Lindy West, the world's official nastiest-looking feminist, has taken to looking through college papers to get Jezebel blog post ideas. She found an editorial in the Nebraska College newspaper and wrote up a blog titled "Nebraska College Kid Says Feminism ‘Achieved Its Goals’ So Women Should Shut the Fuck Up Now." She's doing the usual Jezebel number on it (mocking it, making snide comments, but never quite refuting its points).

I'll leave aside the morality of attacking college kids. Since he's a public figure because of his writing, it's definitely legal, but kind of scraping the bottom, ethics-wise.

But more importantly, here is the link to his editorial, which was called "Feminism Hurts Modern-Day Relationships," and is pretty well-reasoned. He's taking a lot of heat in the comments area:

The writer's name is Zach Nold, and here are the opening sentences of what he wrote. Looks like he might have been hanging around these parts:

It seems like a pain at first because you have to register on that college Web site to do it. But I registered and it's pretty easy -- they don't make you go to your email and confirm it.

Lindy West is and always has been a troll. Her articles are horrible because her audience has neither taste nor rationality. They are bitterfat, ugly, or brainwashed women and manboobs who overlook the rampant fallacies and deliberate misrepresentation to enjoy her affected outrage and predictable, snarky sarcasm. And, of course, the complementary audience are manosphere types who get angry at her idiocy and the fact that she studiously avoids ever actually making a real argument.

And let's not lose sight of the fact that she is responding to an op-ed from a fucking (state!) college newspaper. It's exactly what you might predict: well-reasoned and thoughtful but lacking perhaps in rigorous supporting evidence and research. For any normal person, it might be a decent starting point for a discussion. For Lindy West it's a chance to fake hysteria for page views. That West must stoop so low to find blog fodder speaks volumes of her inability to challenge a real opponent in a legitimate discussion.

I totally agree (and should have said as much in my post). But I urged support for the guy because it looks like what happened to him is what happened when Michael Noer came out with his now-legendary "Don't Marry a Career Woman" op/ed in Forbes. The outcry from feminists was so loud they had to run a counterpoint article -- which is now permanently part of that article if you click on the link.

I also want to make sure this kid knows better than to write a retraction or apologize after the deluge of negative comments he's getting. Once upon a time I was a college newspaper editor whose paper got picketed because of politically incorrect writing so I feel for this kid. This was in the pre-internet era and I had no one that supported me, save for a couple of sane male college profs.

I think we need to show our support for guys like this where and when we can. It took a tremendous amount of courage for that guy to use his real name and photo and write a politically incorrect article like that in one of the most politically correct environments in the world, the American college campus. Whenever articles like this drop, we need to get more and more men to defend it and deconstruct the feminist arguments one by one.

I don't know what Jezebel's moderation policy is, they'd probably delete any manosphere comments the second they were posted, but if not, I see no reason not to take the fight to them too.

Men suffer from more health problems and live 5 years less than women, but more money is dumped into women's health care. Sooooo what exactly are you fighting for? It's cannot possibly be equal rights because you already have it. First/Second wave accomplished that.

I don't really see how she thinks that women are being oppressed systemically when the only backwater shithole she can find criticism of feminism is in a Nebraskan college newspaper. Even when she does find the criticism that justifies her mentality she has to straw man his article into a (very bad) one or two sentence summary and pepper her article with a lot of swear words and hysterical condescension. This is why mocking feminists with accusations of not shaving their pits, being fat and ugly, or showering once a week tops is the only effective counter - that's argumentation they use constantly and can understand.
