Cops getting killed--Careful what you wish for

There's been a small rash of correctional officials, prosecutors and cops getting killed-- I'm counting about 6 in the last two weeks.

This sort of unnerves me, in the 20th century cops were off limits even for the Italian Mafia as far as I know.

There's been a LOT Of "gubmint sucks" complaining in the media and on forums, I'm wondering if this is making people feel more free to off cops.

I do NOT think it is a good idea when criminals start to feel safe offing cops.

People who don't want the USA's lw enforcement situation to be a chaotic shithole like Mexico
will look negatively at this stuff.

I don't know what you are smoking. I and thousands of others were rooting for Chris Dorner. Not sure what it is, but a lot of people hate the increasing police state in the USA, so that may be it. I personally don't care too much if a cop gets wasted since he/she picked that job. No one forces you to become a cop.

It is not the cops that are the problem. It is the elected officials that are the problem. They are the one's who writes the laws. The police just do their bottom rung job.

Also, why would anyone cheer on mass murderers? Especially one who goes out killing police. Police do a shitty job. Yeah they picked it, and I thank God that they did. Police are a necessary part of keeping order in society.

Also, is there any proof that this is a trend?

Police have been dying in the line of duty for a long time. Unless data shows that there is a year-over-year uptick (and preferably a several year trend line pointing to a higher rate) in the murder of police, I wouldn't think too much about it.

I agree with iknowexactly in general, but I think that the bit about the Mafia is wrong. They were one of the first bunch that made cops and law enforcement officials fair targets (instead of really appaling crimes) in the first place. Just remember Aldo Moro and Giovanni Falcone...

I really don't know if it's a real trend, that's why I said something like a small rash. Just about 6 in the last couple weeks.

I've met Aryan Brotherhood guys, along with every other type of criminal, and they are the scariest, most reptilian monsters out of all in my opinion.

They're the closest thing I think you can meet that's like a gung-ho Nazi in modern America.

There's nothing romantic about these creatures. They are just narcissistic murderers with some half-baked pseudo-ideology.

You are right, that was more in Italy, I was thinking about the USA. They weren't exactly princes anyway!

I'm high because I don't like cops getting killed by Aryan Brotherhood scum? Interesting viewpoint.
Have you ever MET one of these creatures?

If you have ever been to a real police state, or even a place where a large proportion of cops are dirty, I can't see how you believe this. What do you think of all those cops running INTO the burning world trade center?

Have you ever done anything of public service like that?

I have never used the police or called them. I can carry a concealed weapon (with license) where I live. I have been hassled by police though.

I don't know if you saw this one, but it was all over Colorado news last week. The Colorado Department of Corrections Chief was gunned down at his home.... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/20...14314.html

Some cops can be the biggest crooks of all, and some are just doing their jobs trying to support their families. I'm not a big fan of cops in general, but I don't agree with slaying them. Maybe a few have it coming, but most fall into the "trying to support their family" category. The cops where I grew up were real crooked fuck heads, but the cops where I'm living now can be real cool. Before weed was legal here, they would catch you smoking and tell you to put it out (mostly, sometimes they would issue fines). A lot of times they wouldn't even take it away from you. Where I grew up they would pull you over and say, "Where's the weed, I know you have it!" Even if you didn't. So I have mixed feelings about them. I could never be a cop, and for the most part, I see it as a pretty weak ass job. All the kids I grew up with who became cops were chumps. But whatever, that doesn't justify taking them out.

Take a look at the stats on how many people cops wrongfully imprison (either unlawfully or for unjust laws like smoking pot). Take a look at how many they kill. How many they injure. I'm not trying to hate on them. They're just part of the growing Police State, their job, just like most people's job, is to follow their masters. But let's not feel too sorry for them.

The majority of cops who die "in the line of duty" are killed in car accidents because the stupid fucks think they're above the law and don't need to wear seat belts.

Yes, most police LOD deaths are traffic related incidents. That doesn't necessarily mean they were driving at the time. A lot of cops are killed when they're hit by another car as they talk to a driver they pulled over. I don't see how that makes them "stupid fucks".

I'll start shedding tears over cops getting killed when I stop seeing stories about wrong address drug raids, unarmed people getting shot 20 times, witness/bystander's cameras being broken, non-violent offenders having the shit kicked out of them then charged with "assaulting an officer", evidence planting, perjury, etc... in the news, all the time.

Live by the sword, die by the sword, bitches.

The way I see it, becoming a cop is joining a gang with government backing. They in just about every way act like any other gang and watch out for themselves above all others (I would if I was them). Joining the force is picking sides -- you're fucking with the bottom line of multiple lucrative illicit industries, and you put yourself at odds with the common citizen by harassing them with bullshit fines and tickets to pay for your salary. You can't act outraged when the sword falls the other way. Or you can, I guess, but most people won't give one sympathetic fuck.

I don't hate cops and wouldn't wish death upon them (nor the average gang member), but they signed up for a high stakes game whether they admit or not.

I'm a polite white guy, so I have generally been treated well by cops. Never got a ticket or was busted when I didn't deserve it, never was physically threatened by cops, never pushed to bribe anyone. I've had cops risk their lives to help me after traffic accidents.

I know it's probably worse if you're someone the cops are more suspicious of.

There are always bad operators, but I think in the US cops are relatively pretty ethical.
Everything's relative, imagine if you had that fucking job, everyone you deal with hates you. Given that, I think they do pretty well. Consider the alternative to having cops, constantly shifting alliances with vigilante groups and no agreed-upon processes of control.

However, if you lived in a place where there's anarchy and raping militias cutting people's arms off with machetes, you'd probably be praying for someone on the ethical level of an American cop to come along.

I'm with iknowexactly. I've never been jerked around by a cop, other than the patronizing "didn't you see the stop sign?" (yes I did, what I didn't see was you). I'm guessing some members have had some shitty experiences though. Perhaps Tucker Max's writeup on how to deal with cops might help. Or Chris Rock's video on how not to get your ass kicked by the cops.

Obviously bad cops exist. But so do bad doctors, bad teachers, and bad [insert profession here]. Most cops (in the US/Canada) really do want to help citizens and keep their towns and cities safe.

There is a whole movement in America that criminals are always innocent, and that no crime should ever be punished. The police basically ignore these neighborhoods, and crime skyrockets. But that's what those communities have asked for. This is a major reason why crime and violence are higher in America: When a neighborhood says, "Fuck da police, we don't want them here." as long as their vices stay within that neighborhood, we allow it.

Now if you're a dumbass and start counterfeiting, running a drug lab, or otherwise get too big and cross the unwritten line, there will be a surgical operation to shut you down. But as long as you stay small scale and only attack other wild boys like yourself, it's all lawlessness and might makes right.

Likewise there's a lot of tension over where the boundaries for where the wild is allowed and where it stops. You can literally engage in a driving car street shoot out in East Oakland and not get prosecuted. Drive too far and cross the city line into San Leandro though, and you're doing 20 years in jail. And since the bullets don't stop at the city border line, they really prosecute hard there when Oakland ducks in. Got their own court, their own judges, and their own juries that enforce hard too against outsiders coming into their community.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

Maybe it's different up in the 51st state, but in the other 50 states, they're not getting killed while sitting in cars or standing on the side of the road. They're getting killed because they don't wear seatbelts while they drive.
