Can someone familiar with the province provide some information on the lifestyle, culture, and women of Saskatchewan? The primary cities of consideration being Regina and Saskatoon.
I've heard that the province is brimming with cute, blonde, farm girls (my cup of tea). I will be moving to Regina for work in a few months and will be required to frequent between Regina and Saskatoon often.

I think you'll have lots of white trash and native people (the alcoholic violent kind noracist) in Regina. Although the cute, blonde farmgirl I know is from there.

Ive thought "about" possibly chatting up some gals online and driving up there (Regina) since its close to my job in the oil patch. It kind of seems the girls are a little better looking uo there than in the other surrounding communities here in n.d.

Alcoholic women get on my nerves, but they can make for easy notches. I hear crime can be high in certain areas of Regina and Saskatoon which I would like to avoid.
I'm hoping to find good venues for day game, particularly around the University campuses. But, I would love to know what anyone's thoughts are on the nightlife (I realize that nightlife will be limited in cities of this size).

I plan on doing some cross Canada travelling myself within the next few years. Any information on some of the less travelled provinces such as Saskatchewan would come in handy. I tried searching the forums but there wasn't much on Saskatchewan.

Yes a pal of me lived there and told me the province of Saskatchewan has way prettier girls than many other provinces, because in Saskatchewan german and ukranian ancerstries are common hence lot of beautiful blonde women, opposed to places like BC where british ancestry predominates, hence the level of women is much lower..

I just checked the demographics on Wikipedia, and you would be correct. It looks like Germans and a mix of Northern/Eastern Europeans make up most of the ancestry. Seems to make sense that there would be a lot of cute blonde girls there.

This is what I found off Wikipedia: "According to the 2006 Canadian census,[22] the largest ethnic group in Saskatchewan is German (30.0%), followed by English (26.5%), Scottish (19.2%), Irish (15.3%), Ukrainian (13.6%), French (Fransaskois) (12.4%), First Nations (12.1%), Norwegian (7.2%), Polish (6.0%), Métis (4.4%), Dutch (3.7%), Russian (3.7%) and Swedish (3.5%) ."

For my personal taste, that seems like a more ideal mix than what I find in Southern Ontario. I'm interested in knowing what personalities are like over there.

There is a Sushi joint there with some Canadian girls in komodos, friendlier than American women dressed in komodos. I went there in the frigid cold of January so hopefully visiting at this time of year is better.

I haven't spent much time in Saskatchewan, about three weeks in Swift Current, which is a dump and a couple of days in Regina, which is a also a dump. I hear good things about Saskatoon, they must have a decent music scene because that is where the Sheep Dogs are from (they were on the cover of Rolling Stone not too long ago).

There are A LOT of people from Saskatchewan working in Alberta and I would say that they are some of the most down to earth, humble people that you'll meet in Canada. I wouldn't really describe them as cool as most of the ones I meet are country bumpkin types but they're generally really nice people. A couple of my friends have married girls from Sask and they are very sweet.

I'd describe Saskatchewan as having all of the negative aspects of Alberta (flat boring land, very cold winters, lots of natives, lots of red necks, etc) but none of the positive aspects of Alberta (Mountains, chinooks, NHL hockey teams, etc.).

They really really love their CFL team, the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, I guess when you're from the most boring place in Canada, you have to latch onto something.

Scotain covered it all.

Saskatoon isn't so bad in the summer and is a nice enough city. But that is only 2-3 months out of the year. For the most part the hot sask girls come to Alberta for school and stay. I would say they have a large blonde girl population. But again most of those cuties come to alberta.

Regina is a shithole plain and simple. It is over run with drunk ass indians. No reason to ever visit.

Alberta has a good mix of European roots as well. A lot of Ukrainian, Dutch and Croatians here. Also during world war II we ran the prison camps for the Japanese in Southern Alberta, so there is an interesting mix down by Lethbridge. A lot of my friends are shocked when they find out I have Japanese cousins. Ton of blondes in that area because of the pure Dutch roots as many only marry each other. The Croatian gene is also still pretty strong in Alberta because they like to stick together. Half my cousins couldn't land a woman if they tried so they import all their wives here straight from Croatia.

As a fan of the league myself I feel the need to defend the CFL a bit here. It offers a pretty solid product and has been developing a lot lately because of that (new media deal, new stadiums, expansion back to Ottawa, etc). Roughrider fans are particularly nuts but most of the other teams get plenty of love, outside of Toronto. They could do a lot worse than latching onto a CFL team. The league is solid. In fact, I actually prefer the style of play over what I see in the NFL.

CFL games aren't a bad way to start a Friday night in the summer. Sneak in a couple mickeys and sit way up in the college corner and just get smashed.

As for the game itself I have to disagree with you Athlone. The guys in the CFL can't even make the practice squad on a NFL team. That doesn't speak well to their talent.

I compare it to watching A league baseball compared to the majors. Or if you are a hockey guy it is like watching ECHL vs the NHL. You aren't watching the best of the best, you are watching 3rd tier athletes.
