Now we are getting somewhere with this thread.

Here is the real question:

Who would win in a fight?

El Mech VS European El Mech?

Ali VS European Ali?

Fisto VS European Fisto?

Tenderman VS European Tenderman?

I put my money on my American brothers in a clean sweep.

Wait, maybe we are really are on to something on this thread.

If you look at a map of Europe you'll see that the vast majority is what is known as 'eastern Europe' Inclyding coubtries such as Czech

The Scandinavians should be tough as they are naturally physically strong and do well in boxing and mma but there culture is too beta.

Dutch are not pussies, they would probably kill the average American in a fight.

It is a sign of barbarism that mma and weights are so important to get chicks. It's because of the USA's militaristic culture

There are more aggressive cultures and bigger barbarians but I don't feel this is something to be proud of.

This is it. It comes down to the culture. Scandi's are beta. I've worked with Swede's that could play Thor in a movie, but couldn't defend themselves to save their lives. Proof here:

You gotta think too, that America has been at war for years, and are churning out warfighters on an assembly line. Europe is doing squat, except for still leading sales in man purses.

So I'm glad our European forum members grew some balls... (Haha, just joking [Image: wink.gif]) But seriously, it's like I got the European Union over here, I'm glad I was able to bring together so many Europeans to stand up for thier continent. I also didn't anticipate that this thread would ruffle quite so many feathers, but maybe that stands to be a good thing.

For the record I was referring to Western Europeans, as E. Europeans are completely different breed all together, and I would agree are quite more masculine typically than Americans or most men in the western world.

I don't get the visceral reaction from so many of our European bretheren on this forum. I straight up said that I was "painting broad strokes", which in other words means I was making generalizations, generalizations obviously don't apply to each and every person. But, usually stereotypes and generalizations are based partially on truth, whether it's pc or whether we like to admit it or not.

Next I straight up said that I'm not your most classically macho or masculine man, I am not trying to put myself on a pedestal as being this uber-macho badass, so I don't get why you guys are trying to clown and put words in my mouth and make me out to portray myself as something I am not. Maybe next time read my words more clearly, because if anything I am just being real and calling it like it is.

That said, I also want to clarify that I am not trying to make male masculinity as the end all be all of what is important in life. There are some super-masculine rednecks in the U.S. that are dumb as a rock, ignorant as fuck, and probably couldn't even point out Germany on a map... Do I think these kinds of people are cool and would I want to hang out with them... No. In that case I'd probably prefer to hang with the feminized Germans or French that can actually hold an interesting and intelligent conversation.

But, I still stand by what I wrote in the original post and I'm glad I got some people who stood up and acknowledged some truth to what I wrote. I'm about to check out of the hostel here soon, but as I type this, there is a French couple two computers down... They look the same, dress the same, and you can't tell which one of them is getting penetrated by the other. I swear I have never seen such a couple with such a masculine woman and such a feminine man. If space aliens landed on our planet from outer space and saw them, I really doubt they would be able to tell who is the man and who is the woman, if you get my drift.

That said, don't think because I use this couple as an example that I am trying to say that all French or all western Europeans are this way, that I am not. However, it would be really rare to see such a couple in the states, although we do have our certain subsets and subcultures of hipsters and others where the masculine and feminine polarities are completely out of whack. To be fair I will say that there is an American hipster here who looks gay as fuck, super short florescent blue shorts, some rainbow colored tank top, and a fanny pack... Again with the fucking fanny packs!! Ughh, but I digress.

Just like I am generalizing with Europeans, Europeans generalize with Americans... I feel like I have been an ambassador to the U.S. on this trip, because I feel like every other European I meet within a minute of being introduced starts talking shit on the U.S. and is grilling me about being American, and says how much everyone hates Americans. I understand because America can be full of ignorant dickheads [Image: american.gif], but just like everyone isn't a fat highschool drop out nascar fan, not every European is a gay, feminized, androgyous beta male. I take every person on a case by case basis, even though I have had bad experiences with the French, I still meet a new French person with an open mind and give them a chance to show me they are cool, even though 9/10 times they don't give me a chance and pigeonhole me because I'm American.

Final notes, when I talk about lifting weights and MMA, I am not trying to make these out to be pre-requisites for being a masculine man. In fact, too often I am annoyed as hell by your typical roided up meathead, or douchey tatted crazy agressive agro cage fighter. These are not people and lifestyles that I strive for or try to emulate. That said, I believe in bettering ones self and I believe it is basic human nature that is directly tied to masculinity for a man to have physical strength and be able to defend himself. Physical strength and ability to defend oneself tie into dominance and dominance ties into masculinity.

I have shit for genetics and am by no means a super jacked up dude, and by no means will I be fighting in the UFC, but I do what I can to improve my physical body and physical strength. I learn martial arts because it's a hobby and a lot of guys in the U.S. want to be a "tough guy" so the chances of landing yourself into a fight, even when you aren't looking for it are there. I also like to travel to countries that most of the square, mainstream world consider to be dangerous, so it's nice having the added piece of mind that I have some self-defense skills should I ever need to use them.

One of the last things I will touch on here, before I go, I straight up said in my OP that America can be a tough dating market, and that I find myself frustrated, if that's not self-depricating, I don't know what is. Then guys want to come in and talk even more shit and try to make me out to be some hateful loser that can't get laid. I was just making the point that in the U.S. you don't see such mismatched couples, due to the dynamics of the dating market. For the record, my wording wasn't very clear, but I was mostly referring to seeing mismatched Mexican couples, where the chick is fine, but the dude is short, ugly, fat, old, or dresses like shit.

I have seen mismatched European couples for sure, but it's not like I see European dudes pulling Mexican chicks down here, and not even very many pulling other tourist chicks, it's always dudes with their girlfriends that I am thinking of and referring to. More power to them I guess, I have never been one to promote haterism, and I even call myself on it and admit it when I find myself falling into that negative thought and energy vortex.

I hope this addressed your issue boys, now go eat some steak and eggs, hit the gym, and burn those fucking capris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having lived in both Western Europe and the US, I feel like I need to throw my opinion in here. As far as masculinity goes, every country and culture has their own definition of it. There are distinct social and cultural influences in every country which dictate what an 'ideal' man should be. In the US, a masculine guy could range from anything to a muscular gym rat, to a rough cowboy type, to a construction worker who works with his hands all day every day, even guys in motorcycle gangs could be considered at the top of the 'masculine' meter.

In europe, masculinity could be defined by someone who dresses extremely well, takes care of their appearance, is funny, outgoing, etc. There is not an obsession with fitness in Europe that exists in the US. Europeans tend to be better dressers. When I was on exchange in Spain the Spanish guys always looked sharp and it made me step my game up. A large percentage of Americans can get away with wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt outside their homes in the US but when they go abroad they stick out like a sore thumb partly because they don't understand the concept of being presentable. There are of course exceptions to every rule.

In Europe, the food portions here are smaller, there are no free refills, there is more of a need to walk around rather than drive everywhere, people especially the younger people take the time to learn to cook for themselves rather than ordering food or going to a takeaway as the american college students do. Arguably the biggest gap at least that I have noticed from a UK-US standpoint is the number of people who participate in sports past the age of 18. In the US, unless you are playing sports in college, you likely will stop doing any organised sport. I have played in Sunday Football leagues in England where there have been many, many people over the age of 50 in the teams, this is simply not done in the States.

Back to the issue of masculinity, I feel that a more global definition of what it is to be a 'man' is to embrace your skill set. Don't pretend to be something you aren't just for the sake of impressing other guys/girls, that comes across as extremely beta. Live life by your own choices and pursue what it is that makes you happy. For the OP to single out a whole continent full of men based on a few german tourists he saw is both cynical and I daresay typical of the stereotype that we in Europe get regarding Americans. The most interesting part of this rant the OP went on is that it was completely unwarrented. None of those guys told you to fuck off or tried to sleep with your girlfriend, you did it out of a sense of bitterness, trying to compensate for why these guys are dating up and banging hotter girls than you because they are just "Euro fags". This is coming from a completely unbiased set of observations I have made from my time in both countries. Europeans don't need to live up to the US standard of masculinity, especially when they weren't even in the States. So take a look at yourself and ask yourself why am I wasting time hating on europeans when I could be addressing my own problems and getting the girls that they are getting?

I agree but it's also culture.

You are right though, traditionally Slavs are warriors. The Turks took them as slaves as they knew what good fighters and workers they are (Turks are skinny but very smart and good at fighting if in groups)

One thing I always liked about this forum, is I didn't have to read this typical nonsense about Americans, that's all over the place over here. I'm in northern Germany on the border with Denmark, have been for 3 years, and basically - it's incredibly lame. Shot myself in the foot by locking into this area. The big cities are of course great, but get off this supposed 'the beaten path' (where I am - cow country), I'd say the 9/10 ratio of people pigeonholing you because you're american and not giving you a chance is pretty accurate. I don't really post on here, so I don't have a reputation, and I really enjoy reading what the Europeans have to say on here for the most part.. but look at the Euro sentiment posted in this thread. These guys are fucking cool and rare, and still got this kneejerk reaction going through all the usual bullshit stereotypes. Really, many (too many) women folk over here have no fashion sense, many of them can't speak English almost at all, 'plump' would be a pretty good word (none of them ever work out and all of them drink this thick beer and eat god knows what), they all play foosball (or kicka) at the lame bars and dig this constant barrage of music basically straight out of the 80's. Most of the guys are straight rude-ass dicks, who giggle with each other and pour beer directly into the tops of their heads every weekend and prob always will, act goofy when drunk or try to be badasses in a bright blue sweater with some logo at the lame local discothek. One word in English they all know for sure is redneck, but they don't realize that they seem to fit the European version pretty well. Then there are the Birkenstock wearing faux-intellectual types (who just think as long as they're ultra left wing about everything, well, then they're right about everything. Simple, eh?). There are of course a lot of cool people, but I can't get far with most because of the left wing anti-American worldview that's practically a requirement (to one extent or another). Thank the baby Jesus my new/current roommate is cool as fuck and I can bullshit with him because shit was really starting to suck.

I will admit my German isn't perfect, but it's pretty good. Decent.

Advantages? Female international students, the rare cool German chick or two, and a few lovely ladies hailing from all over the world settled in Germany who like my guitar skills (like this stunner originally from Iraq who asked me for my number last night). Now, I also have figured out how to enjoy myself here a few miles from the Danish border, but it's like holy shit I can't think of anything that's good about this place, no joke - ok, maybe the pretty little harbor with sailboats for a month and a half in summer. Aside from that... yeah. I'm not trying to talk shit about 'Germans' per se, I've met a lot of cool Germans in my travels and because this is the kind of place that if you know what's going on, you move away from,- move somewhere like Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Bremen etc. Just don't give me this shit about getting off the beaten path in Europe to see how it really is and that it's some wonderland - the beaten path in Europe sucks. really. bad. (& nothing but beautiful grey skies 3/4 of the year - fuck that!)

Wasn't anything in the OP that didn't strike me as being pretty close to the truth as I see it here. Buncha hollister wearing nimrods walking around with their mouths open. Afterwards, I did notice some Europeans letting out the usual US-this-US-that whine while enjoying directly or indirectly billions of dollars of US taxpayer money for decades on end to this day (CSDP is a fucking joke) that will never be asked to be paid back in any way, shape or form. That I did notice. I'm not trying to say that I'm some sort of fucking statue of Zeus or that I give a shit about German cinema (I don't - French either.. Scandinavian is good), but I expected better. I expected people who played bass guitar in Europe to be able to do it without fucking up every five seconds thinking they're the shit and fucking up my band (for one). Anyway, in a few months I'll be back on the beaten path here in Germany, thankfuck, somewhere where at least a decent amount of the people are approaching normal, laid back, open minded, and cool, and I'll be able to get serious again. I cannot wait. /rantfuckover
