Jakarta - Advice?
03-31-2013, 12:33 PM
I'll be heading to Jakarta early June. Where is the best place going to be to stay for night life? I was thinking the Senayan area. It seems to be pretty close to the nightlife...
Any specific hotels/apartments?
Thanks

Clubs: X2 at Plaza Senayan; lounges under Hotels Meridien and Shangri-La; Immigrant; Dragonfly.
For a good hotel in the area that is relatively cheap I'd suggest the Sultan.

I have heard it`s a true shithole with tons of traffic... Naughty Nomad had this to say about it in case you haven`t seen it:

Just looked at The Sultan, the place is 126usd per day. What kind of "budget" are you on?

For 126usd per day at Sultan, I`d expect them to wipe my ass after I take a dump!

Just my two cents, I contacted Rutting Elephant before I visited Jakarta in December, his advice was solid. Keep in mind BATS, Red Square and Stadium are all places to shore. Keep a eye on your drinks and wallet especially at stadium, was told by locals some of the working girls will spike your drinks. I chose to go day gaming at Grand Indonesia mall during the evening, it was almost to easy. There is a lounge called Skye on the 55th floor I would just ask for directions in the mall to any girl I saw, while she was walking me to the elevator I would just ask her if she wanted to come have a drink also, worked for me.
Not sure if it was because I was not a local but cover at Immigrant was $20 US, drinks were about $8 (saw a lot of Australians guys and girls in this club). Older crowd but some of the fittest girls in Jakarta. Tons of hot young chicks at X2 but I had a super hard time striking conversation with anyone. On a side note, Jakarta has to be one of the easiest places I have ever shored, I was only in Jakarta for 4 nights Dec26-30 this past year, I had such a great time that I will be returning back in the Fall.

Thanks for the advice guys. Got a good deal on a flight from Europe to jakarta (around 300euros return), so wanted to see somewhere different. The Sultan to be honest is out of my budget. I was looking to find something for half the price. Definitely looking to hit up Red Square and Stadium (let's hope not too many ayams!)

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?
