Getting a custom-fitted blazer in London

Hi,

I presume Savile Row has a hefty price tag associated with it. If not, I'm happy to go there. I'm looking for a tailor that can do:

1. Something classic but also trendy; single breasted, two buttons, none of that super thin lapel stuff.
2. Appreciates what us folks in the younger generation need; I'm 26.

Do you guys have recommendations? Somewhere you've been or word of mouf ... ? Personally I like T.M.Lewin's stuff, the suits fit well - most people can't tell the difference - but it I need something custom-fitted.

Thanks

I swear by Lewin's stuff myself.....I am nearly 2 metres tall so being able to have suits with 35"+ inside leg is a godsend...most off the peg suits are like bermuda shorts on me!

Lewin is a shirt maker.

Do you need custom because you have atypical body proportions? I do not know any places which will get a custom or even mtm done quickly.

If you want the signs of custom e.g. functional buttons stylish lapels check out suit supply it is otr.

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

Lewin is a shirt maker, but their suits are reasonably priced...and for me it is ideal as they do "long" fittings. You try getting an off the peg suit, with sleeves, body length and leg length to fit when you have a 35"+ inside leg.

I am aware of that, but the suits they make are good.
No, I don't. Like I said, most people can't tell the difference, especially if you have it altered when you buy it.
I was basically wanting a recommendation for place to get a made-to-measure jacket.

Pure coincidence but i have a guy. We used to go to school together. I hadn't seen him for several years then i bumped into him at the tennis club the other day, he'd just signed up, and after he asked what i do, i was somewhat obligated to return the question. I did. He runs a bespoke suit company (tailors). His clients are, it appears, typically first year bankers / consultants etc - those on year 1 just out of university analyst salaries - looking for the latest suit styles at nowhere near Saville Row prices.

I'd be glad to put you two together to discuss it. Perhaps PM me with your details and i could forward your number to him for him to ring you.

If you're willing to waste some time, make a run through the charity shops in Chelsea. I saw a lot of Savile Row discards in new condition, but nothing really fit.

Walderschmidt off here was in town getting a custom suit fitted. Can't remember where he went

You can go Selfridges Mens Formal and they can tailor top notch suits for you like Ozwald Boateng.

What type of sport jacket you after? Last time I was in London I went into the Gant shop on regent street and saw some really nice tweed jackets. 550 pounds mind you...

I bought a Gant tweed jacket at their discount store in Portsmouth. Was reduced from £480 to £125. It's a beautiful.

I personally like the cut of the sports jackets made by Aubin & Wills which is the high end Jack Wills shoot-off. Again, available at their discount stores in Portsmouth or up in Bicester Village for a fraction of the original retail price.

Something not many think of is bespoke shoes. I had a pair of brogues made for me in India that fit like a glove and cost less than a pair of shoes you'd by in your average town centre outlet. I might be hitting India in June so will try to get another pair made.
