This is really great, a good example of what can happen when you go after your dreams.

Still, the clear problem is with something like this, is that the result of it goes out of your hands. The movie is normally never as good as the book! Remember what they did to American Psycho? Made it into a cheap comedy directed by a woman! It sure will be interesting to see what they do with this. I enjoyed the book and thought there was some very interesting insights and experiences in it - so lets hope the result does the book some justice!

Anyway, good on you Neil, I'm sure getting a major (I'm assuming) lump of cash for your efforts will help greatly with your future endeavours!

I know this is just my imagination, but it would be hilarious to have a rooshv callout in the movie, something subtle, like having a bottle of bragg's ACV in the background, or having a girl you banged mentioning that you met her asking about pet stores.

Neil, do you mind me asking whether you get paid only if the movie gets made, or they bought the book rights and will pay you up front? Or maybe a mixture?

I heard that anyone involved in a film should negotiate a percentage of the gross, not the net, because most films never make a net profit. Myth or truth?

I hope it works out for him (i.e. gets made), but from what little I know it takes a while sometimes to make some progress after optioning. Based on conversations with some people in LA who are in the business (who work on the edges of the business and aspiring people).

I advised him to lay low, and wisely he took that to heart. It's sad to say but at the phase he is in his career nothing positive can come from a public association with RVF.
