course but I doubt any of us right-wing scum are going to lower ourselves to public celebration when he finally dies.

The reaction is really surprising, I did know about the chav problem but damn, how did Britain end up with so much white trash?

He was indeed a terrorist, but for a 'good' cause, apparently. South Africa is a beatiful socialist utopia now too, apparently.

Anyway, the people dancing in the streets aren't white trash, they're middle-class socialists. The people she actually fucked over I haven't seen too much of. They were traditional working class folk, so I suspect they have too much dignity to die their hair blue and swig champagne in the streets.

Margaret Thatcher was a hero. Definitely one of the greatest Statesmen of the 20th century. Here's the best obituary I've read so far:

http://takimag.com/article/baroness_that...z2Q4AoGkMp

The hate against her is a testament to just how pathetic England has become, and how ahistorical our collective recollection of her era is.

The question of whether or not Nelson Mandela was a terrorist is an interesting one.

To me - Gerry Adams was a terrorist. And - it could be argued - Nelson Mandela was not.

The reason is simple yet often overlooked. Gerry Adams and the IRA had full access to the democratic means of political representation. As such they could campaign freely and stand for election in order to achieve their political goals.

Whereas those who opposed apartheid in South Africa were not allowed to stand for election. As such - since they were locked out of the democratic political process - it seems reasonable that they might resort to non-political means (ie violence and sabotage) in order to and achieve their political goals.

To me - that is the key difference between being a 'freedom fighter' and a 'terrorist'.

But I am no expert on the life of Mandela. Ans I have yet to get to studying the history of him and South Africa.

Mandela and Adams are terrorists for defending their homelands?

So what would you call the UK and USA, who have attacked other countries for centuries!

I seem to have forgotten how bombing a Manchester shopping centre helped secure the freedom of the Irish people. If you could remind me, that'd be great.

I didn't realize Northern Ireland was a Catholic homeland and South Africa was a Black homeland. Last I checked, the Protestants made up the majority in Northern Ireland(who have consistently said they want to remain part of the UK), and the Boers founded the nation of South Africa and created a thriving first world society out of it.

So it is ok when your pet leftist groups attack civilians, but not ok when the US does so? That seems hypocritical to me.

Excuse me they "founded" the nation. lol
Don't you mean they invaded this region that already had people living there, otherwise known as "natives". (Zulu's etc)
